Wow, that is a heavy compliment! Thank you! I love Ravric's Heavy Interceptor/Bomber, and they're actually part of what inspired the Ghost.
1) Because building it entirely large grid will probably increase the size more than five fold, and make it very difficult to balance how dampening interacts with the gravity drive. The point was to create something very compact that could orbit at high speeds at close range, making it an absurdly hard ship to target - manually or via AI. Making it a hybrid grid made this much easier.
2) Personally, I hate trying to fight at close range via cameras, so that wasn't really an option to me when I designed it. Also, it's worth noting that this thing is so fast and deals so much damage, you really don't get hit unless you make a mistake. I should have shown it in the video, but those two fights in the "Reveal" video resulted in virtually no damage to the Ghost. Minor armor deformation, and that's it.
1) If your propulsion + your main attack systems both stem from large grid blocks, why aren't you building a fighter-like large ship in the first place? Using small ship blocks just makes everything way more fragile.
2) Exposed cockpit. In a fight you're expecting to take most of the damage from the front, so it's counter-intuitive to place your most valuable block (the pilot seat) there. A single random missile might be the end of this awesome contraption after all the effort and components that went into making it. This is a very large ship, there is plenty of space in the back to blace the cockpit and control it via several cameras (so that you're not left with aiming in 3rd person, if one gets taken out)
Other than that I love the design. Great work!!
Partially updated, if you want to take her out for a spin. FYI, 3rd person camera isn't working right now, and the ship is now somewhat prone to breaking apart if you turn too quickly... Both issues are on my list to fix post-planets :P
(if you post it as a new ship you should put a link in the comments here so everyone that has commented will get the notification incase they had missed it)!!!!

@Aiden Corvas
The ship is kind of out of comission right now, due to some changes to physics behavior and scripting. I'll update it fairly soon, though.
I might make a MK2 that will include a projector on the large grid for repairs, but the large grid is so simple, there isn't too much point right now. The small grid does have a projector for this, however.
Anyway to sum up, I can't wait till I eventually get to go home and take this for a spin, and can not wait to see what you might come up with next. Kudos to you

I hope it serves you well :)

I'll have to think about it. I generally avoid using mods, as it limits who can use my creations. If I do make something modded, it won't be for a while, unfortunately. I have a huge list of things I want to make first :P
