Description
“All out war has broken out in one of the Ark's arid wastelands. Keep your preferred heavy weapon handy. Large scale AI combat on a fresh locale that's bound to please!”

*Mod fully updated to function with the February 28th, 2025 patch of Halo: MCC.

Welcome to my next AI War project. It has been a while since I last posted a mod, and am glad to finally be changing that today! A very special thanks to Krevil for making this truly fun playspace. The map was just begging to have a large-scale AI war created special for it! All types of forces you can think of have been included in this battle, including even a Scarab! Everything is fully under your command via my AI switch system, which allows you to fully customize the battle however you see fit. Your imagination can truly run wild with this highly customizable battle! This mod is tons of fun, and will keep you hooked for many play sessions to come! Enjoy and let me know what you think in the comments below!

Map Features
  • An Endless AI War with all AI infantry and vehicles able to respawn indefinitely.
  • Pathfinding everywhere.
  • Tactical AI orders for each squad, so that multiple battles can take place at once all across this large arena.
  • For the first time ever on my maps - an AI Scarab as an optional spawn for the Covenant team. This map truly fits the Scarab well. Full pathfinding for the Scarab also included. It will fight anywhere and everywhere.
  • Two easter egg weapons to discover.
  • Custom scripted Pelican and Phantom drops for many of the AI squads, with multiple drop off locations and variations for each to keep things fresh.
  • Custom made assets created by the community included.
  • Carefully staggered spawns so that AI intelligence is kept at optimal levels throughout your playtime.

And a lot more to discover!

How to Download and Play

After subscribing to the mod, allow the download to complete. After, launch MCC with anti-cheat disabled. Navigate to creative (Forge) or custom games, select Halo 3, and then choose the map “Badlands AI Battlefield” in the modded maps section. Join the GREEN team to be allied with the UNSC forces, or PURPLE to side with the Covenant. Select your settings as you see fit, and then load in as usual. You should be good to go. If you intend to spectate, go into player (and editor if playing Forge) traits in the settings, and set invulnerability in player damage settings as well as permanent strong active camo in player visuals. If you want spawns to be consistent, keep reading below to the spawns section to learn how to set them up.

Setting Up Player Spawns (Optional)

Due to Halo 3 multiplayer limitations, this takes some effort from you the player to set up each game. Following this process is not required if you do not care about where players will respawn. If you do want your spawns to be consistent with the side you are allied with, follow this procedure each time you start a new game on this map.

Make sure you are on the RED team when in the pregame lobby. After configuring your settings, launch the match. Make sure you are still on the RED team on the first spawn in. From here, you are going to be joining a few teams in a very specific order. This matters. Please follow this order exactly:

Change from RED > BLUE > GREEN > ORANGE > PURPLE.

After you make it to purple, you are all set. Join a team listed in the how to section to ally yourself with a faction. Spawns will now be consistent with the sides your allied AI arrives on. Green will spawn you on the UNSC side, and Purple will spawn you on the Covenant side. Being on any other team color other than green or purple will result in you being alone with no AI allies. If you fail the above order of team swaps, you will need to return to the pregame lobby, reset yourself to the red team, and start again in a fresh session.

That's a really good idea! Probably takes the battle to a whole new level!

@Jak You need to be in Forge to do the team swaps. In custom games, when you change teams the game just ends. I wish it didn’t work like that but unfortunately it does.

Possibly a stupid question but I am trying to get the player spawning to work, but for some reason every time I swap teams the game decides to end, even if I put in multiple rounds. I am playing this solo so is it possible it is ending because there are no players left on a team?

@cwalkinsun Once in game or in the pregame lobby, go to the roster where you are listed. Select it, and an option to change teams should be there.
