Unless BOTH trading partners own a harbor/dock the rivers/seas are also a barrier for trading even if two neighbors share borders.
And there must be a direct uninterrupted line of passage (over land or water if both got harbor) between your CAPITAL city and the potential trade partners capital city.
sometime its impossible to trade with direct neighbors. no matter if they love you or not.
like Middelland and Empire - only the reik river separates both but you cant negotiate a trade agreement because "no direct rout to you capital".
this make no sense for me because they share a border.
I think you can get a relation bonus with Empire provinces through a mod but I don't believe that's necessary...
i wonder that i'm playing as Empire (vanilla) i'm not able to trade with my neighbors like middleland, etc. - make no sence for me. or?
maybe there is a way the solve this with a mod? that would be great.
