The KCD2 Nutrition Mod

Description
Compatible with update v1.3 of the base game

KCD2 Nutrition System Mod

This mod enhances Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's survival mechanics by adding a comprehensive nutrition and hydration system. It's designed for players seeking a more immersive and realistic roleplaying experience where Henry's nutritional choices have meaningful impacts on his performance.

What this mod does

- Introduces a complete nutrition system that tracks Henry's consumption of proteins, vegetables, fruits, and hydration
- Implements debuffs for nutritional deficiencies, including scurvy (from lack of fruit), malnutrition (from protein deficiency), sluggishness (from vegetable deficiency), and dehydration
- Provides meaningful buffs for maintaining a balanced diet, with appropriate bonuses for eating complete, well-rounded meals
- Categorizes all food items in the game according to their nutritional content, making food choices more strategic and realistic
- Encourage realistic eating and drinking patterns without becoming burdensome or distracting from the main gameplay

Who it's for

This mod is perfect for immersion-focused players who enjoy survival style games and want their in-game choices to reflect medieval realities. It adds depth to everyday activities like travelling between towns, to support an experience more in line with the reality of the time. Plan your trips to ensure you have drinking water and decent travel rations for good health. Ideal for role players who want to experience the challenges of maintaining health in a historically accurate medieval setting.

How it works

The nutrition system tracks four key aspects of your diet:
- Protein Intake: Meats, fish, eggs, and cheese maintain your strength and stamina
- Vegetable Consumption: Various vegetables and herbs enhance agility and overall health
- Fruit Consumption: Fruits prevent scurvy and maintain vitality
- Hydration: Regularly consuming liquids prevents dehydration and maintains performance

Each nutritional component provides buffs when maintained and debuffs when neglected.
The system is designed to be intuitive and realistic - you won't need to obsessively track nutrition, but maintaining a varied diet will significantly improve Henry's capabilities in the field. Watch for status indicators showing your current nutritional state, when the gold has expired, a grey debuff is applied, and you will need to eat or drink accordingly to have it removed.

Versions

Default version is In Game and Inventory - Shows the buffs/debuffs both in the Inventory Buff area, and on screen during gameplay, which is used when you subscribe for this mod. Alternate versions are up on Nexus Mods if you prefer not to have the status indicators on screen during gameplay:

- Inventory Only - Shows the buffs/debuffs both in the Inventory Buff area only
- Hardcore - No visible buff indicators. Keep track of the time and eat/drink appropriately without any visual assistance

You will have to download the alternate versions and replace this mod with them if you want the different visual behaviour:

Compatibility

This mod works alongside The KCD2 Cooking Mod and The KCD2 Camping Mod, and is designed to enhance the role playing experience in KCD2 collectively. It's specifically designed to complement the KCD2 Cooking Mod, allowing you to create nutritionally balanced recipes with enhanced game play benefits that come from cooking decent meals.

Visiting the bathhouse resets the nutrition of all 4 types, and dehydrates you; even if it was completely full before you started your bath.

As such you need to eat even though your nourishment is full; resulting in a lot of overeating. (As mentioned by Dopamine.Terrorist below)
Then you need to restock all 4 types again, so you'll go through food faster and certain food types (vegetables and fruit) are a lot harder to find than meat in most of the map so you can actually run out and soft-lock yourself. (malnutrion + overencumbrance + bleed = spiral of death, bleed optional)

Lastly, alcohlic beverages not rehydrating makes me sad; but I understand you'd probably have to rework every existing item to add the functionality? Hence the addition of a new item: drinking water. Perhaps a cantine item or the ability to refill bottles would be possible?

Even with the described issues, I'm really enjoying the extra immersion! Thank you.
Would be nice if nutrients last a lot longer (e.g. you can live without protein intake for a long time without feeling detrimental effects, but you'll feel very thirsty even after just a day without water) and had more stages or smoothly transitioned but also that eating one of any nutrient doesnt fully max it out.

Various foods especially those created from the cooking mod should be able to fill up multiple nutrition areas too.

Just for my understanding: if I eat a simple dish from the cooking mod, my protein bar, f.e. after eating something with meat, doesn't fill up. Is this intended and if yes, is it planed to integrate the mods more into each other? Btw love your mods, they really enhance gameplay in kcd2!

Amazing mod, only nitpick is it feels a little like food nourishment is too high compared to its nutritional content. It kinda leads the experience to force the use of a LOT of digestive potions in order to keep nutrition met without overeating frequently. Makes it extremely hard/annoying to keep a balanced diet, and its much more exacerbated if you ever use the baths as well as you exit for some reason completely malnourished with scurvy a protein deficiency, dehydration etc.

With this mod installed I lose energy when riding the horse in trot. Walk or galop is fine.

it's seems that, after goeing to bath, all nutritions go in 0, I will uninstall this mod but it's really nice! I will check again after update :)

Not sure if this is intentional or not, but after installing the mod I IMMEDIATELY started out with all the stats at the absolute bottom values, crippling my abilities and making me unable to effectively wield half my weapons. I hope this is a bug, otherwise it seems kinda ridiculous to start you off like that instead of starting you off at full values. I have 100 Nourishment too so I can't even do anything about that without trudging myself over to the nearest alchemy bench a million miles away. I gotta uninstall this mod because of that, if it gets fixed then I'll re-download. If it's intentional, I'll politely decline using this one and just stick with the Cooking/Camping mod. Otherwise, I love your work dude, I hope this is a bug and that you can fix it!

@ Doc - sounds like you might have another mod overwriting my changes to certain foods.. for mine to work, the foods need a buff attached to it. if another mod edits the same food entry and changes all its values and removes the buff my mod added, you would end up with a scenario where some foods are working and other aren't. try loading up with only this mod and see if the meat and fish work as intended. if so, start adding mods back one by one till you find the conflict

Awesome mod, really enjoying it. Does anyone know if there's a way of obtaining drinking water without having to buy it?
