@Barry20 Did you get the quest update of destroy the last guardian only after you killed it? Unfortunately, for that update you need to step just in the room. (One square past the door.) You were probably just short, and that broke the quest. Unfortunately any general update to the campaign I make will have no impact if you have already killed the construct. If you still have the autosave after killing the constructs in the hallway, you might try again from there, and have someone step just into the room.
Barry20 2 May @ 10:29pm
Couldn't finish it. Killed the last construct behind the gate while still hidden in the hallway. Threw the bomb, got the message about the soraks but no soraks arrived. Quest stuck in Destroy the last guardian.
ksfeeman 26 Nov, 2024 @ 5:08pm
got it, thank you.
franavu  [author] 26 Nov, 2024 @ 8:31am
@ksfeeman, the bomb is more for flavor, you should have gotten it from the general up top. The actual destroying happens through clicking on a dialog on the southwestern pillar near the gate. It should light up when you hit alt, but it might be a bit obscured by the glowing sigils.
ksfeeman 25 Nov, 2024 @ 8:04pm
I got to the gate to destroy, but I don't think I have the bomb. Did I miss it somewhere? Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
franavu  [author] 29 Jun, 2024 @ 8:56am
@tristan, just to check. After killing the demon in the small room, and you talk to Dianthus again, does he tell you about the gate, and does the quest "off to see the wizard" update to tell you to go speak to general Tremane? And then you get teleported back to the small room where you fought the demon?

If you speak to Dianthus again, does he tell you to go away, or does he tell you about the gate again. And you loaded the save from disk so you're using the latest version?

It might work if you use a save from before entering the tower with the latest version so it loads again completely, but that would mean you have to do the whole tower again.
tristan 29 Jun, 2024 @ 8:21am
@franavu I reloaded at a save before talking to the lore master and kill that demon again, however after talking with him,the portal still cricle around between the demon room and his room.. how early I should load it?
franavu  [author] 29 Jun, 2024 @ 6:14am
@tristan I appreciate your patience, and I'm sorry for the situation. I've updated again, and I think it should work now. If it still doesn't work, loading an earlier save if you still have one might help.

The problem is unfortunately the result of an oversight of mine during creation, which miraculously hasn't come up thus far. The updates I've made so far should prevent it happening in the future, but unfortunately you're right in the middle of it which makes fixing it a little more complicated.
tristan 28 Jun, 2024 @ 4:28pm
@franavu thank you, I appreciate your effort, but it looks like it still stays the same after updating...
franavu  [author] 28 Jun, 2024 @ 3:16pm
@tristan I think I figured out what the problem was. My last bugfix was not interacting with an earlier bugfix, which caused the loop. If you're using version 1.08, loading from hard drive and talking to Dianthus again should fix it, hopefully. I had two updates right after another because the first one would prevent your problem in the future, but wouldn't actually fix it if it was already there, so please make sure you have the last one (1.08). If it still doesn't work, please let me know, and I'll take another look at it tomorrow.
tristan 28 Jun, 2024 @ 1:07pm
@franavu thank you, since I play in another language system, I assume it is "load from hard drive instead online save", right?, it is still the same, that i stuck in that loop
franavu  [author] 28 Jun, 2024 @ 6:45am
@tristan That is a bug, after killing the demon and speaking to the loremaster again, the next quest step should be to report back to General Tremane and you should be teleported back to the entrance room. I think I've fixed the issue in version 1.06, can you load your save from disk and let me know if you get back to the entrance room?
tristan 27 Jun, 2024 @ 12:59pm
After killing the demon the loremaster shows a portal, I step on the portal and get into a small room. When I step on the portal in that room, I come back to loremaster. Is that a bug?
rustythorn 26 Jun, 2024 @ 8:39am
ok thanks, i've found that i hit lv 20 as a single character around the time that a four character party hits lv 11, thats why i pick lv 1-12 games to solo
franavu  [author] 26 Jun, 2024 @ 8:36am
@rustythorn yes, I'm doing milestone leveling.

-lvl 2: after reporting about the 1st two cooks
-lvl 3: end of "Infiltrators" quests
-lvl 4: end of "Investigation" quest
-lvl 5: end of "Evacuation" quest
-lvl 6: end of "The Black Crow Inn" quest
-lvl 7: end of "Off To See The Wizard" quest
-lvl 8: end of "Stabbing the Bloody Heart" quest
-lvl 9: At the locked door in the "Destroying the Gate" quest
-lvl 10: end of "Destroying the Gate" quest

However, especially the last few levels, depending on sidequests, how you approach "Stabbing The Bloody Heart" and how many fights you do in the last dungeon, you can easily hit lvl 10-12 before the final fight. In testing I tended to hit it at lvl 10/11 with a 4-man party. Balance is very difficult at lvl 9, difficult at 10 and somewhat difficult at 11. (I wanted the last fight to be memorable.)
rustythorn 26 Jun, 2024 @ 8:12am
ok, are you using milestones and leveling by level or pure XP? because i'm doing this with a single character. if using milestones where are the leveling points so i can adjust accordingly
franavu  [author] 26 Jun, 2024 @ 7:31am
@rustythorn I had a look, and as far as I can tell, you can't head through the fireplace door until you've had the lvl 2 levelup in the "infiltrators" quest, (the quest shows the dialog and the dialog the door). I'm not sure what's going on. Are you playing with UB, and do you have a setting active that changes xp gain?
franavu  [author] 26 Jun, 2024 @ 6:34am
@rustythorn At this point, just by following the main quest, you should be at lvl 3. The levelup to 2 is after you've cleared 2 of the of the cooks from suspicion and speak to Steward Laina near the entrance of the refugee quarters. You levelup to 3 after you speak to her again when she shows up in the secret passage after you've killed the Sorak Assassin.

Where are you currently in the main quest? The fireplace exit shouldn't have shown up until after you could level to 2. I'm having a look now, and it looks like there might be an issue with the door showing up too early.
rustythorn 25 Jun, 2024 @ 10:41pm
i must have missed something; i'm facing 5 soraks, one of which is the flying cleric and i only have a total of 1150 XP for the whole party. that would put a party of four still at 1st level. that is too hard of a battle for 1st level? i barely was able to defeat the single sorak.
franavu  [author] 6 May, 2024 @ 12:56pm
@Kosocku the campaign exit is at the end of the mountain path, if you follow the path past the turning where you went to Coldwater village it should show up.
Kosocku 5 May, 2024 @ 3:17pm
Question: I've done the final quest, was told to go back to the stronghold, and spoke to General Tremane and Lady Warden, but I can't seem to find the exit to close it all out and export the characters. Am I missing something? Or is there no exit?
franavu  [author] 24 Dec, 2023 @ 6:55am
@Oltex After talking to the cooks, the steward is right outside of the kitchen, you should see her as soon as you walk out of the kitchen doors. Speaking with her there will progress the quest.
Oltex 22 Dec, 2023 @ 11:46am
So I reloaded an older save and tried again. The first time I was able to talk to all 3 cooks, made some intuition checks, and triggered some dialogue. Second time, NONE of the cooks would talk to me but I could interact with items near each one and passed all 3 skill checks (I edited the diff to give +10 to skill checks thinking I failed one originally and it caused my first issue. Dont recall the interactive items on my first attempt. However, still have same issue, the Steward will not talk to me.
Oltex 22 Dec, 2023 @ 11:36am
Also, already stuck. Finished talking to the cooks, went back to the Steward but she wont speak to me, keeps saying shes busy. So, cannot proceed.
Oltex 22 Dec, 2023 @ 11:21am
Just started and notice there is a typo on the intro. "Openening" vs "opening"
franavu  [author] 30 Nov, 2023 @ 2:41am
@ResumeMan Thank you for playing and I'm really glad you've enjoyed it. The lack of vendors was deliberate as I was trying to create a feeling of scarcity in a semi-apocalypse.

I tried to put at least some basic crafting recipes in, but I often forget that crafting is even an option when playing myself, so I didn't pay a great deal of attention to it. I also didn't want to put in recipes without making sure the ingredients were available. If I do another update in the future I might take another look at this, so thank you for the feedback!
ResumeMan 29 Nov, 2023 @ 10:54pm
I really liked this adventure. Well put together, with a detailed story (the story's pretty by the numbers and linear, but really no more so than the Crown campaign). It's the first community module I've played with world travel, so that was fun. The slog up the mountain was pretty fun, and there were a lot of nicely created encounters.

My only real complaint was a lack of vendors selling interesting stuff, and a lack of crafting recipes generally. But overall one of my faves of the 10+ user scenarios I've played.
benjamin_gerardo 21 Nov, 2023 @ 10:34pm
Thanks. I found that out a while after I sent the message.
franavu  [author] 14 Nov, 2023 @ 2:23am
@benjamin_gerardo Thank you for playing! There is a clickable dialog which will give you hints on what to do to activate the teleporter near where you are teleported in on every floor of the tower.

In the alchemy lab it is on a table right in front of where you are teleported in, that will activate another dialog on the wall behind te teleporter and things will be clearer from there (I don't want to spoil the puzzle) though you might have to mouse over some props later to find everything. (The lights in the tower are just lights, I just like the way the look.)
benjamin_gerardo 13 Nov, 2023 @ 7:15pm
Hi, I am in the alchemy lab on the 3rd floor of Dianthus' Tower. I assume there is a way to get the teleporter to work? There is no clue how but I suspect it has to do with the light.
franavu  [author] 6 Nov, 2023 @ 2:14pm
@DiceWrangler Thank you for playing and recommending! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
DiceWrangler 6 Nov, 2023 @ 1:54pm
OK, I finished the adventure after reloading from an earlier save game. Originally, I may have interacted with the object prior to finishing the fight with the last construct so the quest was not able to advance far enough; the construct was next to the object so I was hoping that the bomb might damage it too.

Anyway, great adventure and I recommended it, thank you!

I wish there were some textual clues about the different types of same-named Manacalon Constructs (Golems) to help identify what type they were and which elemental effects to use -- or avoid using. The final construct, for example, could have a clue that it was made of ice so I would have known to watch out for cold-based attacks and use fire-based attacks. A previous construct, however, was healed by fire (like an lron Golem) so I would "probe" each one with different attacks before unleashing my big spells.
franavu  [author] 6 Nov, 2023 @ 3:26am
@DiceWrangler there is a clickable dialog near the gate (on a pillar iirc) where you can "use" the firebomb. I gave the item more for flavor than anything else. Good luck after, though, you're not quite done with the fighting ;)
DiceWrangler 5 Nov, 2023 @ 3:00pm
How do I *use* the Firebomb?

I am at the spot where I expect to be able to use it but the only options are Drop and Close and I cannot equip it. Interacting with the (target) just results in "Door cannot be opened." The firebomb is an ingredient but I doubt that I can (or need to) craft anything with it. So close!

The number of constructs (Golems) in the final caverns gets a bit tedious after the first few encounters. I recommend reducing the size of the area and removing a few constructs or replacing them with some different like Elementals.
franavu  [author] 19 Oct, 2023 @ 2:44am
@jones.martyn I'll have a look at the exits, I think I forgot to rename the lowest one and it's using the map name I use for myself.

The report to General Tremane is in the ruined village on top of the mountain, I should clarify that in the quest. Then you get the final quest to speak to the Lady Warder, which gets you some final loot, ( and the thanks of a grateful stronghold ;) ). It also activates the campaign exit.
martyn jones 19 Oct, 2023 @ 12:19am
And another problem:
I've made my way back to the main stronghold's "War Room" and reported to General Tremane. He just says "Good luck" and the quest status didn't progress.
martyn jones 19 Oct, 2023 @ 12:13am
Bug report:
After the gate destruction and that room's battle, the quest is to go back to report to the general. I made my way back up through a couple of maps, to the crystal cavern. When trying to exit from that map (at the virtual door in front of the upstairs model) the game crashes with a message of "The target entrance index is invalid: 1"

Fortunately it's possible to go back down to the destroyed gate and then exit that level by choosing the second of the two offered destinations. It was called the "ruined gate" (IIRC). I'd not taken that choice earlier because I thought it meant the campaigns major ruined gate just a few feet away on the current level. Fortunately it was a far less important ruined gate, so I got out.
imakedoughmoorgar 17 Oct, 2023 @ 11:22pm
Ta much obliged
franavu  [author] 17 Oct, 2023 @ 9:53am
@imakedoughmoorgar No worries, most of the levels of the wizard's tower have a dialog near where you are teleported in to give a hint to make the teleporter work. On the 3rd floor check the little desk right in front where you teleported in then check on the wall behind the teleporter, and go from there. You might have to mouseover some of the props to find everything, though the lights are just lights, I just like the way they look.
imakedoughmoorgar 17 Oct, 2023 @ 9:33am
enjoying your campaign but stuck on third level of dianthus tower. tried the lights in various combination but cannot figure it out. dumbass 50 year old
franavu  [author] 16 Oct, 2023 @ 1:03pm
@charles_watkins This is outside in the dwarves village, right? I'll take another look at it. Though, it might be that one of the enemies spawned where another was already positioned and the game shunted him into a wrong place.

It also sounds like you were on the way out after killing everyone inside, in that case the later waves of enemies shouldn't have happened because everyone was already supposed to be dead. That's a bug I've fixed already.

Though this does remind me that now, if you come up from the tunnel and head for the gate from the outside to kill the last few enemies, the gate is hard locked and you can't reach anyone beyond that at all. I'll have to fix that as well. Anyway, thank you for the information, it's definitely helpful.
charles_watkins 16 Oct, 2023 @ 12:10pm
The guy was stuck on the corner of the tower to the right of the entry.

I came up from the underground and made it to the gate. That started the battle, but I had the initiative to pass through the entry and cast spikes behind me. After that it took a turn to get positioned to shoot everything that came out. Got out of range and the mages chased. My guys are all deadeye with multiple shots. I almost ran out of crossbow bolts.
franavu  [author] 15 Oct, 2023 @ 2:57am
@jones.martyn oh, ffs, I thought I'd turned that off. Yeah I'll do that ASAP, thank you for letting me know.
martyn jones 15 Oct, 2023 @ 2:14am
Bug report...
I made a couple of attempts at taking on the Bloody Heart village frontally, and nearly succeeded both times, but was undone by the baddies' mages being able to cast spells through walls (not just Lightning Bolt either!), and I couldn't attack them back. After two loooong battle failures, I decided to take them on via the pipe.

After finishing all of them off one room at a time, I had two thoughts: "That was MUCH easier", and "I never noticed the enemy scout in any of the room-by-room battles. I bet he's still hiding in that bush out by the front gate. I wonder what'll happen if I let him 'catch us' again."

So I walked out of the village's front gate, the scout leapt out, then a WHOLE lot of familiar baddies turned up ready to do battle (again). You need to turn that off.

Otherwise going well. Thanks.
franavu  [author] 14 Oct, 2023 @ 8:59am
@charles_watkins Thank you, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! I'll take a look at the Bloody Hearts to make sure I didn't place anyone in an impossible to reach place, but sometimes the ai goes a bit weird. Do you remember where exactly you encountered him? Was this in the frontal assault, or did you go in the back way?
charles_watkins 14 Oct, 2023 @ 8:36am
Just finished at level 13. Might have been 14, but when I killed the Bloody Heart garrison, there was one guy stuck on an impassible square and I did not have enough area spells left to kill him. So I had to exit and return and never collected all that experience. There was plenty of treasure though.

It was a long fight but not difficult. I put spikes at the entry, stood back, and shot them as they came out. Took almost no damage.

My one complaint was lack of shops. I ended up with a massive amount of gold and crafting components, but no way to use them.

But overall, this was an excellent campaign that makes good use of the world map and requires smart play. I enjoyed having the NPC followers. The cleric was quite valuable. Highest rating.
franavu  [author] 14 Oct, 2023 @ 1:39am
@jones.martyn Thank you for being so thorough on telling me what happened, it gives me a much better idea on where to look to figure out what went wrong so I can fix it.

I'm glad you found a workaround and can continue with the campaign. I hope you'll continue to enjoy the rest of it.
martyn jones 13 Oct, 2023 @ 7:46pm
Franavu, thanks for responding so quickly.

I reloaded a QuickSave taken after my last farming battle, walked into the room for 1st time, and nothing.
Because the "As you press the final button..." message came 1 battle early, I reloaded an earlier QuickSave, made just BEFORE my last farming battle. Instead of doing that battle, I walked into the treasure room -- and everything worked perfectly!

It seems that the bug is something that occurs if the player fights ALL of the button battles (maybe doing the last/extra battle turns the treasure room's activator off). Another factor might (or might not) be that the treasure room's door was open during those battles, as I'd already 'solved' the riddle).

BTW, during the fight I was looking forward to seeing what loot the two high-level-ish combatants would drop after I killed them. I was disappointed that they dropped nothing. Can I suggest you give them some drops?
franavu  [author] 13 Oct, 2023 @ 6:18pm
@jones.martyn Have you walked right up to the platforms in the centre of the treasure room? That should drop the treasure in your inventory, with another text screen, (and possibly other stuff depending on what happened with the npcs you encountered earlier.)

Please let me know if walking up doesn't work (you need to be right in front of them). I thought I had ironed out the bugs in that quest, but I might have missed something.
martyn jones 13 Oct, 2023 @ 2:35pm
franavu, I'm intellectually stuck in the "Find the Treasure" room, not able to find the treasure.A hint would be appreciated?
If it matters, I got the gate to open by doing two of the button battles, then I did what the riddle required, and then I did all the rest of the button battles too -- for XP farming! -- and only then entered the treasure room. Maybe that double-activating the entrance somehow disabled what is meant to happen in the room? Or maybe I'm just dumb?
BTW, During the process of farming all the button battles, near the end, a popup message appeared saying "As you press the final button, ..." I could be wrong, but I think that message appeared when I pressed the PENULTIMATE button (i.e. one button early). After that battle, I was still able to press another button to get one more battle.
