Jaggid's Family Meals

Description
Adds family sized meal options to recipes, which basically allow for cooking more servings at one time and Large Pot recipes for all oven-made drinks.

The recipes are unlocked and unhidden automatically after you have cooked (or otherwise recieved) at least one serving of the food/beverage item. I did it this way so your recipe options are not cluttered for items which you aren't actively using in your current playthrough.

Also adds the following new recipes:
  • Salad - A quick meal made from veggies. It doesn't satisfy hunger as well as more hardy meals, but it keeps your survivors fed and is easy to whip up.
  • 3 New Stew recipes, taking advantage of slow cooking techniques, which takes little time in the kitchen for a survivor, but has an extended device use time.
The first is Mulligan Stew, which is a quick meal and can be prepared on the camp fire, the other two are Tasty meals, and can be prepared on the cook stove or electric oven.
All 3 come only in "family sized" options.
  • Two new research projects. One which allows you to unlock Desertum-specific recipes on non-desertum maps, and one which allows you unlock non-desertum recipes if you are on Desertum. Useful if you are on the trading scenario and unlock the region-specific ingredients when on a map where the recipes just do not show up.
  • Carnivore and Herbivore food recipes as an alternate to slop. Stolen from Waterdragon77's "A collection of recipes" mod which has long since stopped receiving updates and is now hidden on the workshop.
  • Fruit Salad, stolen from Sarge85's Fruit salad mod which also has stopped receiving updates and no longer functions.
  • Mushroomsoup, stolen from Seidenfuchs' Mushroomsoup mod, yet another that has stopped receiving updates and no longer functions.

If you're just looking for the ability to craft larger batches of things across the board, I'd recommend Batch Crafting instead. This mod is more for those who want the option for smaller or larger batches without having to muck about in settings to switch between them.

For additional large batch recipe options see Improved Fermenter, Improved Oil Press, Large Batch Recipes and Family Meals.

For those curious, the reason for multiple, smaller mods for these new recipes is because I prefer a modular approach to mods, rather than single, large mods that do a lot of stuff. It's both easier to maintain as a mod creator, and easier to eliminate any mod conflicts for the end user.

@caschel, That's already available in a different mod that I made for distilling and fermenting recipes: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3092048208

Could you make the distilery produce rhum or cachaça ou of syrup?

would be nice if we could get comp with the water mod.

If you're bored, would love if you duplicated Seidenfuch's recipes too, some of them are really creative (I love to reward a character by forcing him to eat strawberry pancakes). Hasn't been updated in a while (march), so it's probably dead too.

It's really something that should have some sort of call out in the UI rather than just a "Tasty" meal etc. I'm sure most players assume each level of meals provides the same fullness (which a majority do) but when modded consumables enter the arena that changes things up.

i see, thanks for explaining it to me though, i would have never known that was something that could be utilized in modding. i mess with mod editor often, but never publish things. i have made custom traits and injuries, illnesses, etc, but never messed with consumables or items in general really. just character specific stuff. really, never have to, you do everything i would want to tweak already, haha. you always come out with something right as im thinking "this would be interesting to mess with, wonder if it was already done though?"

The game's default meals pretty much all have exactly the same calorie values, so it's not really even particularly relevant unless you add meals via mods. I personally thought it was a pretty cool element implemented in the game though, so I messed with trying some different things with it.

This mod was just released, but I've been using it in my own game since release. I kind of like having some meal options that "stretch" the ingredients further, but with lower caloric counts per meal. Seeing as I make my mods for myself, and just share them for anyone else who might want to use them, I left it in for the public release.

interesting. that is pretty awesome, really! however, how does the same 10 ingredients (say, 10 juiceleaf) have a varying caloric value based on how you prepare it? sounds like magic... lmao. so how do you figure out what is best to use? just trial and error? i had been assigning food simply by what people prefer to keep happiness highest, and then using schedule to make them eat at same time as a group. i guess that explains why they like eating sweet syrup when they have actual meals available, maybe they dont need all the calories from the meals?

Yep, the calories is an under-the-hood thing. In-game it never shows you or even mentions it. But the calories determine how much of the "Fullness" bar actually gets filled when you eat a meal.

Survivors generally eat too soon, so you might "think" a meal always fills the bar. But it doesn't necessarily do so. Especially if you use my taskmaster mod, which is better at limiting how frequently survivors eat than the default game scheduling.
