Gameplay Tweaks

Description
This mod is a (previously) up-to-date version of an old mod called "Gameplay Improvements" by "Dr.Med.Hätzlon" and therefore *not entirely my work*. The credit for both the balance changes and much of the code goes to him - I updated the mod and made a few changes, but this is still mostly his work. His version of the mod can be found here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=697504124

However, his mod stopped working due to the 1.5 update - and hadn't been properly updated for 1.4 - I made a personal version so that I could continue to play with it, which I am sharing. However, I will likely not maintain this mod unless I decide to play during a given update, but as I have listed the exact changes I made, you can make then yourself to up-to-date stelaris files.

This mod contains most of the changes present in Gameplay Improvments that could be easily/effectively moved to the 1.5 update - the changes regarding pops and factions were broken or made irrelevant by the changes in pop ethics and the idividualism/collectivism changes.

Note that as the majority of the changes this mod makes is to the "defines" file, it requires the 1.5.1 update to correctly implement any of the changes under the Defines section of the changelist below.

As such, the current changelist is:

Buildings:
Powerplants now add energy capacity starting at tier 2, at 5, 10, 15, and 20 for tier 2, 3, 4, and 5 respectively.
Betharian stone powerplants produce 12 energy (up from 10) to reflect the increase in tiered production in the original mod.
Mineral Silos have had their adjacency bonus changed to +1, +2, and +3 for tiers 1, 2, and 3 respectievly.

Defines Folder:
Decrases leader pool lead time from 10 years to 5 years (increases leader candidate cycling speed)

Decreases truce length from 10 years to 5 years.
Decreases Debris research time from 90 days to 60 days.
Increases Spaceport naval capacity from (2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15) to (3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 15) at the respective tiers.

Decreases cost for removing a system from a sector for 25 to 15

Increases maximum trade deal length from 30 years to 50 years.

Warscore changes removed due to crash reports from users.

Decreases tech cost multiplier from new planets from 10% to 2.5%
Decreases tech cost multiplier from new pops from 1% to .8%, and increases the penalty-free number of pops from 10 to 15.

Decreases Unity cost per planet from 25% to 12% - While this change is 1.5/Utopia specific and therefore not in the original mod, I feel it is in the spirit of the mod given the similar change to tech costs.

Edicts:
Buffed edicts by (generally) doubling their effects - the original author felt they "were to weak in lategame and you most likely won't have enough influence to spam them in early game", with which I agree.

@Peter34 It might be if I decide to play, but given the changes in the update, I don't know if these tweaks are still necessary, or if they provide the same effects. If you've been playing you can take the changes I listed above and edit the stelaris text files in the same way if you want, though.

Will this mod be updated for 1.8.*?

After loading a save and testing I no longer get a crash when attempting to declare war, so it seems that fixed the problem.

Thanks for updating! Just to clarify, I haven't declared any wars. My crashes happens in a way such that I suspect that it is when an AI polity declares war on another AI. It is unlikely that any have declared war on *me*, since I'm on good terms with my neighbours.

But I'll try this newer version, with 1.5.1 non-beta, and report back.

@Hellfire Knight, @Peter34 I think I have now removed the war demands section of the mod. This should hopefully fix your crash issues, please let me know if the issue persists - I don't seem to be getting it for some reason.

Unsubscribing from the mod fixed my problem with crashing when trying to declare war so this mod was definitely causing it somehow.

After about 15 years I started getting random crashes and if I went to the declare war option in the diplomacy screen the game would instantly crash on me. I guess the random crashes were from AI races trying to declare on others. Wasn't sure what was causing it but since other people here are commenting on it I assume this mod was doing it.

Please try removing the war demands part of your mod. I keep getting crashes, and reverying to a save from 4-5 months before the crash just postpones the problem, the crash will still happen 6-18 months later, so it's kinda like playing Edge of Tomorrow, having to re-do the same things again and again.

This postponing the crash thing makes me suspect that it is indeed related to war decs somehow, even though they're not war decs on me, because I've bought Non-Aggression with everyone I've met. So it must be one AI war deccing another.

Governing ethics are militarist, materialist, xenophobe

- I'll try a new game later with this mod only to see if the issue persists

@Hun Zolka, what ethics are you? that may be what's causing the CTD. If the issue persists, I'll just remove the war demands sections of the mod.
