Description
Never to be outdone by Imperial Engineers, the Dawi of Karaz Ankor have devoted a number of their most senior engineers to develop a handheld explosive payload system similar to the Empire's "grenade launcher". While the dwarves did manage to pack more incendiary material into their ammunition, the final prototype ended up being far more bulky than the original model. Which, while not a good fit for Thunderers regiments, is well suited for the Irondrake corp.

Notes from the Creator:

These are lore-friendly units, though the weapon itself is fabricated (though logical).

Don't be fooled by the relativily low damage score shown. The Dawi have been perfecting black powder for centuries before the Empire ever got a hold of it, and as a result, they were able to create a bomb that explodes with a 25% larger blast radius. This is a huge difference for packed infantry, though not as big a deal for fast moving cavalry or monstrous units. These units really shine in particular against low armor targets.

I created this unit more for fun than anything else. Although posessing a longer range than standard Irondrakes, the flamethrower variant will overall be more effective at handling packed infantry quickly at close range. Though the aforementioned range does allow more versatility for these units to engage enemy missile troops, you will likely need them near the front line in order to do so. The one place where this unit appears to outperform the standard flamethrower is firing over a line of friendly troops. While it is by no means safe (see above mentioned blast radius), the Irondrakes seem fairly adept at landing grenades in packed enemy ranks and avoiding most friendly fire.

Plus, it is really, really cool to watch orcish lines explode.

Balance
- Longer range and large splash radius, but less damage per shot than a standard flamethrower. In addition, the bulky nature of the Grenadier gun makes this Irondrake unit slightly slower, and reduces it's turning speed. This combined with a slightly smaller firing arc makes the Grenadier great for shooting in one direction, but not very adept at repositioning to address fast moving troops such as cavalry.

Compatibility
- No known issues so far.

Art
- Thumbnaill artwork belongs to CA/GW. Unit tile artwork is a composite I made (and modified, badly) using some CA/GW properties, which I do not own.

Good work, man! But what parameter changes firing arc height? I see only max_elevation and muzzle_velocity, but its almost inaffective with dwarf grenades...

Fully agree - you need to take the full battlefield meta into account. Its a good variation on Irondrakes, thumbs up!

You can say the same thing about the Irondrake flamethrowers. These units don't perform as well against armorerd targets unless used en-masse, and they are singificantly less effective against cavalry. Both areas where the cannon excel.

Traditionally though, dwarven artillery is a little underpowered anyway imo.

Ultimately, it is your choice whether or not to use the unit. Personally, I prefer my Slayer Riveters for most engagements since they are giant-killers. Dwarves, particularly using Irondrake flamers, have never had a major problem with massed infantry. These guys are just fun ;)

good job making it bu having units like this is just ridiculous, no need for the cannon now
