WHAT?
RANT: We all know how cool the idea of having dimensional rifts between the realms of chaos and the Old World is, unfortunately we also happen to know how poor their implementation is.
As soon as Ursun roars, chaos rifts appear all over the place, and, as soon as armies start pouring out of it half the world turns into a pile of smoking ruins because on the one hand the AI is unable to efficiently cope with the chaos rifts, on the other, the ludicrous amount of chaos rifts spawning at once effectively worsens the already bad AI capabilities of dealing with them.
For EVERY single province on the map ALWAYS gets a chaos rift no matter what, no variety nor logic behind it, rifts just spawn everywhere (and always on the same spots) wreaking havoc.
The combination of these ill factors make the roar an utterly dull, annoying and frustrating experience (to the point that mods disabling this whole system were made).
Who in his right mind would design such claudicant nonsense is beyond my understanding.

LORE: Opening and keeping open so many dimensional rifts would require a virtually endless amount of power, to an extent that not even the chaos gods themselves would be able to harness.
This is why every darn time in history chaos armies had to march all the way down from the chaos wastes towards the mortal empires on foot rather than popping in and out of dimensional rifts as they pleased where they pleased.
The only places so tainted to allow for such anomalies to persist regardless of everything are the Paths of the Old Ones, where pure chaos flows unhindered and dimensional rifts can tap energy directly from pure chaos itself.

Yet, as i said because them portals and the realms of chaos are actually a VERY cool idea...

LET'S KNOCK SOME GOOD OL' COMMON SENSE INTO IT!


HERE BE CHANGES!
This mod will make chaos rifts more sparce throughout the map lessening the burden on the AI.
It will also randomise the spawning locations favouring provinces with high corruption levels and provinces geographically close to the chaos wastes, the closer to the chaos wastes, the higher the chance of spawning a portal as you can see in the image above.


- BASE CHANCE: Every province has a base 30% chance of spawning a portal

- CORRUPTION MODIFIER: Corruption modifier is calculated as follows:
- Chaos: equals to 60% of province's corruption total level among: Undivided, Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh and Tzeentch
- Skaven: equals to 25% of province's skaven corruption level

- REGIONAL MODIFIER: Regional modifier is calculated as follows:
+30% for Chaos Wastes
+20% for Norsca and Albion
+15% for Dark Lands (home to chaos dwarfs)
+10% for provinces bordering with Norsca or Chaos Wastes
+5% for Couronne and Northern Wastes

MATH:
base_chance = 30 corruption_mod = [(undivided 30) + (nurgle 15)] x 0.6 = 27 skaven_mod = (skaven 20) x 0.25 = 5 regional_mod = (troll_country 10) base_chance = 30 corruption_mod = 27 skaven_mod = 5 regional_mod = 10 30+27+5+10 = 72 In this example there is a 72% probability that a chaos rift will spawn in Troll Country


EXTRA SAUCE:
Some provinces, because of their lore, have custom regional modifiers, notably:

- Karak Vlag: +25% "Even their most ancient Runesmiths were unable to save the fall of Karak Vlag to Galrauch's magic.
The few Dwarfs who survived the fall of the hold speak of it being so saturated in magical energy that it now no longer truly exists in the material realm. Instead, the hold phases between the Old World and the Realm of Chaos and now hordes of Daemons fill the great halls where once Dwarfen kings ruled."


- Brass Keep: +20% "Modern Brass Keep is known as a hideout for the Warriors of Chaos. Despite numerous attempts from the Empire to root them out, the latest in 2370 IC, Brass Keep stands defiant, offering the servants of Chaos a safe haven."

- Praag: +15% "Living in a city so tainted by Chaos weighs heavily on the mind and body, even for those who escape mutation."

F.A.Q.
- Is it compatible with X mod? YES!
- Can be added mid-campaign? YES!
- Will this shut/mess/change already open portals upon mid-campaign installation? NO! The script only triggers upon Ursun's roar event!
- Will you add more features? NO! Unless they're within the scope of the mod!
- Will you implement custom settings for MCT? Most likely NO! Extra pain and no gain!

Is this compatible with Realms of Chaos Campaign Streamlined (more fun, fair, faster, & focused)?

Funny thing i used mixu legendary lords to play lorelorn wood elves and see if things changed, by turn 25 i had the warning that ursun will soon roar but after that it never happened lol. I really think it's linked in a way or another to mixu's legendary lords or the like. I'll figure it out eventually i guess. XD

Ok, so weird, i had many mods in the 2 too and everything worked fine back then have they scripted all this worse in the 3 ? I wonder now...

This mod does not alter the roar event at all, the script triggers AFTER the roar is registered and jist shuts those portals not passing the check

seem that a mod disable the roar script in this campaign, in IE i have no problem with any faction or script,i really don't know what mod could trigger this "bug" before the chaos dwarf i had the roaring warning but never the portals now it seem i have nothing, maybe the "Legendary lords" or mixu's unlocker playing a part in it who know?
