-= Drill=HERE! =-

Description
POINT, CLICK, DRILL!
Drill=>HERE! provides you with GPS points DIRECTLY OVER the Ore!
    Great for
  • GPS guided miners (SAM+PAM, etc.)
  • Auto-deploy bases (AI or not!)
  • Nanobot mining
Deep ore mining? NO PROBLEM!
When you need to know WHERE to drill...
Drill=>HERE! provides you with THREE critical GPS points:
  • GPS Position of the ORE
  • GPS SURFACE position just above the ORE (i.e., put your drill rig here - you WILL hit the ore you want!)
  • GPS DRILL POINT where you can send a flying miner and drill STRAIGHT DOWN for a 100% Guaranteed 'payday'!
  • GPS ORBIT POINT (optional) gives you "edge of space" point to park your drop/mother ship directly above the ore!

Need to AUTO DEPLOY A BASE?

Drill=>HERE! provides you with the GPS points to drop - right on top of the ore you need the most!

If you can see the Ore on your HUD, you can use Drill=>HERE! and get GPS points to have your miner going into the ore INSTANTLY!
EVEN FROM 40,000 m above the planet!
(you must be in a gravity well of a planet for this to work - sorry.... no 'space' or 'asteroids' allowed.... - talk to Keen!)

Wh.... what!?

Know this - if you can see the GPS on the HUD, you can get GPS points to deploy your drills DIRECTLY OVER THE ORE!

YES, that means you can drop an explorer pod with an Ore Detector, use this script from your 'near orbit' ship, point/click and get the GPS right over the Ore on the planet - WITHOUT EVER GOING TO THE PLANET (unless you want to! :) .....

Then, send a SAM/PAM drill, auto-deploying base..... - whatever..... and START DRILLING your Ore!
(yes, it is that cool....)

Sounds awesome. You're dragging me in... 😆

That's the point - as well as this one...

YOU WILL GET MORE ORE, FASTER, BY USING THIS SCRIPT!

While Drill=>HERE! is more accurate at closer levels, setting points from 'edge' of gravity still will give you 'horseshoes/hand grenades' close - and CLOSER THAN YOU HAVE EVER BEEN TO 100% ALIGNMENT.

NO OTHER SCRIPT ON THE WORKSHOP GETS BETTER RESULTS!

Any reason this wouldn't work on a hosted MP server?
should work fine on any setup - as long as scripts are allowed in the world

HOW IT WORKS
  1. Create any 'explorer' ship you like with these minimums:
    a. Cockpit (this can likely be used with drone/Cameras {UNTESTED/UNSUPPORTED/FUTURE?}, but it is much simpler to use a Cockpit)
    b. Remote Control (even though you will be flying this ship to do your scans, the RC IS required to access the 'internal' software!)
    c. LCD (it can be a 'corner' or something small {cockpit screens are a possible future feature})
    d. "stop anywhere at any angle" thrusters (enough for the planet/conditions you want to work in)
    e. a Programmable Block (PB) to run the Drill=>HERE! (this one...) script

  2. Depending on your setup, you may need/want a 'probe' or base, etc. to show the Ore positions (large grid Ore Detector highly recommended) - deployed to the planet (you must see the Ores on the HUD)

  3. Use your 'explorer' and point the crosshairs toward the Ore of your choice (see pic "coming soon") and make note of the distance the HUD shows you.

  4. Go into the Control panel, select the PB of Drill=>HERE! and scroll down to the 'Argument' area where you will enter a command with the format:
    DRILL ORENAME DISTANCE
    Where
"ORENAME" is the name you want to see on your HUD (can be anything, but NO SPACES)
"DISTANCE" is the distance shown from the HUD (must be in METERS!!!)
NOTE You may also optionally enter a 4th part with the distance to 'edge of space' and get an ORBIT HERE point on your GPS. To determine this height, go to the edge of your planet's gravity well and note the altitude. (PRO TIP: If you want to park your mothership in space, just add a few meters! Then use your explorer ship just inside the gravity well to mark more ore!)

  5. Click 'Run'

  6. Open up the Drill=>HERE! LCD and select 'Edit Text'. You will see the GPS points for ORE, EST. SURFACE and DRILL which will automatically be copied to your GPS tab.

  7. Go to the GPS tab and scroll to the bottom of the list (probably already selected/close) and select the GPS point(s) you want to display then click the 'Show on HUD' button.

Use the points you just added to deploy your miners!

DIDN'T YOU SAY SOMETHING ABOUT NANOBOTS?
YUP! If you use the Nanobot Fill n Drill mod, use my Nanobot GPS Drilling script along with Drill=>HERE! and you will be gathering ore faster than a speeding 'nano' (or is that 'bot' :)

SUPER EASY TO USE
Basically you fly around in your 'explorer' ship (like you do anyway when you are looking for Ore...), find the Ore you want to drill, tag it with what you see on the HUD using this Drill=>HERE! script and the script will do some 'magic' to make more GPS points that are on the surface and the (configurable by you) point DIRECTLY ABOVE THE ORE where you just send your drill!

and, yes, it works really well (beams with pride emoticon!)

DRILL HERE certainly requires gravity (as said before and description states.... "you must be in a gravity well of a planet for this to work - sorry.... no 'space' or 'asteroids' allowed.... - talk to Keen!")

You _could_ trick (or HACK if you prefer) to get asteroid GPS by
1. place a ship close enough to the asteroid to detect the ore
2. Use Antenna relay system in SE to see the ore from the planet
3. Use DRILL HERE to point to that ore (the GPS will likely be pretty far off, and of course the other data from the script will be garbage, but it would 'work' - somewhat...)

If you really just want to 'CHEAT' and get the ore coordinates then I recommend https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2790047923

So this script is only usable on a planet then?
DarkSideRC 14 Mar @ 10:33pm
@TecCoder, my first need is to use "Nanobot GPS Drilling Script" on asteroids. To do this I need Ore GPS position, and "Drill There" is perfect for that....
TechCoder  [author] 13 Mar @ 4:57am
Asteroids have no gravity and therefore don't produce data that can be used via the API (talk to Keen....) to do all the calculations (and make the script be what it is advertised to be - giving the user an exact location to drill from, etc....)

It sounds like you 'edited' my script to make it a fancy Ore Detector - which would have been much simpler (and I would have been happy to direct you) to use the original Ore Detection script.) So, NO, I will not 'break' my script to do something that is already out there!

Hi @TechCoder . I try your mod. Very usefull. But i want to use it on asteroid and just have a warning message saying i'm not on a planet. Can you adapt your script to just compute the Ore coords in this case ? (I edited your script to solve this for my own purpose).

Working great now, will be very useful for getting drones on target to mine deep ore deposits.
TechCoder  [author] 10 Aug, 2024 @ 9:06am
Again, this script has "nothing" to do with ore mods (which, believe me, I have tried, used and gotten very frustrated with Keen about not being able to use them through the API!!!)

If you can "see" the ore on the HUD (typically the yellow marking from any sort of Ore Detector), then you can point at it with your ship, use this script and get your Drill=>HERE! markings (even if the ore mod gives you something 800,000 km away.... - probably not very perfectly accurate at that range - and wouldn't work at all because you aren't on that planet, etc...., but certainly the script doesn't care) - the point being that Ore Detectors have nothing to do with the script, directly....

Will Give it a try. Thanks.

Oh, and I know you said Modded Ore Detectors should not be a problem, but I forgot to mention that I am using the Ore Detector++ Mod and have the small detector set to max range, 600 meters. I use the Deeper Ores mod in my game. Not sure if any of that ends up being relevant.

Another user on Discord (which I MUCH prefer to use and is MUCH simpler for you to include screenshots I think...) and I found another issue on the ORBIT function.

Just uploaded vTC1.1.2 and that user verified it works for them, so please grab the new version and let me know.
