Description
Citizens now will age only one year older in a game year.
The ages of certain activities are the same. For example, children will still start going to school at 8 years old.

By default, citizens will age four years older every game year. I don’t know if the developers designed this feature based on gaming experience, but I would like my citizens to age as they are supposed to.

I didn’t fully test the impact of the experience but so far, basically, it’s cool.

Below are some impacts I can see. Please leave more you find in the discussion.
  • When the population is greater than fifty, for most occupations, citizens will die accidentally with small probabilities. This will trigger once a year. With this mod, because citizens age slower, you might lose too many adults by accidents before enough children grow up to join the workforce. So, I also built another mod Fewer Accidental Deaths to balance the experience, with which the check of accidental death will only be triggered once every four years. You can choose to subscribe to it or not.

  • Each student must attend school three hundred times before he/she can graduate. With this mod, students will have more time before they become adults, so they might graduate earlier than usual ages, which is fine but you can also subscribe to this mod Longer Study Time to keep the difficulty. It’s up to you.

If you have other mods which also modify these files, it’s very likely that they will conflict. I wish I could only upload the fields I want to modify rather than the whole file, but that’s not supported by the game. In that case, you have to combine the modified fields together into one file manually.

Somehow, after applying this mod, every time I take in immigrants, all the kids become orphans and homeless. lol

@Petrothian In the late game, there will always be a limit of the population due to the pressure, even if you use all the methods to improve the happiness, health, housing, diet, etc.

If you would like to modify the population pressure, I believe it is <PressureCitizenParamsList> in zipConfig/CitizenFunction.xml. There are three parameters: A = 700, B = -280, C = 4600, and the calculation is, Population Pressure = parameter A * (current population number + parameter B) / (current population number + parameter C)

(curious, any way to increase birthrates? I keep getting 0% fertility due to population in the 1500s/too many people).
