[WOTC] Hive All Gone Feral [BETA]

Description
What is this?
This mod is an add on for TeamCX's The HIVE , made with permission from 90% of the CX-HIVE team. I failed to contact some of the authors.

This mod will turn any chryssalid from any team, to the HIVE team when they finish their scamper movement. I really wanted ALL chryssalid units to be on the HIVE team, regardless of encounter spawn rules.

How?
The mod uses a perk with a scamper end trigger.
What it does is create a clone of the unit on the 'correct team'.
Similar to what Templar Ghost or Shadowbind do. The original unit is removed.

I tried to make the animation make sense, its still a little out of sync.
I'm no animator and was using what is already there !.

The mod also gives chryssalids a new Evac style perk that can be used anywhere that is a 'ground' tile. This is in case you happen to control one (or spawn one) and want to send it away, um, humanely...

The mod will not convert XCOM-spawned lids from the HIVE items
(basically units starting on the XCom Team, stay on the XCom Team)

Configs?
There are some config options, but honestly it's best to not mess with them.
They were mainly used for myself to test stuff whilst in dev.

You can turn off the team swap flyover ...

BETA Status?
I've never used a perk with this type of trigger before, nor did I find many examples to draw inspiration from. It was stable and working smoothly personally before upload.
I've also released 'a bit early' in my testing cycle JUST because I wanted it out for Halloween :)

Known Issues/Conflicts
  • 'Mission Kill' counters might get a bit messed up
    ..meh, it doesn't seem to effect XP/Growth
  • Kind of makes the Queens Domination perk a bit useless ...
I think your mileage may vary in a LWOTC setting.
I don't think Mod Jam or B&T covers HIVE yet.
I'm sure a LWOTC player will be along shortly to inform us all if it works.

The Faction Anchor has been added to the list of requirements from 18 June 2023, as turning all Chyrsalids to a faction team can quite easily end a mission early without this ...

Works with Covert Infiltration though!
Works with The HIVE More
Works with ANY chryssalid group unit, including HIVE, ABA and Frost Legion

Does NOT work with ABA: Better Missions or ABA: Better Missions Plus .
Causes the bughunt mission to break :(

Should now work with ABA: Better Missions or ABA: Better Missions Plus although these missions will be XCOM vs Feral vs Advent Bug Commander Group. ... Many thanks to falsfire1976 for help testing the fix.

@RustyDios Sorry, I didn't mean the "Bughunt" mission from ABA. I mean the mission "Assassinate Alien Commander". If you use mods that let other aliens spawn at other force levels, it seems to be possible for a Chryssalid to spawn as the "alien commander".

Its been a long time since I've played vanilla, so I didn't remember if this was a vanilla mission that was just proccing a Chryssalid instead of an advent officer, or if it was modded.

This mod has issues when a Chryssalid is chosen as a VIP to assassinate as part of a mission. When the Chryssalid burrows and comes out as a Hive unit, the original VIP is shown to stay in one spot and cannot be killed or interacted with in any way, probably due to the swap. Even wiping the whole field of enemies does not complete the mission successfully.

Is there a way to disable the hive gone feral animation it was cool thye 50 ripper eep doing the exact same shit ended up taking 2-3 minute of just watching

also for some reason the needle reaper keep causing crashes everytime they do an action or just being targetted

somehow the chrysalid cameleon, crashes the game because it wants to go feral.

Using "Ai to Ai Activations" makes it more apparent .. but .. Hivelids (or indeed any CHL-faction-team unit) targeting VIPS before they are activated, is a known issue with the faction teams in general. We do not understand why/how it happens. It is not something I can fix in this mod. :(

I'm looking into methods to reduce the advent-scatter > feral spawn > feral-scatter > feral turn chain. So far everything I have tried doesn't work, but I think I'm getting close to a solution.
