About The Mod
Ever wondered why the 'Empire' Society was filled with Baron units? Well wonder no more! This is a simple mod that replaces all of the Empire's units with proper legionary Senator units across the map for more thematic games.

Please note this only applies when playing with Empire selected. Monarchy and Dawn of a New Empire are not affected by this mod in any way. It is suggested you just turn the mod off when not playing on Empire.

I made this mod in conjunction with the Senator Class mod (Latifundia, Limes, Legion), and I highly recommend using them both together.

Content

Imperial Theme
All of the Empire's Baron units are converted into various Senator units, which should generally translate into mostly Hastatus, Princeps and Slingers. Magistrates are appointed to govern settlements, additional commanders are added thematically to some locations like the Capitolium and its districts.

Imperial Legions
The Empire will occasionally raise a legion at a random city on the map with which to pacify Elysium. Eventually the Emperor himself will raise personal legions of more elite units. As time progresses the empire will spawn Legions more frequently - functionally the Empire becomes more of an active player on the map.

Imperial Cults
Each of the 3 major cults in the Senator's roster, the Solar Cult, the Serpent Cult and the Renatus Cult, claims a city as their own as its headquarters at the start of the game. They will periodically send out their own patrols similar to the ones the Empire naturally spawns at guard towers, and will attempt to spread their cult to smaller settlements across Elysium.

Additionally Lars will potentially spawn in farms the Empire controls.

Mod Compatibility
The mod should be compatible with pretty much any other mod that doesn't affect the Empire in any way.

If there is a compatibility issue it is probably related to conflicting numbers being used, if that is the case simply find the conflicting numbers and alter them in the c5m of this or the other mod. The following are the relevant numbers used in the mod:

Custom Terrains N/A
Terrain Groups N/A
Variables 8500 & 8501

Future Updates

The mod does pretty much everything I wanted it to but I may consider adding more thematic random events and maybe even event spawned barbarian invasions at some point.

I like that. I think I'll do the same.

No worries, it's understandable. Logically it would make more sense to have events happen on the final player's turn - I do it this way intentionally simply because I like the fluff/thematic-ness of having everything happen on El's turn.

Nevermind, I didn't know.

How is it broke when that has always been intended? I intentionally use celestial as the +player in almost all of my events.

Is it causing particular events to malfunction in some way I didn't notice?

Mod is broken now. Player 29 is Celestial now, not independents. You need to switch all references of Player 29 to Player 30.

Would love a version of this with the unit changes but without the spawning changes...

Quite a fun challenge, after being quite used to playing on Wilder. I’ve found it quite fun to use the Empire as a main threat to the Ashen Emperor class, it’s a very thematic feeling way to play.
AI does seem to struggle to survive, but that’s the case with normal wilder, too. With good play, Senator armies aren’t too terribly hard to deal with, though I’ve encountered a few painful stacks of 8 or more Renata+

That is actually a pretty cool idea Danwar, I might do something like that when I have some free time.

Could even have some undead legions pop up as a Hades faction on the map and other chaotic things.

It'd be neat if you implemented this for Fallen Empire starts too, with the legionaries representing the last vestiges of the Imperial command structure fighting for control of the scraps after the Capital fell even as new factions ride in their place.

Way to hard for any but the Necromancer
