this mod is in early access, you will see a LOT of placeholders, see change notes for the most recent info

i'm making some scope changes for 1.0, to keep on target after i took a wayyy too long break. my bad. updated roadmap coming soon. i'm also going to put some of my workflow on github, including an example blender file showing the shader setup i use to alter the sc2 textures - so anyone can make mods in this style

Description & Goals
when biogenesis came out i knew i needed my favourite space bugs to forcibly evolve into planet eating behemoths, so here they are - styled to (sort of) match the 2D stellaris style.

you can see the roadmap image for a progress report, 1.0 will be ready this summer if everything goes to plan. the full feature list at release will hopefully look like this:

  • portraits: 10 units, each with variants to keep things exciting. these will include all the classic ground units along with the swarm's current leader, Zagara.
  • room sets: a rocky desert scene, matching the rocks seen in portraits, for your wild zerg fantasies, along with the leviathan for swarm specific builds.
  • hivemind civics and origins: you can find a discussion with my current plans for civics and origins, but they are set to change and i'm eager for ideas from players
  • species traits: some are now in game! the 'essence' line of traits are small buffs based on other species, and later in development they will be acquired through Assimilation Events rather than species selection. more trait lines to come!
  • & of course, the zerg flag.

all of my former stretch goals have been planned out for updates post-release, the order and exact contents aren't set but i would like to put out 2 subspecies packs, and a shipset. the shipset is highly requested, but is FAR from my comfort zone, so it will be coming last. sorry, gotta make sure i'm ready before tackling something that big and visible in game.

leave portrait, room, and any other suggestions in the comments. if you see something that looks off - like dodgy alignment or an error in one of my renders, also let me know - fixes are easy, testing every portrait in every menu is not.

would it be too inconvenient to ask for a version of the mod that only has portraits, nothing that affects gameplay? i have 2 main playsets, modded and vanilla+ and would like it to be able to fit into both (the portraits are really nice)

Nice mod. Do you plan to add the primal none hive mind version of the Zerg to this mod or be willing to make another for the primals?
