The Bones of the Mountain

Description
All is not well on Solasta. In an awful echo of the Cataclysm, small rifts have been openening all over the world. Most close again quickly, but not before monsters of all types and kinds have come through.

Many places have suddenly become uninhabitable and their inhabitants have been fleeing to the protection of fortified structures. One such structure is the "Stronghold of the Mountain's Bones," known just as "the Stronghold" to those who now call it home.

Your group has come to this Stronghold, each for reasons of your own. But you intend to offer your aid in this world gone suddenly mad.

---------------------------------------------------------------

This is a Level 1-10/12 Campaign, extended and adapted from my original CODM 4 entry, which means that the early part might seem familiar if you have played that.

The Main Quest will guarantee that you get to Level 10, but depending on how many combat encounters you take, Level 12 is comfortably reachable. Total playtime is somewhere in the 15-20 hours range.

@Barry20 Did you get the quest update of destroy the last guardian only after you killed it? Unfortunately, for that update you need to step just in the room. (One square past the door.) You were probably just short, and that broke the quest. Unfortunately any general update to the campaign I make will have no impact if you have already killed the construct. If you still have the autosave after killing the constructs in the hallway, you might try again from there, and have someone step just into the room.

Couldn't finish it. Killed the last construct behind the gate while still hidden in the hallway. Threw the bomb, got the message about the soraks but no soraks arrived. Quest stuck in Destroy the last guardian.

got it, thank you.

@ksfeeman, the bomb is more for flavor, you should have gotten it from the general up top. The actual destroying happens through clicking on a dialog on the southwestern pillar near the gate. It should light up when you hit alt, but it might be a bit obscured by the glowing sigils.

I got to the gate to destroy, but I don't think I have the bomb. Did I miss it somewhere? Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

@tristan, just to check. After killing the demon in the small room, and you talk to Dianthus again, does he tell you about the gate, and does the quest "off to see the wizard" update to tell you to go speak to general Tremane? And then you get teleported back to the small room where you fought the demon?

If you speak to Dianthus again, does he tell you to go away, or does he tell you about the gate again. And you loaded the save from disk so you're using the latest version?

It might work if you use a save from before entering the tower with the latest version so it loads again completely, but that would mean you have to do the whole tower again.

@franavu I reloaded at a save before talking to the lore master and kill that demon again, however after talking with him,the portal still cricle around between the demon room and his room.. how early I should load it?

@tristan I appreciate your patience, and I'm sorry for the situation. I've updated again, and I think it should work now. If it still doesn't work, loading an earlier save if you still have one might help.

The problem is unfortunately the result of an oversight of mine during creation, which miraculously hasn't come up thus far. The updates I've made so far should prevent it happening in the future, but unfortunately you're right in the middle of it which makes fixing it a little more complicated.

@franavu thank you, I appreciate your effort, but it looks like it still stays the same after updating...

@tristan I think I figured out what the problem was. My last bugfix was not interacting with an earlier bugfix, which caused the loop. If you're using version 1.08, loading from hard drive and talking to Dianthus again should fix it, hopefully. I had two updates right after another because the first one would prevent your problem in the future, but wouldn't actually fix it if it was already there, so please make sure you have the last one (1.08). If it still doesn't work, please let me know, and I'll take another look at it tomorrow.
