Description
Presenting, Turtle's L'il Absol Race!
This mod adds a playable Absol, from Pokemon! Featuring 13 moves to learn and custom animations!
Built on the frameworks provided by MrPlague's Authentic Races, Turtle's L'il Dragon Race, and Turtle's PokeLib. Those are required to run this mod!

***** Main Traits *****
+ 10% increased final damage dealt (will not show up on character creation screen. Does not affect moves.)
+ 10% increased critical hit chance
+ 10% increased movement speed
+ 51 increased jump force (about 1 block)
- 15% reduced max health
- 5% increased damage taken

***** Other Traits *****
+ Slightly improved acceleration
+ Innate Dangersense. Toggle with a bindable hotkey
~ Non-minecart mounts act like transformations, hiding your character. Items can still be used.
~ Slightly wider but shorter hitbox. Can fit into a 2x2 space. Hitbox is reverted to normal while mounted.
* Crouch by holding DOWN. Mostly cosmetic.
* Can be mounted by others, granting resistance to the rider.

Please see the mod page for Turtle's L'il Dragon Race if you want to know more about mounting.

***** About Moves *****
Absol can learn up to four moves, which can be used with the racial ability keybinds from MrPlague's Authentic Races.
You don't level up though, instead you will need to craft Absol Move Books, which can be used to learn a move! More information is in the item descriptions in-game.

The following moves, their books (and recipes) exist. No crafting station required:
- Leer (1 Lens)
- Quick Attack (3 Fallen Stars + 1 Swiftness Potion)
- Double Team (1 Aglet + 1 Anklet of the Wind. Not consumed.)
- Knock Off (10 Gold Coins)
- Detect (5 Demonite/Crimtane Bars + 3 Dangersense Potions)
- Taunt (2 Shark Fins + 5 Battle Potions)
- Slash (5 Shadow Scales/Tissue Samples + 5 Antlion Mandibles)
- Night Slash (5 Shadow Scales/Tissue Samples + 5 Antlion Mandibles + 1 Black Lens)
- Focus Energy (5 Hellstone Bars + 3 Magic Power Potions + 1 Amber)
- Sucker Punch (5 Shadow Scales/Tissue Samples + 3 Swiftness Potions + 3 Amethysts)
- Swords Dance (99 Bones, 1 Volcano/Fiery Greatsword, 5 Hunter Potions)
- Future Sight (5 Souls of Light, 5 Souls of Night, 20 Crystal Shards)
- Perish Song (1 Soul of Fright, 1 Harp)

There is also a 'Forgetful' book crafted with 1 Mushroom which lets you unlearn moves!

***** About Vitamins *****
Moves don't grow in power on their own. To grow the power of your moves, you will need to ingest tiered Vitamin items.
Craft Vitamins using milestone materials, such as Demonite/Crimtane Bars, Hellstone, Hallowed Bars, etc.
Vitamins don't stack- only the strongest Vitamin you've used will take effect.
If you need to, there is also a Vitamin to reset your move power back to the default strength.
Unlike in Pokemon games, there is only one new stat here: Move Power. ATK, SP.ATK, DEF and SP.DEF do not exist in this mod!

The following Vitamin tiers are available. All Vitamins need a Bottle placed nearby to craft:
- Reset (1 Obsidian + 1 Bottled Water)
- Demonite/Crimson (3 Demonite/Crimtane Bars + 1 Bottled Water)
- Hellstone (3 Hellstone Bars + 1 Bottled Water)
- Light&Dark (2 Souls of Light + 2 Souls of Night + 1 Bottled Water)
- Hallowed (3 Hallowed Bars + 1 Bottled Water)
- Chlorophyte (3 Chlorophyte Bars + 1 Bottled Water)
- Spectre (3 Spectre Bars + 1 Bottled Water)
- Beetle (3 Beetle Husks + 1 Bottled Water)
- Cosmic (1 of each pillar fragment + 1 Bottled Water)
- Luminite (3 Luminite Bars + 1 Bottled Water)

***** Extra Keybinds *****
The following additional keybinds are available for functions like emotes or walking. Where indicated, the keybinds are located within PokeLib!
Emotes can only be used while idle, and do not have default keybindings.

Toggle Dangersense: Toggles Absol's innate Dangersense effect. Default key N. Note that this effect will not display an associated buff.
(PokeLib) Toggle Walking: Toggles if walking is enabled or not. While walking, your maximum movement speed is limited. Default key Q.
(PokeLib) Emote - Angry: Absol takes a readied stance and an angry expression.
(PokeLib) Emote - Sit: Absol sits down.
(PokeLib) Emote - Sleep: Absol lies down on the ground and closes its eyes.
(PokeLib) Emote - Lie Down: Absol lies down on the ground, but remains awake.
(PokeLib) Emote - Ouch!: Absol looks like it just got hurt!

Please assign keys in your PokeLib controls where needed!

***** Additional Notes *****
- Highly configurable! Most traits of both Absol and all moves can be configured to your heart's desires.
- Most armour and accessory layers are hidden, as they don't fit well on Absol. Sorry!
- Since Absol doesn't visibly wear armour, you can instead dye Absol directly!
- Did you know there's a 1 in 4096 chance for the shiny variant to appear on the character creation screen? The chance is rolled when the mod is loaded. If you want to make a character with the shiny colours, here's the hex codes: F89280 for skin, 2CB2A0 for eyes.

...and I think it goes without saying, but I am in no way affiliated with the owners of Pokemon and this mod is not 'official', I just like Absol :)

FYI more PokeLib upgrades happening... keybinds for walking and emoting are moving to PokeLib so you may need to rebind keys! Sorry for the trouble~

Hi all! Just a heads-up that this mod now depends on a new mod, Turtle's PokeLib, which holds a number of common features and functions that would be used in the event that another playable Pokemon race is made using the same move system that this mod uses.
The code library would also help ease the process of making such races for other developers too, not just myself, as they can reuse the move system and vitamin items from the new library mod.

I've done my best to try and keep all player save data intact with this change, so please let me know if you suddenly lose learnt moves or have your move power reset!

Outside of modded accessories, only balloons or accessories technically marked as a 'balloon' will render, if I'm not mistaken. Wings, too, if you count the custom wing sprites as an accessory layer.

I know it says "most armor and accessory slots are hidden" in the description. Which of course makes sense. What layers/accessory types are actually visible?

I'm using Taunt in place of Sucker Punch because well, I'm playing melee, I can see its appeal when you fill a different role though!

Yup yup
I am a personal fan of Quick Attack, Sucker Punch, Detect and Double Team. Missing out on Focus Energy and Swords Dance is unfortunate but having on-demand defensive options is worth it on harder difficulties where getting hit is a no-no.

The more I play with the mod, the more I realise how strong your movement options are... and it honestly balances out being generally flimsier than average (Calamity/Fargo's on combined Death/Eternity modes is a good metric for it). The 4 move syndrome is real here, though, as all the dodging/defence moves are too good to pass on. :steamhappy:

I can imagine. The move system is kinda nuts.
