Description

The Egg Heavy Armor Decoy is currently one of five standard printable items for the Osprey, a mobile mining and production platform intended for a highly immersive survival experience that is convenient, practical, versatile, and multiplayer compatible.

Before use, load this blueprint into OSPREY Printer Projector 3 (only necessary on first use).

To Launch from the OSPREY (all buttons in Tab 2 of main flight seat):
1. Use Button 2 to select this blueprint
2. Press 7 to Print
3. Press 9 to Deploy

Related Blueprints:
Osprey - Mother Ship
Finch - Utility Ship Combo Pack.
Osprey Printables:
Feather - Relay/Spy Satellite
Egg - Light Armor Decoy
Talon - Kinetic Gravity Torpedo
Beak - Stone Filled Gravity Torpedo

The Heavy Armor Decoy is exactly what it sounds like - two decoy blocks encased in heavy armor. They are heavier on component cost then the light armor variant linked above, but will last longer in a fire fight. They are intended to be disposable and dispensed on the fly, to get you out of unwanted NPC encounters. You can also pre-weld them, deploy them, then swing around and lock them to your landing gear - unlocking to deploy as needed. They can be tossed with the ship's momentum to draw fire away from torpedoes, such as the devastating OSPREY: Beak (link), which is capable of penetrating over 100 consecutive layers of heavy armor - more than enough to bust any stationary target you can find.

Should you break the printer by attempting to toss one of these - don't fear. The printer assembly is more or less self repairing, and unless you went completely hog wild, you should only have minor touch ups to do by hand.

To use this blueprint, simply load this blueprint into the Projector named OSPREY Printer Projector 3, and the Easy Automation scripting on the Osprey will take care of the rest. Your blueprint will be automatically aligned for a proper weld, and the required components will be conveniently displayed on the Osprey's main display, using the script linked below (which comes pre-installed and configured on the Osprey). If you have the components you need, you can weld up and launch with the touch of a hotkey.

Since decoys do not require power to function, there is no battery or reactor included. This keeps the component cost down, and for better or worse, means that they will eventually be cleaned up by most dedicated servers after being detached.

This printable blueprint is only one of many features included on the Osprey. It was a huge labor of love for me (over 250 hours, months of work), and I hope you will give a visit to the main workshop page.

  • Blueprint Component Requirements Script - the-phil
The author was incredibly responsive when asked to update this script. The fact that this thing is under 500 subscribers is an absolute travesty. Go download it right now. Thanks the-phil!
Thank you also to Heisenboy, who wrote the script that was later forked into this one.
  • Easy Automation V2.0 - Coren
Coren deserves piles of respect for this script. I have no coding background and could not have have completed this project without his script. He is above and beyond with responding to questions, and is a pillar of the community. Thanks Coren!

I sincerely hope you will visit the main Osprey workshop page, and please feel free to leave a rating or comment. I hope you enjoy these builds, and thank much for visiting!
