The Armed Forces of the Falcon Federal Republic (AFFR), which have been birthed from the fires of resistance and liberation, play an important role as a source of freedom in the complicated geopolitics seen present within the Ravenfield Universe. The history of the AFFR has been closely associated with the fight against imperialism, specifically that of Hawk Empire and its alliance with Eagle Federation in the Global Security Alliance (GSA). This alliance is not merely synonymous with one of convenience but rather stands for the ideals of freedom and independence and is therefore opposed to the colonial tendencies of the Hawks.

The rise of the AFFR and the Halcyon Crisis
The road Towards freedom for Falcon was paved with blood and torture, as the centuries spent under the colonial claws of the Hawk Empire can be described. The empire held an ideology that aimed for the entire world, and sought to colonize the peoples of Falcon, taking away their land, culture as well as independence. Centuries were wasted as the native people of Falcon underwent an empire based exploitation, oppression and abuse.

What was the final straw came when the Hawk Empire started to impose more tax and brutal labor camps across Falcon in the name of “civilization” and “progress” expansion. However, this was the last gasp of colonialism to the Falcons. Thus began preparations and the Falcon Republican Army (FRA) was formed to fight against the Hawks in the underground. But as they lacked modern firearm technologies, more often than not, the hawk armies overpowered their resolve.

The Secret Alliance with the Eagle Federation
Unable to fight back and facing certain defeat, the leadership of the Falcon turned to the Eagle Federation, which had its own interests in the region and wanted to present itself to the world as an advocate of harmony and democracy. However, the Eagles had their own agenda – to curb the Hawk Empire and extend their own power across the region. They connived to assist the Falcon s insurgents with modern high-tech weapons and military experts. Over the next few years, the Eagle Federation spent money on Falcon, transforming the small Falcon Republican Army into a powerful insurgent group.

When the Halcyon Crisis erupted, the struggle of the Falcon freedom fighters was already prepared. The hostilities that, in the first instance, were waged over borders, turned out to be a feud between the Eagle Federation and the Hawk Empire. The Falcon Federal Republic proclaimed independence, which resulted in a conflict that would last for many years, with the Halcyon territory at the center of it.

The Halcyon Crisis and Global Involvement
The Halcyon Crisis evolved into an all-out conflict, not only involving Falcon and the Hawk Empire but also major world powers. IPC, under the influence of the Global Security Alliance, after a period tried to intervene - in this instance unsuccessfully - imposing again the desire of both sides to reach a compromise. With time though, it became clearer that the only solution in the case of conflict was a military one.

The AFFR fully moved into a defensive Falcon territory and in the process, carried out numerous deadly operations within the territory of Halcyon-DMZ. Since the Falcon forces were few in numbers, they were high on extremism, coupled with patriotism and a desire to be free, making them very volatile and dangerous. With help from the Eagle Federation, they started making successful counter-offensives against the Hawks as the latter’s forces were engaged in other battles on other fronts.

The function of the Global Security Alliance (GSA)
After the Halcyon Crisis, the Falcon Federal Republic became a member of the Global Security Alliance (GSA), which is an organization of states with similar objectives which profess to protect themselves and the world. It was easy for the GSA to accept the AFFR as it was formed for the purposes of averting the territorial advances of the Hawk Empire and offered advanced weapons technology, military intel and a range of treaties for armed assistance.

As strong as the AFFR had become, the continuing planet’s power structure, grounded in the GSA and the Eagle Federation, had its own troubles. The Eagle Federation, its own empire-in-the-making provocatively began demanding more support from Falcon in its fight against terrorism. The geopolitical paradigm sought by international organizations led to the deployment of the AFFR to different areas of conflicts around the globe, leading to controversy within Falcon on the issue of interventionism in international affairs.

Tensions Amongst Falcon and Eagle
As the structure of the Armed Forces of the Falcon Federal Republic (AFFR) expanded, conflict began to grow between Falcon and Eagle Federation. Although the Eagle Federation was a critical player in the release of Falcon, the crux of the issue is that when it comes to the leadership of Eagle Federation, they perceive Falcon only as a younger element who can be submissive and do what is required of him in the geopolitical directives of Eagle. This relationship was particularly stressed in the period of the War on Terror where more often than not drunken soldiers dressed in Falcon's uniform were sent to the aid of the Eagles' operations which had nothing to do with Falcon as a country.

Though, The Falcon Federal Republic was resolute not to be treated like a third-world satellite. The leadership of the AFFR confronted eagle insistence stating that the military of their country would be engaged in actions only for the purposes of physically protecting the borders of Falconian country and for defending the principles of self-determination. This approach caused some internal discord within the Global Security Alliance because some of its members, who sympathized more with the Eagle Federation, began to doubt Falcon’s loyalty towards the alliance.

The Return of Hawk Empire and the Risk of the New War
The Hawk Empire was not at peace with the new freedom gained by Falcon, even though the Halcyon Crisis was resolved under a wobbly peace treaty. It was in part due to an unquenchable thirst, capitalism and some backdoor deals with GSA’s enemies. The Truth About the Eagle Federation

AFFR leadership even though they were still in formal alliance with the Eagle Federation, started to alienate from the harsher policy, directed towards members of the Federation, especially towards countries of the Southern front; focusing on enhancing the military and political independence of Falcon.
