Another TF2 Physics Override

Description
This addon overrides the default TF2 physics models with additional colliders, while preserving the default joint constraints. This allows you to still throw around the TF2 characters as you would expect in the game, but still provide options to pose the character to or beyond form.

Speaking of posing, I recommend using the Ragdoll Mover tool to bypass the physics constraints from manual Physics Gun posing. The tool is highly intuitive, and it allows you to pose ragdolls beyond their joint limits.

Notes
This addon is incompatible with other TF2 physics overrides. If you do not see any of the features mentioned below, try the following:
  • Try removing the conflicting addon (e.g. TF2 Better Phys V2)
  • Check your GMod file system to see if a file might be overriding the physics (for example, look for models/player/scout.phy, and see if you have the other mercenaries physics files)
If the two above still doesn't work, try moving this addon to the bottom of your load order (in other words, this addon should have a larger number than some addons that replace default TF2 physics).

Goals / Addon Features
  • Every spine bone (bip_spine_0 to bip_spine_3) has a physical collider,
  • Collar bones and the neck bone have physical colliders,
  • This addon preserves, if not approximates, the TF2 default physics aesthetic, with stable* joint constraints
*AFAIK the default TF2 physics also has some instability. The new spine and collar colliders may add some instability.

Anti-Goals / What this doesn't do
  • Make hexes of the TF2 characters with these additional colliders: some TF2 addons like the TF2 SFM Models addon may miss out on the benefits of this addon.
  • Make the TF2 characters floppy: other TF2 physics overrides increase the range and degrees of freedom for TF2 characters; this addon aims to maintain the default TF2 physics aesthetic

There is some gray area, such as if adding physics colliders to the toe bones or prp_bones violates the TF2 default physics aesthetic or not. I am open to adding these features to this addon on later updates, as they are not too hard to implement. For now, use Ragdoll Mover to move/rotate these bones around.

Feel free to use this addon in your artwork or videos without attribution, although I highly appreciate it if you do.

I've been using it since you posted this add-on, and it worked. Then suddenly now started not working for me please fix it

why doesn't this work with tf2 advanced facial flexes models? can you do one for them?

It's hard to say if it works or not because it uses default physics. Do you see any of the additional spine bones and collar bones for selection using ragdoll mover? Make sure this addon is at the bottom of your load order

After some consideration, I'll make another addon to override the physics for hexed TF2 character models. That should give some flexibility for you to choose if you want physics for those hexed models, as well as to avoid the overhead of increased file size for TF2 character models that you may not be working with

I'll add a forum on here soon for you guys to suggest some models. Once I make the addon, I'll move the forum over to that addon

This addon is compatible with the (non-hwm) TF2 SFM models, probably from SarisKhan, but I think you mean his hexed HWM models, which this addon does not implement.

Similar case for eltorro's models, I'll consider adding compatibility for other (hexed) TF2 character models, either by making another addon or by putting them in this addon

I would also like to emphasize that this would be great to be compatible with the advanced models of eltorrorus64 faceflexes. I would also like to emphasize that this would be great to be compatible with the advanced models of eltorrorus64 faceflexes. Maybe you could tell him so he can help to implement it ? I don't know, it's just a suggestion, as I see your addon with a lot of potential, there are many physics changers in the workshop, but yours is the most updated, the others were forgotten over time and not updated.

a pity that this does not have compatibility with the sfm models, plus those sfm models slightly improve the textures of the mercenaries and also that the blue scout pants are back as they should be.
