The Damage Meter (by Xevyr) - v2.2.3

Description
Fully featured lightweight damage meter that can measure realtime DPS of your character and any followers.
Includes scrollable combat log and floating damage numbers for the player.

This is a lightweight, but very powerful mod able to measure and log your damage and dps output across various encounters.
It's also the perfect tool for benchmarking weapons / thralls / builds, racing your clanmate in damnage done during a dungeon run or just minimizing all the main windows and enjoying the RPG-style floating damage numbers.

Features:
  • Holding the F1 key allows you to use your mouse on the game screen and interact with the damage meter.
  • Hover over entries to see breakdown of damage type
  • The damage meter stores the data for the last 10 individual encounters as well as a total since the last reset. (data is saved client-side to avoid database bloating)
  • The minus button to the left of the title minimizes the window, while the "play" button on the right opens the encounter segments panel
  • Can switch between Current / Total damage Done / Received
  • Combat Log: Scrollable window that keeps the last 1000 damage events
  • Floating damage numbers (can turn off in settings)
  • Customizable bar colors and UI theme (see attached pictures above for a few)
  • Customizable refresh rate for bars
  • Full mouse-interaction support: Can drag / resize (bottom right corner) the main damage meter and combat log.
  • Adjustable UI scale which can scale all UI elements beyond the regular window resize
  • Ability to minimize / hide the main window (minus button in the top left corner of the window) and the combat log (button on the main window) separately. The restore button for the main window will be in the lower left corner of the screen by default, but the corner is selectable in the settings.
  • Can toggle combatlog timestamp display in the settings
  • EXPERIMENTAL: Track up to 3 other players by interacting with them via the radial menu

Compatibility:
Compatible with everything, doesn't modify basegame assets
The only potential issue would be a hotkey conflict in case you have the F1 key bound to something else or used by another mod

Performance:
Since people have been asking questions about the performance impact and often incorrectly assuming it, let me clarify:
  • The mod is very lightweight and has a virtually non-measurable performance impact on the server.

  • The client-side performance impact is equally low when it comes to processing data and the general operation. You simply won't notice it. The thing that you will notice though are situations resulting in extreme overuse of the floating damage numbers, since the numbers obviously have to be displayed on-screen and animated etc. We're talking extreme examples, like throwing damaging orbs into large crowds or using modded AoE spells with a "gazillion" hits etc. Obviously if your playstyle involves those things and you notice any FPS drop from that, you can simply turn off the floating damage numbers in the settings.

Some of my other mods:
  • Twin-Bar (Doubles the capacity of your shortcut bar by allowing you to place 2 items in each and individually swap between them with hotkeys)
  • Simple Minimap (Helps you see where you're going.. it's a minimap that works with controllers too)
  • Armor and Weapon Stats in Bench (shows you the stats of things in the bench before crafting)
  • Reliable Meteor Showers (tiny super-lightweight mod that makes meteors rain sooner if there are less than 5 nodes on the map, solving the issue of scarce star metal - also adds the smoke back to meteor nodes that was removed in Chapter 2)
  • Inventory compactor (button that gets rid of empty slots in custom view inventory and benches)
  • All of the others...

Update policy
  • All my mods are made to be future-compatible with the latest version of the game and in the vast majority of the cases do NOT require updates when the game has an update.
You can safely ignore any "outdated" warnings you might get from gportal or other services as those simply check the version number of the devkit used to create the mod (stored in a text file inside the mod) against that of the game, which is completely irrelevant in the case of mods that do not contain altered basegame files.

  • I will update my mods on my terms and my terms alone. If you don't like my update schedule, don't use the mods.

Hey Xevyr, I did a review of 2 of your mods in this video. Enjoy: https://youtu.be/zkvZ1zrdXDQ

Lol :D Yea... I've seen several servers add it and then the players go "WHAT ARE THESE ON MY SCREEN! I DON'T WANT IT THERE!! REEEEEEEEEEEE!" when all they had to do was click 2 buttons if they didn't want it there.

But! Now we have a secret backend solution for these cases :D

There is a button to hide it ofc on the main window, but there's no option to make that the default, you can simply do what I did and make a server-info section in your discord where you can list the basic functions of each mod on the server.. what hotkeys they use... how to do some basic setup etc.

There's also a youtube video above by pixelcave that shows most of the functions, including how to hide the combat log.. so the new players could watch that, though if they're quitting because there is a scrolling combat log on their screens, then you have bigger problems than that.

Hey Xevyr

Thanks for your mod it's great!

Do you think there's an option to disable (minimize, no combat log) it per default? Because i experienced it's overwhelming for new players and then they quit playing in the area of level 0 - 10 but very appreciated for veterans so i'd like to keep the mod but having it disabled per default.

This mod will reset itself midway and will reset many times

Yes, that is correct. I did not want to clutter the screen and the floating numbers do have a slight performance cost (negligible under normal circumstance, but the more numbers on screen the more that grows).

So I thought it best to limit it to the player only for now, however I might add it for thralls as well in a future update as an optional setting, maybe redesign their version of the font so it's a bit smaller.. etc.

For now though if you want to see thrall numbers, I can recommend that you go to the settings, turn off time-stamps as it takes up space..
Then you can resize the combat log from the bottom right corner to something really small and leave it somewhere on-screen in a corner while hiding the main UI

That will at least let you see all hits, including ones from thralls.

Working great so far. But it seems there are no floating numbers when the thralls deal any damage, and I saw the tooltip from the settings mentioning "player only". Can you add thralls too?
