Description
UNBURY THE BONES
It is said that a frozen crypt lies somewhere far to the north, and that inside it are the secrets to immortality. Seek out this glacial tomb and brave its depths. Solve a riddle inscribed on a massive stone hand, and the power of two new classes will be yours.

The Medium is a spiritual mage, able to call upon otherworldly power to heal their allies, exorcise persistent afflictions, or curse their foes. The Anchorite is a deathly monk, utterly devoted to the sainted dead. They inflict debilitating effects with their fists.

The combat in Unbury The Bones features some scaling to the level of your party based on combat fame. All the same, a well prepared party near the mid to late game is advisable for unlocking the classes. The deepest secrets of the tomb are intended for end game parties.

Features:
  • Two New Classes
  • New Adventure Zone on the small archipelago between Mio’s Secret Shop and Frostbite Cave at 138N 155E
  • New Puzzles
  • New Armor
  • New Status Effect: Frail, take +25% increased physical damage
  • New Status Effect: Malaise, take +25% increased magic damage
  • New Status Effect: Exorcism, cure ailments on you each round
  • New Secret Boss
  • New Augments

Medium: calls upon spirits to curse and kill... or cure and heal
  • Exorcism: Cure ailments on a target each round.
  • Spirit Candles: Summon spirit candles that heal and protect allies or burn foes.
  • Frailty: Inflict Frail in an area, increasing physical damage taken.
  • Malaise: Inflict Malaise in an area, increasing magic damage taken.
  • Death Lance: Deal Ruin damage in a line, with a chance to instantly kill targets that increases for each different ailment on them.
  • Seance: Gain MP for each nearby spirit candle.
  • Atrophy: Add Itchy to Frailty, Malaise, and your melee attacks.
  • Shallow Graves: When slain, revive nearby allies.
  • Soul Balance: All Medium abilities (except Spirit Candles) give you a boost to Life and Ruin magic when cast.

Anchorite: morbid minister of deathly relics - excels at debilitating unarmed strikes
  • Exploding Palm: Inflict Bomb and push a target with a fist attack.
  • Last Rites: A delayed fist attack that inflicts Frail and Malaise.
  • Reliquary: Deal Ruin damage in a wide area around you and inflict Itchy. Also summons bones and gives you Ruin Enchant.
  • Vault: Leap over an adjacent unit. Doesn’t cost an action, but has no effect if the space behind the unit is occupied.
  • Memento Mori: Gain Preserve and Life Enchant. If your HP is critical, you also gain a morale boost.
  • Impeding Touch: Fist attacks reduce the victim’s movement speed, along with inflicting glowing if you have Life Enchant and suffering if you have Ruin Enchant.
  • Tempered Body: +15% physical damage resistance. Immunity to Frail.
  • Tempered Soul: +15% magic damage resistance. Immunity to Malaise.

I recommend pairing this mod with More Status Effects Please to increase the relevance of some of the Anchorite passives. That said, this mod is like all of my other mods in that it has no dependencies and can be seamlessly integrated into an existing save.

If you're having trouble solving the puzzle, check the hints beyond. The mod title itself is a hint. As is the amount of digits on the stone hand. You're looking for five gleaming bones, which are all buried. Unbury them and place them on the hand. Use Ruin magic.

cleared the dungeon, except for the optional boss. WOW what a fight! I'll come back later.

GREAT stuff, having a blast so far with Anchorite especially! I LOVE fist classes :D

Took me forever to finish the puzzle, because it turns out a Spide had died on top of the spot. If not for your hint in the comments about ligh beams marking the spots, I would never have found it . Then I ended up accidentaly cheesing the boss - the Krakenslayer's Impale reduces its movement to 0, so it resorts to spamming Saint Strike... which I could just cancel over and over with stuns and dispels . Still, fun stuff and cool classes.

Use the books you receive. That should unlock the classes.

Oh. I assumed the trainer for medium and Anchorite were beyond the haunted staircase. I completed the Stone hand puzzle with the 5 glowing bones and ruin spell which opened the doorway to the staircase, Was I supposed to receive training elsewhere?

Thank you, hotsh!t! The hint for it is to examine it and check its journal entry. You'll need a specific spell that the Medium can cast to bypass it.

I think your mods are a fantastic addition to the game and I enjoy the puzzles.
One has me stumped though.
How does one get past the haunted staircase? Am I missing something obvious because this one feels like it has no hints associated with it.

Thanks for the report, Square. I’ll fix this soon.

Minor bug - [JournalEntry] for Gleaming Bonemeld Armor in ub items.txt uses ID=item_armor_bonemeld instead of ID=ub_gleaming_bone_armor so it overrides the entry for vanilla Bonemeld.

Lawrel, here's a small guide. In general, look around for secret passages. You're probably missing a few. For more details... First head down from the hand room and go to the right past two secret passages to find the spine . Next, keep going right through another secret passage and then head up to find the skull or down and to the right through another secret passage to find the ribcage . The horizontal bones are in the bottom left of the map by some spiders . The vertical bones are to the right of the spider fight, through a secret passage . All of the bones are buried under a small debris mound type object, with a lightbeam pointing down at them from on high .

Can anyone post an expalation to finding these items? I'm stuck on 3 and can't find the rest.
