AH-6 Modified "Big" Bird

The AH-6 "Big" Bird is a modified Magpie Helicopter built to specialize in rapid infil missions with an enhanced ability to provide close air support during its extended loiter. This helicopter is capable of bringing in over 6 fully equipped soldiers at nearly 175kph while maintaining ground and air superiority. It is equipped for general resupply offering ammunition and medical supplies to a team on the ground.

This Helicopter has a finely tuned gyro (altitude hold is enabled hold W to move forward do not continue to hold the collective when travelling) enabling impressive maneuvers and movement in small spaces (it can take Koth Naval hanger easily) Autopilot for distant drop points

The helicopter is covered in experimental CRABComposites armor packages to protect occupants and engine/rotor. While not a true coaxial (YET) the dual rotors provide an increased survival rate compared to standard layouts. All major systems have been moved to the rear of the heli increasing the chances of a no instruments landing survival.

The heli is also fitted with additional survival features:
An onboard FIRE management system that can be manually operated but will activate automatically with a fire in either the cabin or engine bay
A Rotor repair system for repairing both main and tail rotors from inside the cabin
Enhanced landing skids for rough landings
The enhanced cockpit offers resistance to all small arms fire and reduces the impact of HE rounds.




Compared to Its Older Brother the "Magpie" - the "Big" Bird is fully HEVS EHCS integrated meaning it can (with little to no modification at all) carry all of the weapons from the following weapon packs:

The "Big" Bird carries a standard payload of:
2x Light auto cannons (integrated lasers) with 400rds HE each
2x Dumbfire rocket pods (integrated lasers) with 16 rockets each
2x NNTC AIM-9M These are High off Bore-sight A-A missiles. Aim at your target let em go and they'll do the rest

UPDATES:
OPTIMIZED ARMOR FOR MP: This was a sad change but the overall physics bodies present were causing it to be extremely unstable in low phys environments. The armor still exists but overall subgrid count has been decreased: the armor is weaker but heli runs better. This is a limitation I cannot get around for people who have lower end pcs or play MP.

ADDED REPAIR SYSTEM: On the control panel there is a new switch labeled (repair rotor) It should be obvious what this does and fixes both top rotors and rear rotor. limit time spent repairing it drains battery faster than gens can keep up with but should provide about 90 seconds of repair time in one burst

Changed exhaust sytem to filter out particles (no more smoke)

Moved Emergency rescue handle (still working on rescue in unstable on/off power situations)

Added newly designed reinforced suspension for landing skids. These should increase hard landing survival rates

removed defunct hotkeys (mouse aim I desperately need help on and gunpod/wing pivot are too unstable in low phys/MP)

UP NEXT:

ENGINE OVERHAUL: It is near the limit of the current engine and will need a turbine. This is new to me and will take time

WEAPONS: With a successful powerplant overhaul it will be able to carry the newly designed Top attack triple eject rack ATGMs and Triple rack 20km AA missiles with newly designed heavy auto cannon but this loadout proves far too heavy for the current powerplant.
