Most nations thought it impossible to meet Auraxis head-on. They were in favour of keeping their heads down, and leaving others who misstepped to burn.

With the seeming success of the Excalibur Initiative, the largest of the border nations - the Nadia Republic - demanded a different course of action. To arms, to arms, they cried! If war was inevitable, then they would give them war! Win or lose, they would visit such ruin upon Auraxis that they would never think of war again! Faced with slow death or possible freedom, they chose to gamble it all. Their influence was great, and their cause just; more nations followed its lead each day.

To this day, arguments rage over whether the Collapse was inevitable as Nadia thought or whether the unimaginable slaughter was avoidable somehow. What if the Auraxians repaired the Sword of Akasha? Had it been it possible to mitigate and divert, and stay alive that way?

In the years between the fall of the Anselm Empire and the beginning of the Collapse, Nanite Systems flourished as Nadia threw everything it had at building military might and reforming its fleets. They solicited contracts to develop a new integrated battlefield system - Yggdrasil - and new vehicles that would fall under its aegis. At first, they were a small player, but as the larger contractors faltered Nanite Systems took up the slack.

Their vehicles made up some 40% of Nadia's fleets when war finally broke out.
