GEV v1.0 MAIN

Description
Gott, Ehre, Vaterland

A Großdeutschland Conquest Mod for Call to Arms - Gates of Hell: Ostfront.

This mod incorporates many gameplay tweaks and some new units gathered over the years and implements them along with some nice QoL features. The mod focuses on implementing units to allow playing the German elite Großdeutschland division, but allows you to play a regular Wehrmacht or mixed force too.

There is more than one version of GEV:
• GEV MAIN: This mod. All GEV features enabled.
• GEV IC (integrated crews): For those who prefer the vanilla method of having crews permanently attached to the vehicles. All other GEV features are identical to MAIN.

Gott, Ehre, Vaterland (God, Honor, Fatherland) was the motto of the German Großdeutschland division during WW2.

GEV v1.0 is compatible with GoH v 1.053

READ THE README FILE. To understand all the campaign settings, you need to read the readme file.

ACHTUNG!!! GEV is meant to be played as GERMANY. If you try to change your faction with GEV enabled, THE GAME WILL CRASH.

You must own all DLC to play this mod.

Dedication: This mod is dedicated to the ideals of liberty, unity, and mutual respect for everyone, not just those who are like you. It can be tough to let go of past grudges, ignore loud voices, and forgive insults, but don't sweat your failures to improve yourself, and never stop trying. You can't change the world, but you can change you.

Special note: This mod depicts various units of World War 2, some of which are noted historically for the commission of war crimes and other atrocities. As a combat veteran myself, I believe it's important to be historically accurate in war games, but I also don't want to glorify or trivialize atrocities. I believe it's important to include these units in a historical context, but I want to make it clear that the atrocities and ideology they stood for was wrong. By including them in this mod, I'm simply acknowledging history without endorsing it. As human beings, if we venture to expunge our worst mistakes from history, allowing us to forget what happened puts us that much closer to allowing it to happen again. Instead, we should endeavor to be good stewards of history, so that we and future generations can learn from the mistakes and failures of our past, and our present.

Special Thanks/Credits:

A lot of this mod couldn't have been done (by me at least) without the help of Georider, Hawka, Horten, KapitanSwat, Mine Detector, Mr Cookie, Robz, Ty, zverofaust, Kirin Strong, and others on the GoH modding Discord. Each of these people are very helpful and hundreds of modders gain from them sharing their knowledge every day. Thank you!

• Special thanks to Georider for his many vehicle and soldier skins made for GEV. He's a kind and generous guy and a fellow veteran. He spent untold hours working on custom skins for this mod out of generosity and friendship. Thank you Geo! He also made the x-mas card I posted on x-mas eve!

• Special thanks to Horten, who let me watch him create the Stug3e for this mod. It was amazing!

• Special thanks to Kirin Strong and 1Lt. Muhammad for allowing me to use their "Change Paint Scheme" mod in GEV.

• Special thanks to Red Snow for allowing me to use his Improved Minefield Signs mod in GEV

• Special thanks to Alberto Garcia for the work on new/changed maps.

• Special thanks to [WHUB]Anatoly Dyatlov for his help and allowing me to use his M39 grenades.

Notes from the mod developer:
-----------------------------------
• READ THE README FILE. To understand all the campaign settings, you need to read the readme file.

• Most vehicles come with NO CREW! This is so you can buy a crew separately, and keep the same crew while upgrading the vehicle over time. If you'd rather keep the vanilla method of crews being permanently attached to vehicles, then subscribe to my other mod: GEV IC (Integral Crews). https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3352269304

• For infantry type units, you must research the Wehrmacht unit in order to unlock the GD version of the unit. Generally the GD version is free once the base Wehrmacht unit has been unlocked, with a few exceptions.

• When starting a new campaign, you can set the number of flags that will show up in battles. 1 flag, 1-2 flags, 3 flags or 1-3 flags. Unlimited length campaign games always have 1 flag.

If both players have the same version and no other mods enabled, it should work in coop.

Is it working for Coop Conquest?

I actually have no idea how that happened LOL! I just fixed it, thanks for the report! Uploading a fix right now.

Noticed that the Pz.Kpfw IV Ausf. J icon on the research table may be overlapping with the FlakPz. IV Wirbelwind icon, not sure if anyone else is experiencing that.

Today's update: 6 more single-player maps converted to Conquest! There's 5 more still in the works too, which will bring the total number of possible maps up to around 130. Theoretically, that's enough for every map_point on the campaign map to have it's own dedicated map. I've figured out how to make that happen now too, so that's another perk to look forward to, when I can get around to it.

Check that you don't have any other mods enabled. GEV isn't compatible with most other mods because it changes a lot of things.

My game keep crashing when I just click on some uits in the lobby...

I still like to role play and keep my army as big as possible. It might not be optimal but it is definetly more fun and more realistic! I do not think the OKH was really trying to keep their army as cost effective and small as possible, so neither do I.

Here's another thing you can try that I think is fun. Conduct an "extended operation" where you decide to fight X number of battles without resupplying in between. See how many battles you can fight before the ammo and fuel situation becomes critical.

Imo the biggest problem with the conquest mode is that enemy strength is relative to your own army strength. At least in theory the optimal way to play is to always have as small and cost effective army as you can get away with. Larger army consumes way more ammo and manpower than a small one, and there really are no benefits in having larger army. The rewards are fixed, and controlling larger army is harder than smaller one. I do not think this problem can be addressed with modding, because it is the basic flaw of the game logic. But yeah, no game is perfect.
