Assign Item's Category

Description
*** What The Junk - assign item's display category ***

Is your spoon classified as a deadly weapon? Is your pillow a survival tool?
You bet it is… but not anymore.

With this mod every single item can now be re-categorized to something that makes sense (or doesn't - your call).
You can finally take full control of your inventory’s chaos.
No more “Weapon - Melee” spoons. No more “Junk” treasures.

Setup

Works out of the box.
No config. No setup. It is though advised to keep the mod at the bottom of your mod load order (that's by default when you add it, but adding more mods would move it later up in the list and that may cause problems)

How To Use

Right-click on any item in your inventory.
Select “Assign Category”
Pick a new category from the list, but mind that:

NOTE! The existing category changes are not immediate and require reload due to the way the engine works

WHY: The display categories depend on the items' script files which cannot be changed during runtime (in-game).

Compatibility

This mod should be placed at the bottom of your mod load order. When you add this mod, that's set by default, but adding new mods afterwards will push this one up the list, and may (not very likely) cause conflicts/problems.
Safe to add/remove anytime - no savefile carnage involved.
Tested on Build 42. Might work on 41, but I ain't making promises. I actually promise I'll port it back to B41 soon.

Known Issues

None known, so you can be the first to report a bug! That'd be cool :)

hello, mod is good. thanks
could you add ability to assign multiply various item which i selected to one category?
pimatstudio  [author] 23 Jul @ 9:01am
@K.Plotnikof

Yes it does

@Meyar

I tried to do that but it doesn't seem to be possible. Technically you can easily create your own new categories but it's not possible to create a standalone, product mod for people to use because what you need to do is to mess around with editing game files to create a new category. And there's no possibility to do it from the game itself like from a pop-up menu in-game. Hit me up and I can tell you how to do that if you want :)

Does this mod mod support better sorting? So you can put items in those extra categories that mod adds?

Sorry I got slammed with other stuff,

Basically, I'm asking if you can point me to an existing how-to guide to create my own mod that creates new categories that can be assigned.

@Meyar,
Ummm... I'm not sure if I got that right but were you asking me to upload a version of the mod where you can set up your own category to an item? If so, have you looked at the link I posted 2 answers below? Otherwise please explain again :)

oh and I know the link to the file there is already inactive, but let me know if that's what you meant and I'll just upload it inside the mod here.

@pimatstudio Can you point me to a guide if you know of one of defining new categories as its own mod so I can assign them with this one? If it's a bother don't worry about it, I'll dig around myself if I have to. :steamhappy:

@Cam I'm sorry, you yet cannot, see here
