The Story: Heirs to the Void
-------------------------------------------------
In a remote sector of the far reaches of the Deep Expanse...

The inhabitants of the planet Ah'Rhil'Ahm have re-awoken to the truth of their distant past; They are the descendants of the Marah'Ti, an ancient race that once took part in a war that spanned the entirety of the known void.

It was a war that they lost...

Only one of the thirteen tribes of the Aegis Tredecim, the Marah'Ti, like their brethren, were forced into Exodus before the unimaginable power of the Dark Ones that had engulfed their home worlds and threatened to rend the fabric of existence around them. It was unthinkable; the Aegis Tredecim whose protection had once offered solace to over a hundred galaxies had been broken and their union finally sundered. With no choice remaining, the survivors of the Aegis forces and the shattered remnants of the Heptarchy of the Inner Worlds became resigned to depart their home worlds and risk the uncertain future that was promised to them by that great, black unknown.

Days prior to the Exodus the members of the Aegis had met to discuss the future of their peoples. Their fears were confirmed by the sheer volume and frequency of the distress calls that continued to pour in from the Zarattian Rim Worlds; The Dark Ones had torn through their main defenses and would soon penetrate the Outer Veil. Once beyond it's protective shielding, nothing would stand between the eldritch void-spawn and the slaughter they would bring. Though hard-reached, it was unanimous among the council that the Inner Worlds had to be evacuated and that the best hope would be to flee into the Deep Expanse, into the furthest reaches of known space and beyond. The alternative was to stay and face an enemy more powerful than they had ever known; To bear witness to the total annihilation of their peoples and the end of the greatest civilizations the Universe had ever known. There was no hope in that.

In the least, the Deep Expanse would offer a bearing to follow and the promise of discovering what lay beyond the edges of the Known Systems; Who knew what mysteries lay hidden in the dark corners of the universe? Perhaps new allies that would fight alongside them against the suffocating tide of the Enemy? Or perhaps a new evil would be uncovered just as great as the one they fled...At least they agreed, it was certain, that all answers come in time to those who have the will to seek them.

If they were able to successfully flee their pursuers then perhaps one day in the future, however near or distant, when they had mustered the strength to fight again, they would return to the Inner Worlds and the horrors that would await them; Those terrible beings of inky blackness. The same beings that wrought total eradication wherever they went, slaughterers of the endless trillions...beings whose hunger was so great they consumed entire stars and grew more powerful with each passing day...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Are we alone out here or do you think the others made it as well? How long has it really been?"

"No one knows for sure brother, only that we've lost a lot of time and our strength is only just beginning to grow, after however many generations." He waved a hand through the air.

"So that's what the Re-Awakening was, our memories returning passed down through the generations? And if our strength is growing do you think we will be able beat them this time?"

"Don't worry about that for now brother. We haven't seen any sign of them just yet and you have more important things to concentrate on; like harmonizing your Spirit Seal so the next time you Reassemble you end up with all the right bits where they belong, eh?"

The younger of the brothers grinned. "The only reason I'll be Reassembling again will be to strengthen my Seal and reform into an even more powerful craft; maybe I'll Reassemble as a Hunter next time."

"Easy there, you've only just aligned your Seal to the strength of a Fighter."

"I'm a better pilot than you!"

Now it was the older brother's turn to grin.

"We'll have to see about that. We're on escort patrol duty again tonight and I've just uncovered the AUM to Reassemble bombard cannons. Now get some rest okay?" He winked at his brother.

"But how?!"

"Rest first brother, the Reds will be back tonight."

"Brother? But how...?"

The room went dark and a calm filled the air. Younger brother's question hung in the now still, silent room.

And they rested...for now.

What's Inside: Heirs to the Void includes 15 craft, 5 outposts, and an entirely new block palette tailored to the flavor of the Marah'Ti.

The Palette Includes:

6x New Ship Cannons
3x New Station/Dreadnought Turret Cannons
3x New Lasers
3x New Launchers (including the Firefly Drone Launcher you can see in just about every one of my Reassembly screenshots :D )
And other new blocks to complement the flavor of the Marah'Ti Warriors

(Note: While some of the weapons may appear similar to other Reassembly weapons I assure you they were modded from scratch with loving care. For those interested in the newest of "newness" I recommend checking out the launchers).

I hope you enjoy and feel free to leave comments!

@Murdershy Wow! I just re-read the series of comments below and noticed my incredibly hopeful prediction of releasing episode II within a few days of that comment...a MONTH ago haha

It turns out that balancing faction #2 was incredibly difficult but they've finally been uploaded to the Steam Workshop. However, as of yet the mod is still hidden as I need to add a bit of polish here and there...But within 3 days this time for sure, I swear! LOL

@Murdershy

Also I thought it was rather funny and was going to let you know...I could talk about all of the balancing concerns and updates for days so I had something like a 3,000 word reply to your comment with all of the deep-dive details included but Steam stopped me at 1,000 words. To be honest, it's probably for the best this way haha

Thanks again :D

@Murdershy

Sadly, no, that wasn't the intention. What I had intended was to make the Marah'Ti about 1.5x as powerful as the other factions in Reassembly but I obviously missed the mark (I was still young in the ways of Reassembly faction creation :S).

However, Recently I've been diligently at work on Heirs to the Void Ep. 2 and while playing "Faction 2" I've come across the same issues you described and have been working to get the Marahans dialed into where I had intended. To that end I should be releasing an update either concurrent with or just before the Heirs to the Void Ep. 2 release which should be in the next 3 days :D

Thanks for playing and thanks for your comment! I hope you'll hang in there for the update and let me know how you feel about it once you give it a go.

Happy Reassembling!

Interesting mod but it seems to need some balancing to me. Multiple heavily armed starbases defending every capture point and the small craft that one shot you make it impossible to play against them when starting as a new faction. Probably not as big a deal if you already have a fully upgraded 8000P ship and support so maybe that was the intention ?

Thanks ghostpanther! Stay tuned if you're interested, the mod portion to Heirs of the Void ep.2 is close to the "final testing" phase and when it comes out it should have another good bit of lore to go with it. Thanks again :D
