Germany: More Events (Vanilla +)

Disclaimer: Proper history is used throughout. The mod does not intend in any way to promote National Socialist ideology, nor to engage in revisionist history of any kind. It goes without saying that I do not condone the ideology, nor the acts of Nazi Germany in any way.

The era that this mod covers for Germany is equally interesting as it is horrifying.
The guiding principle of this mod is immersion and the writing often follows this, closely mimicking the style and language of 1930s and 40s newsreels, speeches and media, with the associated raw tone and hyperbolic language. Perhaps I may have been too successful attempting this at times. But depiction is not endorsement and equally I prefer that the condemnation of Nazi Germany be done through the historical facts presented.


This mod simply adds historical events that are currently absent in the game, including in the Götterdämmerung DLC. Keeping with my overall philosophy regarding HOI4 modding, these events are simply informational and cosmetic, adding to the flavour of a playthrough of Germany, and do not alter the game balance in any way.

The events are constructed to use the mechanics of the vanilla game, with triggers based on a number of factors to ensure they show up when and where appropriate.

It is of course compatible with the Götterdämmerung DLC and the new update.


Over 300 events have been added, including the following:

-News event: 1936 Winter Olympics
-News event: Louis vs. Schmeling boxing match (1936)
-News event: Louis vs. Schmeling boxing rematch (1938)
-Reich Exhibition 'Schaffendes Volk' in Düsseldorf (1937)
-Nuremberg Rally events taking place annually in September from 1936 to 1938 (possibly 1939 depending on whether war breaks out or not). These events only take place if you follow the historical path (Rheinland, Anschluss, Sudetenland) in their appropriate years.
-Military parade for Hitler's 50th birthday in 1939
-Screen media in Nazi Germany (on the increasing importance of moving pictures for propaganda)
-2 events on the common newsreels of the time ('Ufa-Tonwoche' and later, the 'Deutsche Wochenschau')
-'Mit brennender Sorge' (1937)
-Hitler visit to Italy (bilateral event, 1938)
-Mussolini visit to Germany (bilateral event, 1937)
-Events for the Winterhilfswerk and Kriegswinterhilfswerk
-KdF-Wagen Factories and the new city that was built
-5 events for Danzig and the lead-up to war, including Operation Konserve and the Gleiwitz incident (triggered by focuses and focus progress)
-War declaration on Poland speech
-Radio Propaganda against enemy countries event (which leads to the next two when appropriate)
-Lord Haw Haw (+ a triggered event for the UK)
-Axis Sally (+ a triggered event for the USA)
-Siege of Warsaw event
-Takeover of Danzig during invasion of Poland
-Hitler's Response to Roosevelt (1939) (+ a triggered event for USA)
-Death of Otto Wels
-Bürgerbräukeller Bombing (1939 if at war)
-An event about a certain sweet drink....

The player will come away from a playthrough having had a realistic historical experience.

Spanish Civil War: Vanilla + - Though on the Spanish Civil War primarily, it also adds relevant specific events for Germany in connection with Spain (both events during and after the Civil War), so I would humbly recommend it as well if you enjoy a historical playthrough.
