WARNING: AUTO-SAVE DOES NOT WORK! SAVE FREQUENTLY!

Ave, fellow Total War enthusiasts!
After years of continuous work, I, Genesis, present to you the biggest Rome 2 modding project I have ever attempted: Total War: NEW WORLD

What is Total War: NEW WORLD?

Total War: NEW WORLD originally premiered in early 2019 as Total War: AMAZONIA. It was mostly a faction pack which added in the Amazonian culture. However, it has grown and expanded to encompass many other cultures. It is a massive overhaul mod for Rome 2, along the lines of DEI and Radious. Instead of being focused on historical events, it takes place in an alternate reality of the ancient world. With various new cultures, factions, effects, buildings, units, technologies, UI visuals, and major overhauls to the campaign and battle AI, this’ll be a new experience for even the most hardcore Total War players!

"You are basically taking ancient legends and turning them into something historically plausible." - Pharaoh

What’s new in Total War: NEW WORLD?

Total War: NEW WORLD has countless changes and additions, with much work currently being worked on, but let's outline the more important stuff:
  • A planned overhaul for every campaign to something new which throws the player into an alternate history of our world. With the Grand Campaign, and Hannibal at the Gates overhauls currently included with the mod.
  • New cultures and factions have been added to the Grand Campaign with some who will be making an appearance in other campaigns, sometimes exclusively. Each with their own custom technologies, unit rosters, buildings, and gameplay styles.
  • An immersive revamp of the religions/cultures on the map, with a considerable influence to the way you manage public order and conduct diplomacy.
  • A whole host of emergent factions that will spring to life as the campaign goes on.
  • Fixed and improved character ancillaries for deeper character development
  • Many new units for all factions, including vanilla ones. More on the way as well!
  • New HUD/Interface.
  • New buildings such as wine orchards, guard posts, tax collection offices, apothecaries, and much more.
  • Custom AOR system that works using the mercenary menu. Still in experimental phase, only Europe has a few units for now.
  • Better emphasis on the roleplay and gameplay aspect of politics. (WIP)
  • Improved and custom tuned campaign AI.
  • Overhauled naval combat with reduced ramming damage. This should emphasize ship-boarding and prolonged ship-to-ship fighting.
  • Modified combat and battle mechanics, with an emphasis on battle formations such as the Hoplite Phalanx and shield wall.
  • Revamped resource system, with multiple new resources added into the game with buildings producing resources that are necessary to construct other buildings. Adds more depth and reason to trade.
  • All units, generals, and officers for ALL factions have received a very detailed reskin with new clothing and shield models/patterns.
  • A few previously unplayable factions are now playable with their own faction traits.
  • Generals will act as governors when in provinces (similar to Attila), and their Authority, Cunning & Zeal will have effects on public order, among other things.
  • Much, much more!

Campaigns:

Each campaign will/has been overhauled and re-imagined in some way.

Grand Campaign: Where the large chunk of the content is. A whole new world for you to explore and conquer with a dozen+ new and unique factions as well as 8+ emergent factions, running at 4 turns per year and using the improved IA/ED campaign map.

Hannibal at the Gates: A re-imagining of the original, but with more factions and even more to be added later.

The other campaigns are yet to be released or announced but stay tuned!

What’s planned, being worked on, and on the way?
  • New cultures/factions.
  • Completely overhauled and redesigned skill trees, army traditions, and technologies.
  • New campaigns offering a feature-rich, unique, and creative Total War experience.
  • A lot of new buildings, and by a lot I mean A LOT. No two settlements will be the same, building-wise. Expect cult buildings, guard posts and military bases, training centers, places of learning, different kinds of shops to compliment the new resource system. Some special stuff include resource-extraction and refinement buildings such as woodcutter's camps, bakeries, breweries, and many more!
  • Many, many, many new units added to all factions.
  • Much more in-depth system for cultures, religion, and political influence.
  • I would be here forever if I kept listing everything I'm working on :D

Would like to point out that the Rome 2 HD set of mods work flawlessly alongside New World. Just drag them ABOVE New World in the launcher and you're good to go! The only obvious issue is that "Hellenic-ish" cultures such as Atlantis, Troy, Lydia, etc... will be using the standard New World Greek models and not the HD ones.

SPECIAL THANKS TO:
  • Pizza Time for his Rome II Community Patch, which initially acted as a base for this mod.
  • Magnar for his outstanding modding tutorials.
  • Sebidee for his custom unit modding tutorial, which was the first thing I attempted to do, and both him and fishfoode for many of their custom unit cards.
  • Unique Trait Icons by Boicote, which have been modified for this mod.
  • The DEI team for some icons and scripting commands.
  • Thunderbolt II for some epic shield patterns and designs.
  • [*VGS*] Italian Player -NIS- for his New Culture Styles User Interface mod, which has been modified for this mod.
  • Kaziel for his really cool Roman assets and armor.
  • Adlious for some Egyptian models.
  • Attila Themed Map by Idreaus
  • True Bronze retextures by Treccboi.
  • Clean Textures mod by Kagarino Kirie.
  • My family members and friends who inspire me everyday and give me the endurance and strength to take on such a project ❤️

IF ANY OF THE CREATORS LISTED ABOVE WOULD LIKE THEIR WORK REMOVED FROM THIS MOD, AT ANY TIME, CONTACT ME. <3

Hey bro. I appreciate your mod. However, I encounter an error where I start the siege of a city port, the map will turn into the land battle and the ships are still there but not controllable then it crash. Just let you know it. It is still a great mod as I enjoyed it :). If you can fix this, it will be great :)

Does it require same DLC to play this mod's version of "Hannibal at the Gates"

unfortunately English is the only supported language for this mod. If you try to play with any other language setting, you'll end up with missing text entries everywhere. Someone will have to localize it and make a submod.

simmilar question as comment below but polish

Seems like a really good mod, and I'd love to try it out. Is there a submod or language pack that allows you to play the mod in German?

(Part 5, added on later) I do also want to quickly add that this doesn't mean AI was used to create the core mod. I am a game development student after all.

I spent years learning the engine and how to mod it. I spend countless hours learning to script in LUA to make events and custom occurrences in the campaign. I spent countless hours in Photoshop, Substance Painter, and 3DS Max making new unit cards, weapons and equipment, character skins, retextures, etc... And I spent equally as long filling out the gameplay databases creating new entries for units, buildings, technologies, balancing stats, and bringing friends in for rigorous testing and balancing... but creating large composition pictures depicting cities, people, and delicate events is simply out of my skill set, and I used AI to fill in the gaps.

(Part 4) One time, someone came into my Discord, very angry and used vulgar language, and demanded that I pay artists to make the art rather than use AI. My response is the same response I'll give now; if you are happy to donate hundreds, possibly thousands, of dollars for me to go and hire artists, I'd be happy to forgo AI - but unless that happens, I will have to rely on AI to generate art for event pictures and loading screens. I already spent thousands of hours of my own time making this mod and keeping it updated for all to enjoy, and demanding me to fork over money to provide a mod you can play for free, just came off as very immature of that person and really just sounded like someone on the AI hate bandwagon. I can understand their frustration as a fellow creative myself when seeing how AI is affecting our job market, but we also have to be realistic with our expectations and demands.

I hope you understand!
Thank you :)
