Type:
Single Player Mission (No mods or addons required to play)

Description:
(Version 1-05)
This is a sandbox style mission where the player must escape from an island where there's been an outbreak of a highly contagious rage-inducing virus, which turns those who have been infected into blood-thirsty, violent psychotics.

The mission begins with the player waking up in his holiday cottage with the radio on a nearby table broadcasting that the viral outbreak that was reported several days ago has gotten out of hand, and that many of the infected have now become violent lunatics. Deciding that waiting to die out in the sticks isn't exactly how they'd like to spend their last few hours on earth, the player must venture forth from their temporary abode and will need to make use of whatever weapons and equipment they find scattered around in buildings, vehicles and dead bodies in order to survive long enough to find a means of escaping the island.

Trying to stay alive is made even more challenging as the player will have to either evade or kill the crazed remnants of those that have been infected by the virus; as well as scattered groups of bandits and over-zealous AAF soldiers who would rather shoot first than risk being infected themselves. Thankfully the player isn't completely alone however, as there are still a handful of survivors and even a few remaining members of the Altis Police Force scattered around who are desperately trying to hold back the never ending hordes of the infected.

Features:
* 8 Random starting locations and random loot that spawns in almost all the buildings mean that you'll have a different experience each time you play.

* 4 Different ways to complete the mission, including 2 obvious and 2 relatively hidden methods of escape that only a few sharp eyed or resourceful players will find.

* Random Bandits and even armed civilians that are friendly to the player that spawn at certain locations and with random gear.

* Simple text based narration courtesy of IndeedPete's conversation system.

* Vehicles that have a random chance of spawning at certain locations, each with varying degrees of fuel remaining and damage done.

* Hordes of infected that will pursue you relentlessly for as long as they can see/sense you, with more spawning closer to villages and cities.

* The ability to sit down and rest to heal minor injuries (those that are less than 33%) slowly over time.

* While resting, the player can build a campfire which will automatically save their progress - be advised that even though this feature can be used multiple times, it comes with a 10 minute cool down timer.

* The infected can cripple/kill the player with several hits, and will damage and eventually destroy the player's vehicle if they managed to swarm around it and keep pounding it with their fists and rocks.

* Custom sounds and textures for a richer experience.

* Created to be vanilla Arma 3 friendly, no 3rd party mods or addons required.

Credits & Thanks:
B. Robertson (aka Capt.Robertson / Baraban) and the Sentinel Team - Mission design and testing.
Special Thanks To BobTom aka Craig and Corvobrok - Original Infected Scripts.
IndeedPete - Conversation System.
ZZEZ - Loadout Script.
BangaBob aka H8ermaker - Loot Script.
[STELS]Zealot - Random Vehicles Script.

Requirements:
None - This is for the stock version of Armed Assault 3 and as such it shouldn't require any mods/addons.

Changelog:
See the Change Notes section.

Known Issues:
- There's a few buildings in the map that the infected still struggle to navigate properly, although this is more of an issue with Arma 3's poor AI than mission design.

- In very rare instances one or two of the infected sometimes spawn without ambient sound effects, making them particularly dangerous if you're not paying attention.

- On some occasions when reverting to a previous save, or continuing an older game, the scripts and conversation system may take a few minutes to catch up again. This is due to the large size of the map and sheer amount of scripts in use and can't be helped.

- When building a campfire they will appear at the same altitude above ground level as the player's feet; which means that even though you can build them inside a house or on the top floor of an office building, if you're standing too close to the edge of a building or rock formation the campfire may end up floating in mid-air over the side.

+ There is another version of this mission type which was created for the 3rd party Esseker terrain which is heavily addon dependent but recommended for a richer experience. Both Chernarus and Bornholm Outbreak missions are undergoing closed alpha testing at the moment and may eventually be released to the public if there's enough interest. Minor changes need to be done to the story and units encountered as both terrain settings are very different.

I'll have to take another look at them all again at some point, the Ravage one will definitely need tweaking as I'm sure there will have been a few changes since I last played it..... Which I think might have been something like 3 or maybe even 4 years ago now.

I take back what I said about Sentinel Outbreak II ravage edition as it does still work. But man are the infected dangerous.

I found the tanker and parked it near the boat but it didn't refuel. However when I sat in the boat's passenger seat the refuelling started. So its still playable after all these years.:steamhappy:

I just thought I'd give it another go to see if it still worked and so far I haven't had a single issue which is great. I took a swim for laughs really as I've had a hard time finding the tanker truck. Sentinel Outbreak II ravage edition was one of my favourite ravage missions but sadly wasn't working the last couple of times I tried it. Probably due to ravage and game updates. Thanks for the reply.

I'm actually surprised anyone is still playing this, especially as it's well over 5 years old now and using scripts that have more than likely been broken by one of the many Arma 3 patches and updates since initial release.

The versions I released that were made to be used with the Ravage mod on the BIS Forums and Armaholic are vastly superior. Unfortunately Steam doesn't like me posting links to other sites here, but I'm sure you can find them if you look hard enough.

Yes, the sharks only spawn within certain areas and are really just to stop people cheesing the mission by jumping into the sea and swimming across to the evac point as soon as the game starts.
The only way to stop them from attacking is to be inside a vehicle.... *hint* any vehicle will do.

Yep, there's sharks in the ocean OK. :steamfacepalm:

There's several different ways of getting to the island safely.
The first is to find the boat at one of the evac points and refuel it using a tanker that spawns randomly at one of the gas stations.
The second is to steal either the helicopter that randomly spawns at one of the military bases, or one of the nearby APC's (They're amphibious).
Or you could go for the semi-hidden method, which is to find some Scuba gear near the western shore opposite that vessel in the ocean, swim over to it then dive down deep to find the mini-sub that was left down there when the outbreak started. :)

Okay, I'll bite (harhar). How do I get to the evac point? I searched every site within reasonable distance for air or water transportation, unsuccessfully. I went to the peninsula SE of the AAC airfield, the closest point to the evac island, and swam (it seemed far away enough from the shark warnings) and was already 90% of the way there (like, 50m to go) when I got killed by a shark.

Please download this from the link in the description above, there seems to be a problem with this not showing up for people who subscribe to it via the steam workshop, no idea why though as the manual installation works fine.
