The "Revised Edition" offers rebalancing, an improved theft system and numerous bug fixes for Gothic 1. It's about improving things that bothered me when playing the game and increasing the level of difficulty, since Gothic 1 no longer delivers a challenge for experienced players.
The game is not expanded to include new fan fiction content. Except for a few diary entries, a letter and reactivated dialogues, the texts of the game correspond to the original. I was also reluctant to change items: some models and textures were replaced by other existing ones and some items like the dragonroot now give a permanent bonus. The fixed armors by Bloodfly91 were also integrated and a few spell scroll textures were adjusted. However, there is full compatibility with all graphics patches.

Features:
- Numerous bugs in artificial intelligence, object placement, the dialogue logic and much more were eradicated.
- Improved theft system: pickpocketing works better and is now worth it, people react better to theft, lockpicking has to be learned
- Rebalancing: difficulty increased, two-handers are now viable from the start
- Traders cannot be robbed anymore.
- The game better notices whether quests have failed and tracks them in the diary accordingly. If you have messed up the admission quests for all three camps, you can continue guildless.
- Many illogical story blocks were removed. You can now go into the Sleeper's temple at any time. This means that "shortcuts" can be taken in the story without causing problems. However, problems can still arise if you bypass locked gates via bugusing.
- Many other little things

Gameplay notes:
- Permanent bonuses can be used at any time.
- Dexterity is added to ranged weapon damage.
- Guildless players and Shadows can learn the 1st stage of two-handed combat from Thorus.
- The 2nd stage of one-handed combat requires a camp membership.
- Pickpocketing and lockpicking have one level each.
- If you are caught by an NPC for the first time when pickpocketing, he asks why you are sneaking. He attacks the second time.

Sorry, but I can't be bothered to ensure compatibility with each of the over 100 mods. Is that Gamepad mod compatible with the default Ninja free aiming patch?

I see a lot of positive reviews. But my first impraions far from excitement.
1. Shaking when free aiming makes bows even worse (0 and 1st lv bow mastery) at early game than in vanilla (in vanila bows useless). Also no option for change\turn of shaking from gothic.ini, you can only turn of free aming.
2. There is no compatibility with gamepad mod (impossible to aim with magic; with bows aiming turning right and left is not available)

I just finished a playthrough with this mod and I totally recommend it. My only suggestion would be to make DEX/archery a more viable play style by adding DEX-based melee weapons. In Gothic, whether you want it or not, you have to start off as a melee fighter. But your playthrough gets extremely more difficult if you want to try and forego STR and only train DEX because enemies close in fast and you cannot get good with a bow as quickly as you can with a sword. Solution: add more Dexterity based melee weapons. Other than that - great mod, great difficulty, great balance. Thanks!

I can see that this mod adds some bows. Does it make archery a viable playstyle? In vanilla, archery is way less powerful than melee.
