Bertrand and the Survivors of Bergerac

Description
*** I have decided to not support updates for this version for now since startpos.esf editing is time consuming and difficult to make work. Please use Bertrand the Brigand & the Bowmen of Bergerac or Bertrand and the Survivors of Bergerac (Sub-mod for Mixer) instead. Sorry for the inconvenience. ***

This mod adds a new faction, The Survivors of Bergerac, lead by Bertrand the Brigand, as a playable faction for Immortal Empires, as well as some supporting units and mechanics for all Bretonnian factions.

Lore
Originally a poor peasant in the domain of Bergerac, Bertrand was forced into a life of adventure when the Baron de Bergerac left on a Grail quest and never returned. A skillful bowman, Bertrand trained the peasants of Bergerac to defend themselves from orc raiders. The remaining nobles, in their arrogance and lust for power, summoned a horrible flapping monster that destroyed the castle of Bergerac and ravaged the surrounding town. Bertrand and his trained bowmen (including Gui le Gros and Hugo le Petit) slew the monster, and rescued the Baron's daughter and remaining peasants.

The baron's daughter declared that Bertrand's feat of arms was a worthy errand, as was her right as a noblewoman, and they wed. Having no castle or town left to defend, Bertrand could not be properly recognized as a knight. He and his companions now travel the land, righting wrongs, fighting orcs, and defending peasants.

As the player, you may choose to seek the recognition of your Knighthood from other Bretonnian factions through more Chivalrous deeds and building a new Dukedom, choose to take vengeance on the corrupt nobility of Bretonnia, or choose to do whatever else you deem fitting, free from the rigid confines of Knightly honor.

Mechanics/Units
Bertrand, Hugo, and Gui are recruitable only for the Survivors of Bergerac. Bertrand starts as the leader of a small army, whereas Hugo and Gui are added to your agent recruitment pool at the start of a campaign. If the player is playing as another faction, Bertrand will still start in the same place, and can be allied with, fought against, or even confederated (although technologies won't help you to confederate).

Other Bretonnian factions are able to recruit brigand units including Faceless and Crownless Lords.

Bertrand only has access to Crownless Lords (and Prophetesses) instead of the usual Knight Lords of Bretonnia, although other Knight units can be recruited as usual from the Stables chain (at somewhat higher cost), including Paladins.

Most Brigand and Herrimault units can be recruited from the Brigand Camp building chain, or can be upgraded from peasants using the warband upgrade mechanic.

Includes all the units from my previous mod Bertrand the Brigand & the Bowmen of Bergerac as well as the camp mechanics from Brigand Encampments Knightless.

Unique units include:
- Bertrand the Brigand: (Legendary Lord ) Leader of the merry men, and expert bowman. Buffs ranged bowmen
- Gui le Gros: (Legendary Hero) Known for his consumption of food and wine, Gui supports his fellows by serving them wine
- Hugo le Petit: (Legendary Hero)
- Bowmen of Bergerac: Herrimault (RoR) Bertrand's personally trained bowmen. Count as "merry men" for campaign buffs and have free upkeep with Bertrand after getting the correct skill

Unique partial tech tree for the Survivors of Bergerac
- The "Chivralic Code" and "Decrees of Bretonnia" technology trees have been replaced with the "Herrimault's Code" and "Unorthodox Tactics" reflecting Bertrand's status as a Herrimault leader.
- The "Economic Investment" side of the skill tree remains unchanged.

Unique Landmark Building: "Ruins of Chateau Mal"
- The ruined keep of Bergerac is infested with Orcs and worse, and only the most skillful of outcasts would dare brave the ruins.
- Buffs Faceless Heroes and Crownless Lords, and allows recruitment of Herrimaults
- Located in the Castle Artois region at tier 4
- Available to all Bretonnian factions

Hi there maffers,

Could I speak to you about start_pos specifics when it comes to your mod(s)?

I have a series of start position mods which I've been considering to turn into a proper start_pos mod at some point, and I'd be interested in supporting hand-picked faction mods, such as yours.

I hope you're having a good day! :)

For some reason I can't recruit units or enter encampment stance to build 'Horde' buildings. Encamp stance just isn't present on the list of available stances for Bertrand's army to take. Any ideas what may be causing this?

@Darkslayer
This mod does not change any of the quests in the game in any way nor does it add or remove Tower of the Enchantresses, so I don't see how it would be this mod. Maybe it is another mod or a bug in the base game.

This mod is amazing. The only defect I've found is when attempting a Carcassone playthrough that an impossible objective comes up on the Morgiana's Mirror quest. It sets the number of Tower of the Enchantress that needs to be built to 2 instead of 1.

You could try this mod: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2853239174

You could also try changing the load order by moving the moving the position of the mods on the mod manager. Probably putting this mod higher (closer to 1st) than the other mod is the correct order.

hello I have a problem with the mod when I activate it to play it, I can no longer play the new characters from the new dlc. Like I didn't even see it appearing anymore ^^

I have updated this mod for v5.0 and the immortal empires map should be playable now.

Amazing mod! Have you considered integrating the deployable stakes from https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2860306662 ?

@Try_again_Bragg
TLDR: I will wait until the next DLC.
