Ave, fellow Total War enthusiasts!

Welcome to Bella Italica! The first "optional faction pack" for New World. Bella Italica alters the start positions in Italy to break up the Roman Republic and add in three formerly emergent-only factions now made playable, in its former territories in Italia/Magna Graecia right at the start; The Bruttians, the Samnites, and the fictional Italian League - a twist on the Roman Republic with late-imperial influences and inspirations!

While the Samnites were added into custom battles and the HatG campaign with their own custom roster long ago, both the Bruttians and the Italian League sport entirely new rosters and can be played in battles even without this submod. However, they will only be emergent factions, and this is where this submod comes into play: Simply place this mod above the main New World mod in the launch order and you'll be good to go! Rome's holdings will be divided upon the start of the campaign and you'll be able to pick between the three new factions on the faction select screen.

Incompatible with the official TPY submods, unfortunately. Will only run on 4 TPY.

Best TW Experience in 22 years! Thanks a lot! Never played such an interesting campaign.

As the Italian League (best color!) I want to try to play as a strong ally for Rome and intrude upon their battles with my high tech cavalry and infantry. I don't even need to recruit ranged units as most cooler infantry has javelins! I'm thinking a solid centre-line of legionary spears, two sword legions at the sides or rear for maneuvers and assaults. 4 heavy cavalry, but instead of very-meh archers or those stick throwers I never liked, my ranged corps will be siege engines! What! Isn't that perfect? They have greater range and can force enemies to move on you, your cavalry can screen well enough if they have too many missile troops, and it's very late-roman to have a lot of war machines!
I also want to play the maritime pain in the neck. A few good ships can screen the entire peninsula from all those silly, expensive armies on dollar store transport ships. About that, I saw the harpax ships available in custom battles, but can I not recruit them in the campaign?

Awesome! A very interesting starting position for all 3 factions, Leauge, Bruttians and Samnites all city states in one province, vassals of Rome (I think). Kinda on the same side? It's a harsh, limiting situation and that makes it intriguing. It seems obligatory to eat the other two, but what a waste! Where is the fun in that? Making it work with my capital being a timeshare seaside bungalow is certainly a better, new challenge.

Huge, huge fan and admirer! Thank you!
