-Slightly increased ship speed when using the ship_speed_1,2,3 abiliites (row harder for 10,20,30 strokes), this was done to make these abilities noticable, and to help ships escape, evade, or ram better.

Change (v10):

-Adjusted ship acceleration speeds in order to further reduce the effect where ships would ram each other, then stop, then continue to ram each other again from a stopped position for massive damage. You can still do this, but damaged is now reduced in this case because the heavier ships will not have enough distance/time to gain full speed in such close proximity. This makes it better to board the enemy, or continue to nudge him repeatedly, or disengage and move for another attack run, building up speed for full ramming power.

For the most part, the approach taken now is ship acceleration is now 1/2 the deceleration speed, because this approach makes more sense rather than some seemingly randomized values that were there originally (the original acceleration/deceleration values from the standard game were mostly identical or had strange comparison relationships).

-Fixed a problem where infantry would not disembark from ships.

NOTE TO SELF:

Ships all had a crawl_speed of 0 in the past, but in the "Seasons and Wonders" update, for some reason CA uses this speed for the disembarking of soldiers from ships. With it set at the original "0", it meant that nothing would disembark. This was fixed by duplicating the normal ship speed in this column.

Changes (v6):

-Cut ship turn speed/rate in half. This was done because ships could turn on a dime before, which wasn't very realistic. Now the turn arc is more realistic, and slower, again to control some of the gamey "ship mosh pit" behavior when everything can turn and nudge/ram each other in close quarters.

-Further tweaks to ship acceleration and deceleration speeds (now 1/4th original values). This was done because after some extensive play, it is deemed that the ships stop and gain speed too quickly, which results in gamey situations where you just keep rapidly ramming each other again and again from the stopped position. Ships can still do this, but it won't be with as much damage as before (it is still better to use another ship to move in and ram from a distance - allowing it to gain speed for a full impact - or withdraw the ship that is in close quarters for another ramming pass.
