Terror Series: Apocalypse of the Mutated Infected

Description
Continuing from M.I.B Magnum case, survivors arrived at an abandoned military research facility. Right there, they found a horrible fact. They're not the first one finding the M.I.B Magnum, but the military was the first instead. Not long afterwards, there was a fated encounter, between a bad-mouthed cowboy with M.I.B Magnum in hands & a woman that shot laser from her mouth, "Demolition Ray Spitter". Of all survivors, Ellis was the only one so hyped to see a modern cowboy movie where Cowboy Nick faced Cowgirl Spitter to see which one shot laser beam faster.
Ellis: "Heh heeey... This is going to be cool..."
Nick: "Is this some kind of a sick joke...?"

& that became a background story later about why military decided to "rescue" them on "The Parish" bridge instead of killing or leaving them to die.

Well, enough, for the background story, this mod transforms spitter into a new "Terror" even more dangerous than normal Smoker. She no longer spits acid, but she shoots laser beam from her mouth :D . When the laser beam explodes, the area will be covered in fire. When she dies, the area around her will also be covered in fire. So, special infected gets another "sniper type" with this mod.

Here are some animated previews:

List of features available on "demolition ray spitter.txt" cfg file:
  1. Ignore Difficulty Level: This controls whether all the additional effects are active or not. Here are the comparisons:
    Difficulty
    Ignore Difficulty Level= 0
    Ignore Difficulty Level= 1
    Easy
    Damage= 15
    Damage= 30
    "Black & White" status debuff
    Alerts horde
    Normal
    Damage= 25
    Damage= 50
    "Black & White" status debuff
    Alerts horde
    Advanced
    Damage= 40
    Damage= 80
    "Black & White" status debuff
    Alerts horde
    Expert
    Damage= 75
    Damage= 150
    "Black & White" status debuff
    Alerts horde

  2. Allow Stumble On Blast: When enabled, survivors will stumble when they're in blast radius. The blast radius is 2x of grenade launcher radius.

  3. Spitter Special Immunity: When enabled, spitter gains 80% damage resist of any kinds of attacks (example: if spitter normally takes 90 damage, with this feature enabled, she only takes 18 damage).

Here are the traits of "Demolition Ray Spitter":
  • Spitter can no longer spit acid, but acid will still spread when she dies.

  • Spitter shoots laser beam in 0.5 second after the acid skill is used.

  • The laser beam triggers fire after explosion. The fire is thicker than molotov, like having 2 molotovs in one place, so it deals damage 2x faster than molotov fire.

  • As the laser beam has 100% accuracy & instant hit in crosshair, it can miss if survivors keep moving.

  • The explosion caused by the laser beam deals greater damage the closer survivors are to the center of explosion. (Examples: On Normal difficulty without enabling "Ignore Difficulty Level", the damage when a survivor gets direct hit by laser is around 25, but when it misses, the farther the survivor is from the explosion, the lesser the damage will be)

  • The explosion shockwave when "Allow Stumble On Blast" or "Ignore Difficulty Level" is enabled can bypass walls & obstacles, but the explosion can't. So, you can still stumble when taking cover behind walls, though you're safe from explosion damage. & if "Ignore Difficulty Level" is enabled, you'll still get "Black & White" status debuff even if you hide behind a wall.

  • Info for spitter players: The laser beam can do friendly fire damage, so try not to shoot your teammates as the fire on the ground will burn your special infected teammates to death even if they don't die from laser beam.

  • Tips for survivors: Keep moving when fighting a spitter, don't stand still so you won't get shot with laser beam right at your face. & run immediately when fire starts to spread from the explosion, as it deals damage faster than normal molotov fire.

So, with this mod, another terror was born, thanks to the military researches on M.I.B Magnum.

NOTES:
  • A video preview will be added later.
  • This mod is not compatible with other spitter mods that still use normal acid, as this mod will remove the acid projectile the moment she spits acid & replace it with laser beam instead.

@Krizalid , now that you mentioned about an addon to stagger, yes, that can also become the cause. That addon is triggered when special infected deals damage to a survivor. & if that is used together with this mod & then the fire is spawned, it's not strange to keep staggering in fire because the fire damage is registered to spitter. So, you can try to disable that stagger addon & check if you still stagger when fire is spawned after laser beam.

Okay, so after thinking about it, this particular issue may or may not be caused by an addon that gives the SI the ability to stagger you when hitting you heheh. Sorry for the trouble

@Krizalid , I checked the fire, & there's no stumble script there. If it's about the movement-lock when she's shooting laser beam that directly hits a survivor, that's one of effects of the laser beam, so once the movement is frozen for few miliseconds, that indicates a guaranted laser hit, so that's why players need to keep moving or shoot from behind a cover (door, wall etc) to prevent spitter from looking at them more than one second before using laser beam. That way, the laser beam will miss.
As for the movement lock when fire is spawned after explosion, that usually lasts only for less than one second, so you need to keep holding any movement buttons to escape immediately before the fire spreads wider.

Maybe i'm not getting it, but i meant like i wanna turn off the stumbling that's caused by the fire that comes after the explosion. It's annoying because it stun-locks me

@Krizalid , it's probably the stumble effect from the explosion, not from the shockwave. The stumble effect controlled by "Allow Stumble On Blast" is only for the shockwave, while the stumble effect from explosion comes only when a player is too close to the explosion (like when a propane tank explodes too close). The stumble effect from explosion can only be avoided by staying farther from explosion, or taking cover before explosion shows up, while the stumble from shockwave will bypass obstacles (taking cover is meaningless).

Yeah, i set it on 0 and it still doesn't work, at least for me
kurochama  [author] 5 Jun @ 2:54pm
@Krizalid , did "Allow Stumble On Blast" also not work?

How do i turn off the stupid stumbling whenever i get hit by the fire? It won't turn off regardless of the settings, and it's extremely annoying
