Apex Aerospace's FB-103 has recently entered evaluation testing with the Free Citizens' Republic Navy and is slated to enter service in 2213.

The YFB-103 program came from the recognition that the Navy needed a heavy long-range strike fighter capable of carrying anti-ship torpedoes to give the new carrier-centric fleet the striking power it needs. However, long range patrols often mean being without decent fighter escort coverage so the procurement requirements also included dogfighting.

Apex Aerospace's design beat out all its competitors with the Iroquoi's balance of durability, firepower and maneuvrability. The main striking power of the FB-103 is a pair of AIM-14 Jackhammer torpedoes. These "beam riding" torpedoes are guided to its target over long ranges via a targeting camera. The pilot simply points the camera at the target and so long as he/she keeps the crosshairs on it, the torpedo will home in.

To further augment this hitting power, the fighter also packs a wake bomb launcher that is the main anti-capital ship weapon of the B-111 Mohawk. For dogfighting and straffing runs, the Iroquoi has a deadly array of autocannons and rocket launchers, all of which can fire at once.

Despite its imposing size, it can be carried on the Navy's newest fleet carriers such as the Independence class.

The FB-103 is also environement agnostic, capable of trans-atmospheric and space flight with little changes in performance.
