0.13 - scope changes

so, portraits have become a huge time sink despite no one actually sharing interest in having the finished roster available. to speed up development of the bigger features like civics and origins, i'm halving the initial amount of units available as of 1.0. some of the cut units won't ever be coming back - a lot of the SCII flyers look really bad in static portraits, so they're cut for good. however, some content cut from 1.0 will just come later in dedicated updates.
the portraits take much longer than they might look, so this is a huge help for releasing on time

when units will be added + all post release plans
everything post release has no timeline, just that i want to make it, and eventually will. 1.0 will still be out this summer.

1.0: The Swarm Descends
zagara, drones, zerglings, banelings, roaches, hydralisks, lurkers, ultralisks, swarmhosts, queens + levaithan and planetscape rooms + civics, origins, traits, etc etc.

1.1: Surviving Strains
the overmind, guardians, devourers, the classic queen.

1.2: Malicious Mutations
abathur, vipers, overseers + the evolution pit room.

2.0: Primal Packs
dehaka, primal zerglings, roaches, hydras, ultralisks, and a few of the unique primal units which i absolutely cannot remember the names of <3 + a zerus themed room + unique traits and civics.

3.0: Twisted Terrans
stukov, infestors, infested terrans, infested marines, abberations + unique traits and civics.

i'll update the roadmap soon to show the content being moved from 1.0 and into its own updates. you may have noticed that kerrigan is not listed anywhere. dont kill me, but she is being cut for good. her textures just do not behave with my shader setup, i tried for days and its what led to my mini crash out where i stopped developing this for a month lol. she could be added but would look completely different to the other content and i don't want that. feel free to complain in the comments, but it won't get her added, sorry <3

0.12: reorganised & reworked

okay,, i may have made a controversial choice this week but i feel it was essential. all portraits have been either removed entirely or reworked with my new shading and lighting techniques, the setup that will be used for all new content until release. basically, the quality of the portraits was all over the place as i experimented so now that i've gotten a production ready setup; it was time to tidy up the mess and get everything up to the same standard.

so far 7 species (14 portraits total) have been reworked, which does mean the count is slightly down from 0.11 - but, everything has been hugely improved even down to the scenery around the units. all of the species now in game have both of their variants completed as well, so unlike last patch there will be NO surprise missing leader portraits once you start a game. all the species here now are complete and fully playable.

other stuff i did:

> updated the steam graphics, added a road map graphic
> finished the tooltips for the 'essence' line of traits

PORTRAITS

+ ultralisks

- all 'beta' portraits

TRAITS
+ aquatic essence: ocean world habitability
+ psionic essence: research and unity job efficiency

+ traits! half of them are functional, some are missing effects. they're all missing custom icons, working on it xoxo
+ sharpened claws: extra army damage
+ hardened carapace: extra army health
+ ursadon essence: cold world habitability
+ primal essence: tropical world habitability
+ baneling burst: not functioning, will deal army damage on death
+ larval stage: big bonuses to pop growth, habitability, in exchange for massive job output decrease. use this on a fast spreading species before gene modding them to dedicated roles, i think you get the vision here
+ hive proxy: leadership age and experience
+ erased will: not functioning, will be a nerfed version of nerve stapled
+ insatiable: not functioning, was meant to be food upkeep for pops but there doesn't seem to be a modifier for that, so it will maybe be reduced agri jobs output instead
+ tech incompatability: reduced energy output
