This mod is an updated version of JO's Chosen of Tzeentch mod.
I did my best but a few things were pretty much borked beyond repair and needed to be replaced.
I also added a few weapon and shield variants and made other minor changes and fixes so don't expect a perfect replica of the 1.3 version of this mod.
Overall though: the vast majority of JO's work is still pretty much intact.

*Please consult the Known Issues and QA sections before commenting, thanks.*

*NOTICE* All of my screenshots are taken with my *new* certified potato pc™.
This means (at least in theory) that my custom units will look better on your high-end machine (if you do have one).
So don't be scared off by my horrible screenshots, thanks.

*NOTICEX2* All of these custom models are LOD 0 only.
This means that (aside from the units' impostor models generated at long distances) these custom units will not lose details when zooming out.
This may result in a minor or moderate impact on your FPS.

Please notice that the units' stats screenshot was taken with the unit size setting set to large, so expect more HP if you are playing on Ultra.

This mod adds all of the following units:
-Chosen of Tzeentch (Great Weapons)
-Chosen of Tzeentch (Halberds)
-Chosen of Tzeentch (Greatswords)
-Chosen of Tzeentch

While these names may create some confusion with the vanilla version of the Chosen of Tzeentch, I'm positive that you will manage to recognize JO's beautiful unit cards right away.

You can recruit them through:
-The Daemons of Chaos' advanced Tzeentch building chain, DO NOTE that you'll also need to unlock a certain number of Tzeentch's body parts in the Daemonic Glory system to be able to recruit these units.
-The Warriors of Chaos' (exclusively Vilitch) Dark Fortress Warriors building chain *(Requires The Local Recruitment for Warriors of Chaos mod)*.
-The Tzeentch's Monster barraks

*To recap, these units are only available to Tzeentch, Daemons of Chaos and Vilitch*

Ok, presentation over: let's dive into the technical stuff!

*COMPATIBILITY*

As far as I know this mod works with pretty much everything that do not mess too much with vanilla units.

*KNOWN ISSUES*
-Some clipping here and there.
-If you are experiencing weird glowing effects on the units then please use this mod https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2922534576 until CA officially fixes that issue.
-Missing textures with certain graphic settings/while looking from certain angles: LOD issues/missing textures issues can be caused by low settings, LOD mods, Immortal Empires bugs and/or even some faulty version of H3ro asset editor.
Translated= I generally can't do anything about that.
If you are experiencing low poly models+missing textures there isn't a common solution that works for everyone, but I managed to fix that by doing the following:
-Disable Sharpening
-Enable FXAA
-Enable Unlimited video memory

*QA*

-"That's cool and all but did you get JO's permission?"
I did ask but didn't get any reply so far.
He already gave his permission to use these assets to another modder for another mod so I hope that he will stay cool and gave me his official blessing when/if he's going to get in touch with me.
Again: it's unclear to me if Jo is planning to eventually return or if he's retired from modding altogether.
Atm he's been online multiple times and recently played WH 3 so I have no idea of why he's not monitoring his mod's pages and not replying to comments.
EDIT: JO has replied and gave me his official blessing!

-"Lord's Red line?Tech buffs?"
They have generic Chosen unit sets, so they should get buffs related to those sets.

-"SFO/Radious ecc. ?"
As a matter of fact I'm officially retired from SFO/Overhaul related mods.
As always: If you already have previous experience in SFO submodding feel free to make an SFO version out of any of my mods that are currently missing one, I will link your submods if you provide me with a link.

-"Your mods are ugly and janky, why? just why?"
Here's a friendly reminder: I'm just an amateur and nothing more.
If you want beautiful stuff with no jank then stick with CA and/or professional modders and avoid my mods, simple as that really.

Yes, you can achieve that by taking the graphical assets from this mod and then by overwriting the vanilla Chosen's variantmeshdefinition and some ui related stuff (unit card+porthole) values with Frodo's RPFM.
Basically you'll have to make a separate reskin mod.
You can learn how to mod and get all the tools and info by joining Da Modding Den's discord.
Is there a way to reskin the existing chosen units instead of having these guys as their own units?

Hey, thanks for replying!

From what I have seen they closely resemble the ushabti I imagine there wouldn't need so many new resourced and animations aside from the model replacement and other stats, but I never made mods for total war warhammer, at least yet
- and if you would grant me this huge boon to see it revived, I wouldn't mind if you merged it with other tzeentch mods, "Minions of the Changer of ways", I swear some of the units I have seen for this faction look straight from the old Sacrifice game, the one with the funny god called Stratos had some similar minions, as a design direction, I really thought there would be some beholders for tzeentch, illithid-like, AI Overview on google made a compelling argument, or some more blue iron daemons, seems like Khorne get a lot more daemonsmith constructs than Tzeentch.
Pardon my rambling.

Kairos could really use more toys, hyped for that magic rework they're getting.

Currently I don't have any plans to restore broken mods from other modders.
Plus, I'm not 100% sure that Ramen Fornow is really retired at this point in time, considering that his last mod on the workshop was posted back on 30/04/2024, which is a long time but really not THAT long when you think about it.
Maybe he's just burnout with WH 3 or busy with other stuff that took him away from modding.
*IF* I'm going to attempt a restoration in the future I would probably try to merge Puppets and Daemons of Tzeentch in a single mod, since I don't really see a point in having them as separate mods, but if he did use custom animations and/or custom tech skeletons for any of his custom units then a restoration would be impossible for me since I don't make custom animations/tech skeletons and as such I do not know how to fix and maintain broken custom animations/tech skeletons.

Hey, would you do the same update treatment for Puppets of Tzeentch? that mod has been outdated for a while and the game wont even launch with it loaded in, if not, thanks anyway, looking foward to playing with the chosen

No sorry, I was interested in just this particular mod.
Shouldn't be too hard to fix that reskin/making a similar one, so someone else will most likely revive/make a new version of that reskin in the future.
