The sections describe how to deal with the harder version of counter Dark Event for better experience and reward gains!

Note: A new challenge presents itself in this mission as the Muton or the MEC start joining the enemy ranks!

Who is the intended audience?
The guide is for everyone, but much friendlier to new players. Everything will be explained to be on the same level as those who are the most experienced. The writing will be easy to follow with plenty of screenshots for those who are too lazy to read everything!
Before Starting Mission
The research must be switched temporarily to Plated Armor in case of Insight reward.
The fresh new project will benefit the most from the reward and progress will be much closer to Plasma weaponry!

Note: The current most time-consuming project must always be selected beforehand.
What is Different Now?
There may be a random chance of a Reinforcement Drop when there are ~4 turns remaining. The enemies will be a mix of either Trooper, Officer, or Stun Lancer.
Rolling for Better Mission Type
The best reward is at least 90 Intel and needs to counter the most dangerous Dark Event.
A Scientist or Engineer reward will only be available, if none were obtained earlier this month.
A random lucky Resistance Rumor can also spawn an additional guerrilla operation.
The preferred mission is to roll for an Advent Facility or Train because of a higher reward chance to get possibly the Insight.

Note: A save is needed before such mission is generated to have the superior reward option and the total choices (max of 3) depend on currently owned regions.

Know Thy Surroundings
The first objective is to scan surroundings for buildings that can serve as a Sniper's nest.
The setup needs to account for the direction of the main objective, especially in an urban area where multiple buildings can block line of fire.

Note: Locating the enemy beforehand will determine which building is optimal.
1st Pod
Both Specialists need to climb up the nearest building and be on Overwatch.
The Grenadier with saturated fire can initiate if the enemy is within range and without any cover.

The attack itself may wipe out 2 out of 3 enemies, depending on their health.
The Specialists will most likely finish off the last enemy with Overwatch.

Note: Not all Soldiers need to participate if the entire pod is wiped and can advance instead.
2nd Pod: Scouting
The Ranger will scout ahead to ensure that the rest of Squad are not seen by the next pod.
The Sniper will reposition to get the best angle on the second pod for the next battle.
The mission objective will most likely be guarded by an enemy pod.
The Ranger could initiate with her Rapidfire that has a chance to instantly kill on the first shot.
2nd Pod: Single Elimination Option
The Ranger or Sniper's Deadeye may have a chance of instantly killing Stun Lancer.
The enemy pod may not react because the rest are hidden behind the van. The Squad can use such opportunity to get into better positions to deal with them on the next turn.
2nd Pod: Battle
The Sniper's normal attack without killing the Stun Lancer will lure out the entire pod.
The enemy pod will react and come much closer to the Squad to be within their weapon range.
The Ranger must attack the Viper with Rapidfire with the Shadowstrike bonus.
The remaining enemies can be disposed with a combination of Hail of Bullets, Grenade, and manual attacks.
3rd Pod: Scouting
The Ranger will check behind the mission objective to locate the last enemy pod.
She will take full cover while the Sniper sets up the Kill Zone in that area for the imminent battle.
The Squad will get close as possible and be on Overwatch.
The Specialists on the roof will do likewise but relocate to the edge that is closest to the van.
3rd Pod: Battle
The Sniper will most likely trigger and force the the enemy to react on their turn.
The last enemy pod will take considerable damage, and may suffer a casualty or two.
Grenadiers will be needed to destroy any full cover and finish off any critically injured enemy.
The very last enemy will be fully exposed to be easily picked off. If the Advent Security Tower has not been accessed yet, the Specialists must start with them first.

Note: The completion of the main objective with no living enemy will immediately end the mission.
Hacking Manipulation
The highest-ranking Specialist must access the objective due to maximum tech score.
Rewards that grant resources are usually the best type instead of combat bonuses.

Each reward type must be read carefully because the benefit does not always reflect the hacking difficulty.

Note: The higher tier reward is obtainable through RNG as a different success chance is produced every other turn but can only be viewed once.
Back at HQ
The Plated Armor Research has now been reduced to only 11 days from 21!
Immediately switch research back to Alien Encryption, if it has not been completed yet.
The same research can be halved again, if another was found through the extra Resistance Rumor!

Note: Insight needs to be used on the current longest research of either Gauss Weapons or Plated Armor.
Epilogue
The same early goal remains to keep soldiers healthy to be deployed continuously until the AWC is constructed.
