GEV v1.0 IC (Integrated Crews)

Description
Gott, Ehre, Vatterland

A Großdeutschland Conquest Mod for Call to Arms - Gates of Hell: Ostfront.

This mod incorporates many gameplay tweaks and some new units gathered over the years and implements them along with some nice QoL features. The mod focuses on playing a unit of the German elite Großdeutschland division, but allows recruiting of Wehrmacht and other units as well to act as allied units that are part of your task force.

There is more than one version of GEV:
• GEV MAIN: All GEV features enabled.
• GEV IC (integrated crews): This Mod. For those who prefer the vanilla method of having crews permanently attached to the vehicles. All other GEV features are identical to MAIN.

Gott, Ehre, Vatterland (God, Honor, Fatherland) was the motto of the German Großdeutschland division during WW2.

GEV v1.0 is compatible with GoH v 1.053

READ THE README FILE. To understand all the campaign settings, you need to read the readme file.

ACHTUNG!!! GEV is meant to be played as GERMANY. If you try to change your faction with GEV enabled, THE GAME WILL CRASH.

You must own all DLC to play this mod.

Dedication: This mod is dedicated to the ideals of liberty, unity, and mutual respect for everyone, not just those who are like you. It can be tough to let go of past grudges, ignore loud voices, and forgive insults, but don't sweat your failures to improve yourself, and never stop trying. You can't change the world, but you can change you.

Special note: This mod depicts various units of World War 2, some of which are noted historically for the commission of war crimes and other atrocities. As a combat veteran myself, I believe it's important to be historically accurate in war games, but I also don't want to glorify or trivialize atrocities. I believe it's important to include these units in a historical context, but I want to make it clear that the atrocities and ideology they stood for was wrong. By including them in this mod, I'm simply acknowledging history without endorsing it. As human beings, if we venture to expunge our worst mistakes from history, allowing us to forget what happened puts us that much closer to allowing it to happen again. Instead, we should endeavor to be good stewards of history, so that we and future generations can learn from the mistakes and failures of our past, and our present.

Special Thanks/Credits:

A lot of this mod couldn't have been done (by me at least) without the help of Georider, Hawka, Horten, KapitanSwat, Mine Detector, Mr Cookie, Robz, Ty, zverofaust, Kirin Strong, and others on the GoH modding Discord. Each of these people are very helpful and hundreds of modders gain from them sharing their knowledge every day. Thank you!

• Special thanks to Georider for his many vehicle and soldier skins made for GEV. He's a kind and generous guy and a fellow veteran. He also made the x-mas card I posted on x-mas eve!

• Special thanks to Horten, who let me watch him create the Stug3e for this mod. It was amazing!

• Special thanks to Kirin Strong and 1Lt. Muhammad for allowing me to use their "Change Paint Scheme" mod in GEV.

• Special thanks to Alberto Garcia for the work on new/changed maps.

Notes from the mod developer:
-----------------------------------
• READ THE README FILE. To understand all the campaign settings, you need to read the readme file.

• For infantry type units, you must research the Wehrmacht unit in order to unlock the GD version of the unit. Generally the GD version is free once the base Wehrmacht unit has been unlocked, with a few exceptions.

• When starting a new campaign, you can set the number of flags that will show up in battles. 1 flag, 1-2 flags, 3 flags or 1-3 flags. Unlimited length campaign games always have 1 flag.

Check the release notes in the MAIN mod for IC release notes.

@mikasut - in the scale of the battles depicted in GoH, fuel is usually not a factor. If you want to play your late war battles like it is, the accurate thing to do is just not take any vehicles. Tanks without fuel can't move, so they can't get to a place and get into position to fight - so they would be abandoned. Tanks with fuel, by contrast, would be pretty much like normal GoH vehicles - they'd generally have enough for one fight. If they didn't they wouldn't even be on the battlefield.

Publishing an update today to bring GEV IC up to 1.053 and include the latest updates from MAIN.

Will this one be updated too?

I do not know if it is possible to do by modding, but do you think fuel should be a separate resource like manpower, ammunition or science points? Lack of fuel was a huge problem for germans in the later stages of war. Thank you for making this mod! I think this is the way to play especially the eastern front.

The eastern front feels about right. Easy missions at first, as the war progresses the resources become more scarce. And it is also compatible with bm mod! The western front would be interesting to combine with valour mod. In the first part of the campaign you would fight just british and french units (like in the battle of france in 1940) and later against americans as well. Maybe in the future when the next DLC comes out!

It's a great mod. I've been playing the other version. I'll go and give this one a go now and see what happens.

Ok I think I found the problem. Even that tiny bit of info you posted about the error helped isolate the cause. I'm uploading a change now that should fix it.

As always, thank you for your patience and for reporting these errors.
Firelock  [author] 2 Jul @ 5:44pm
Hmm, if you could copy/paste the text of the error here that would help. As I mentioned in the other mod, I literally copy/paste the main mod into this one, then put the crews back, so on the back-end they are 99.999% identical.
