Description
Auri creation myth holds that the world was created by the Dawn Father Azim, god of the sun, and the Dusk Mother Nhaama, goddess of the moon. The two deities quarreled over which should rule the new world, and created mortals to serve as their soldiers to wage a war by proxy. These were the first Au Ra—the Raen, children of the Dawn Father, and the Xaela, chosen of the Dusk Mother. At the culmination of their bitter struggle, the clans set aside their differences and learned to love one another, giving birth to a new generation. On seeing this, Azim and Nhaama returned to the heavens and bequeathed the world to their children.

This mod adds the Raen and Xaela Au Ra races from Final Fantasy XIV to RimWorld!

Mod Compatibility

  • This mod requires A Rim Reborn - Core to function.
  • This mod is currently not Combat Extended compatible, but support is planned for the near future.

Known Issues

  • Au ra apparel can be worn by any humanoid colonist, but artwork is only currently implemented for their respective gendered body types plus the Thin body type. Placeholder textures may appear if they are worn by other races.
  • Au ra uses rendering options from the latest version of Humanoid Alien Races (2023-04-17). If you are encountering errors, please check to ensure that your copy of HAR is up to date and try disabling any animation mods such as Yayo's Animations or Nal's Facial Animations until such time that they can be updated to support HAR's new features.

*heavy breathing* ONE OF EM GOT AN UPDATE! Woo that means the rest are gettin close, hopefully.

While xenotypes may be more simple than "true races", it would still be neat to be able to have crossbreeds of a sort. It may not be incredibly lore accurate, but for people who both love FFXIV and have big modlists, it would be neat to integrate into those systems for more flexibility.

I understand if you don't want to do it though. Maybe in the future Ill look into making a patch to integrate their features into xenotypes, if you don't mind, of course.

There's a weird glitch that sometimes happens where a save file with an Au'Ra will change the color of their scales to the opposite color and be irreversible, you will have to remake it in the save or start a new save. I had to remake the character as a new character, editting the pawn did not help.

@Zephyr - Thanks for the report! It is a known issue, and I will likely fix it by making au ra horns regrow over time to make it more lore-friendly, but in the meantime healer mech serum should still work, or honestly just don't feel bad about using dev mode to fix it for now. Apologies for the inconvenience!

As somone who just noticed their Aura having a shattered horn and with no way to fix it, I would ask if it's hard to code the horn as "ears" so the bionic ear implant and likewise surgery options are available to the Aura while you work on this implant?
It is still lore accurate to call them "ears" as it's the technical term to pick up soundwaves even if the appendages look more than horns then normal ears. Not trying to get into any lore / technically fight but I just think you could save yourself a lot of work.

@Ish9001 - As per FFXIV lore, au ra indeed do not have ears as they hear through their horns. I will likely add some custom bionics in the future as there are some other minor issues as well, such as there not being any replacement tails for several races.
Ish9001 7 Sep, 2024 @ 7:42pm
It would appear that the Au'ra lack the "ear" body part. I was attempting to get one of my doods cyber'd up and saw that the Au'ra could not make use of any of the bionic replacements that applied to ears. I assume this is not intentional, but that does make me wonder something: Do they have the Hearing stat? Or are their ears just not something one can apply bionics to?
Aelanna  [author] 17 Jul, 2024 @ 2:57pm
@★Nova★ - Most likely never. Xenotypes do not have as many features as true races, and thus any xenotype-based ARR "race" would be a downgrade.

xenotype when?

Hello, I have found a code error in your code, and the details are as follows.

[PAWN_nameDeft] served as a trader for [PAWN_possessive] tribe. [PAWN_pronoun] would transport [PAWN_possessive] tribe's excess supplies to places such as Reunion to be exchanged for valuable tools and merchandise and became necessarily skilled at fending for [PAWN_objective]self while traveling.
