Description
Mod Version 1.15, for Stellaris v3.12.5

This mod makes several changes to megastructures, including the ability to build additional copies of them, or to build them in more places. Also adds some additional useful buildings for orbital rings.

- Removes the per-country build limit for the megastructures Dyson Sphere, Think Tank, Matter Decompressor, Strategic Coordination Center, Mega Art Installation, Interstellar Assembly, and Mega Shipyard.
- Mega Shipyards, Dyson Spheres, and Dyson Swarms can now be built in binary or trinary star systems, like Quantum Catapults. Dyson Spheres and Swarms still cannot be built around a brown dwarf, as these are barely more than glorified gas giants.
- Stellaris v3.5.2 reapplied the old restriction of one megastructure per system; this mod removes it.
- Dyson Spheres can be built or upgraded in systems with Arc Furnaces, up to the penultimate stage (the final stage would freeze the molten world, so this is still restricted).
- Contingency core relic now allows one additional simultaneous megastructure build, since the new primary effect from v3.5.2 is made irrelevant by this mod.
- Removed first stage of gateway construction. Total costs added together so it is all paid at once, and built in one stage.
- Adjusted influence cost of Hyper Relays to balance at about 1/5 of a gateway (to match the alloys).
- Federation allies can now build hyper relays and gateways in each others' territory (like overlords already could for their vassals).
- Overlords can now restore/activate gateways in subject territory, in addition to building new ones.
- Removed additional influence cost for upgrading orbital rings.
- Fleet academy starbase buildings are now buildable in orbital rings.
- Orbital rings for machine empires now have an equivalent to the bureaucracy hub to boost unity.
- Added a research-focus building for orbital rings.

Does this work fine with 4.0?

@seanmng I should also note, this mod also re-enables building a Dyson Sphere the old way from scratch even if you have the machine age DLC, in case you are at your Swarm limit and don't want to upgrade any of your existing ones (for instance, if they were all built for science or other resources instead of energy), but it is a bit slower and more expensive overall so starting with Swarms is still preferable when you can.

@seanmng I haven't modded out the Dyson Swarm or Arc Furnace caps in this mod. But yes, as you say, upgrading a Swarm to a Sphere should free up that slot so that more Swarms can be built, and you could potentially do that with all of them with this mod, instead of just one.

@suzarr - Is there a way around the Dyson Swarm build cap, or do they just need to be upgraded to first stage of sphere to have more than the vanilla limit?

@Mecka Tinker, All of my files say 3.12.4, Steam probably just hasn't pushed the update to you yet. To force it, you can either briefly unsubscribe and resubscribe (faster for just one mod), or have Steam run "verify integrity of game files" and it will check and update all of your mods as well as the game itself.

Although the mod is declared to be updated, the "descriptor file" claims this mod is intended for 3.10.4 currently. I assume the mods features are updated but that particular file isn't and confuses people into thinking it actually isn't updated.

THANK YOU

Gigastructural Engineering already has its own version of this. When its mod options screen pops up on day two, go to the megastructure selection page and set either unlimited or tech-based megastructure limit.
Suzarr  [author] 1 Apr, 2024 @ 1:38pm
@titititi It is not compatible with Gigastructures, or anything else that would mess with megastructures generally
