"Wetworker" Spy Raincoat/Jacket

"Observer" Spy Set SFM Assets

Description
A slim raincoat/trenchcoat for the Spy.

An SFM-friendly verison of my raincoat submission for TF2. It was originally made on a whim, as a 5th entry in my "Observer" Spy set. At this point, it is likely the most overblown item in the set, having 2 revisions and 8 coats total across all of my files.

This subscription contains the following items:

- "m_spy_raincoat.mdl": This is the standard coat, and essentially the same as what was submitted to the TF2 workshop. I made some minor adjustments to the weights, bones, and ik-rigging to make the transition to SFM a bit smoother. I doubt you'll likely need this coat, but it could be used for distance shots or loadouts. I used this coat for all of the promotional pictures on its respective TF2 workshop page.

- "hwm_spy_raincoat.mdl": The up-rezzed, filled out coat for the Spy. I used this coat for my hat promos, and all non-"Wetworker" promo images. It features an interior, folds along the seams, and a detached belt for easier posing. This coat is useful for moving or up close shots. You'll likely get the most mileage out of this version.

- "hwm_spy_raincoat_belt.md": The belt that accompanies the hwm raincoat. In order to make the coat easier to pose and to cut down on clipping for complex shots, I split the belt into its own model. It has 10+ bones, so you can wrap it around stuff or adjust it as need be. Its already has a default pose that it spawns with, so you don't have to painstakingly pose it each time.

- "hwm_spy_raincoat_pose.mdl": The "If all else fails" coat. While this coat was a bit of an afterthought, I included it in to help with extremely complex posing. It's the hwm coat, but rerigged and reweighted to allow for folding and warping of the coat independent of the Spy. Like the hwm coat, it also has a detached belt. It possesses a very small set of bones to help you get it onto the Spy, enough to get the coat following the Spy's spine and arms. After that, you are on your own as to how you want to look. Let this be a warning, it has 135 bones, and therefore is a nightmare to pose without any scripts. Some possible uses include: Draping on objects, folding over objects, complex running/movement shots, putting on/taking off the coat animations, etc.

IMPORTANT:
If you intend to use the pose coat, I HIGHLY recommend you pick up the rigging script for it. It will save you a lot of headaches.

Notes

-All versions of the coat feature heavy normal-mapping to emulate a sort of leathery/canvas/wet effect. Remember to use ample lighting to get the most of the coat's material.

-The default and hwm coats still retain most of their jiggle functionality. You'll still have to fudge them in SFM to get them to look right(the bones tend to follow rigidly in SFM).

-hwm, hwm_belt, and hwm_pose support painting in different colors. Simply override materials to select new colors.

-All three coats have issues with SSAO due to the way the normal mapping works. It is usually only apparent around the legs. Adjust your AO and poses accordingly, or switch to the hwm_pose coat for optimal results.

-In theory, you could scale the coat up and put it on different classes. Initial tests with the Scout yielded poor results around the arms, as the coat is tailor-made to the Spy.

-The belt model should be locked directly to the pelvis for initial posing. It should bind to an optimal default position, at which point you can begin modifying it to suit your purposes.

---HWM_POSE---
-The hwm_pose coat has several bodygroups, letting you disable some of the details in case they get in your way.

-The hwm_pose coat has poseable buttons. You can move them along the coat, or detach them. Useful if you create a pose that produces a weird button layout.

-IMPORTANT: When binding the hwm_pose coat to the Spy, DO NOT BIND THE HANDS. The hands are there only to keep the cuff oriented, they are not intended for posing directly. Binding these coat hands to the Spy's hands will produce catastrophic results, resulting in crazy warping and clipping of the cuffs into the jacket.

-If you encounter a problem with the afforementioned hwm_pose cuffs, you can turn them off in the bodygroup section.

That's part of the issue with complex cosmetics like these. They were originally tested against most of Spy's stock animations. Anything outside of that will require meticulous tweaking to prevent parts poking out.

The hwm (poorly named) coat was intended more for shots where you needed more control over the coat, such as when putting the coat on or taking it off. Alternatively, for shots where the coat needed to hang or lay in the background. The m_spy_raincoat fits more closely with the Spy, so it might reduce the pop out issue.

And I use the HWM one not any of the other ones, like the Enhanced model

Also, sorry if I worded what I said weirdly. What I meant was that bits of Spy’s body would poke out of the coat. And idk how to fully fix that
