Small update fixing some stuff and adding three new weapons.

----Fixes----

Fixed texture on the steel forged staff making it much darker, sometimes the textures I make dont transfer as they look in to the game, it happens easily fixed, hopefully it will be black now and not an off grey.

Fixed the scales asset not spawning and instead spawning the shelf with gold inset, hope you enjoy the lovely decoration.

Fixed crude blade of desolation position when held, so now it isnt held at a weird angle.


----Added----

Three new weapons.

Deathless sword of the king - Dwarven beast of a sword that uses the axe moveset. (Inspired by Thorin oakenshields sword, but also using other Dwarven weapon style ideas to make it my own)

Chaos Blades - Found in the chaos feat (shock) these use the dagger moveset, rough forged steel screwed in to a bone and held by leather.

Ocrist - I love this sword that Thorin finds in the troll cave, (Can you tell iv been watching the hobbit?? ) I have I kept the Falcata sword style but I instead added some Elvish words to the blade which read "A star shall shine on the hour of our meeting ? Elen sila lumenn omentilmo"

--Armours added---

I have not made a feat for armours yet as right now there is no point, but they are unlocked with the decor feat.

The 2 items I have added are.

Plague Headress and the Lorrel.

They are classed as light armours but in reality they give nothing to you, id reccommend using them with fashionista as I know some of you already do that anyway.

Armours will start coming in to the game as and when I make them but it is a lengthy process making armours so bare with me as I plan on making a few light, medium and heavy sets for the races.

Massive Update has happened over the weekend, and wow what a weekend it has been.

Long and tired but I have done something I have been thinking about for a while.

Now a small disclaimer - Item numbers have changed, the whole mod has gone through vigourous slimming down of all the old junk that didnt need to be in the mod, so some numbers got pushed up, you may have to remake the decors from this mod again, if you have lost weapons which most likely you will do, talk to your admins they may give you a weapon for your troubles, if not then happy hunting!

So the update.

It was getting very hard to balance all of the elements, one update an element would be the meta, the next update it would be another, it was getting out of hand and having to design, make and import all of the weapons for each element well, it was junking up the mod really.

I have spoken with the 4 servers I know that run the mod, and also spoken with those in the mod discord and heres the outcome of that.

Originally this mod was Lore items and Roleplay before it was Darkness Within.

The name has been brought back, as you can see, so do not worry, you havent gained a mod randomly.

So I have always loved the fantasy races, their weapons and decors are amazing looking and thats the stuff I like to create.

Gone are the well in your face over the top weapons, these weapons are simple in design but very beautiful as well as deadly and functional.

So the mod is Lore items and Roleplay, as you've guessed the lore part is more fantasy lore, if you dont have elves, dwarves etc on your server do not worry, its just a name really so if your players like elvish style weapons they can get them from that specific feat, hopefully that makes sense.

Now the next part of the mod AND Roleplay, this is the biggest part of the mod, the weapons are designed so you can use them in roleplay and iv seen players use my weapons in roleplay and it brings a smile to my face knowing all my work is being used, but its not just weapons, this mod has roughly 29 decorations and its going up and up, these decors can be anything from dead trees with skulls hanging from them to get that sweet creepy look around your home, or if you have a tavern get a bowl of apples out or even a cheeseboard, the list goes on and on and its always expanding as im given new and amazing ideas for decors to bring in.

I will also be starting to work on armours, especially for females that actually cover them up and protect them as thats quite an annoyance for a lot of players iv heard, same with dresses too, I will be making dresses so your females actually have clothes to wear, Give me time though, clothing is a pain but it will come.

The feats that are in are

Decors (you need this to unlock the other feats)

Chaos - Think orcs, necromancers, the bad guys really.
Elves - wood elves and high elves have been my main target here, but I will be adding more weapons in for dark elves :D
Dwarves - Need I say anymore? You will get big chunky fierce axes and hammers with this feat, hell even if you dont use them you will still look good with that on your back :P
Wizards - With wizards you will find it is just 3 staves right now, this will be expanded upon giving them more items and some minor spells, I dont really want to dive in to the whole magic, there are enough people who do it and they do it well, I will add some things but they wont be crazy attack spells, more like fire torch magic etc.

Each race has specific items they need to get to craft the weapons, it wont be easy, you're getting vanilla legendary statted weapons that you can actually craft, dont worry im not going to have you making something to make something to makesomething, its simply go get these few items come back and you can craft it in the advanced blacksmith bench, though these items do require you to do dungeons and farm a little.

The weapons will still give the weilder race specific bonus's but you wont be having a crazy dubuff on your opponent (other than vanilla weapon debuffs) and the weapons have 6000 health so you can apply a mod to them and still have decent durability.
This avoids meta, a headache for me (and partial earache) and puts fighting down to pure skill.

Update time, got a few things for you on this update.


---Armour Fixes----

Those using the fire element feat will be happy to know you can now craft the fire imbued armour for your female characters, they are very cheap (only one light padding per item, except for boots and bracers which is 2 light padding) but until I make more armours I wont be giving these any worthwhile stats or buffs, armour *for now* I intend to be used for aesthetics only and used with fashionista.

---Shield Fixes---

I have 2 shields in the game so far, ICEWALL and SHIELD OF ARKANIA.

Because they used the same made blueprint as their respective element weapon you wouldn't gain the buffs from both the shield and the weapon, this is now fixed, I will be working on some more shields in the future for the other elements do not worry :D

----Weapon fixes----

2h wolfblade sword doesn't have an old piece of mesh attached to it anymore sorry for missing that when importing the fbx model.


----NEW ITEMS----

Quill set - decorate your workspace with the beautiful ink and quill set.

Sake bottle decoration (only decor, though I may add Sake as a drink later down the line)

( These next two items are my first food decor items I have made you cannot eat them, they are solely for deco and rp!, please dont try eating them you will hurt your teeth :P )

Cheeseboard - decorate your kitchens with this lovely little piece, a welcome at any party, gathering or just for yourself while you sit by a crackling fire.

Bowl of apples - Bright and colourful decoration for your home, plus you can feel good about having fruit in your home even though you will never eat it... no? just me? :P

---New weapon----

Earth Feat now has its very own 2H sword - I give to you a weapon based off of Anduril "The flame of the West" from LOTR, as a massive fan I just had to make this at some point, I already brought the Uruk hai sword in (Crude blade of desolation, Dark feat) and after watching the trilogy these past couple of days I just couldnt resist making it! those of you who use the Earth feat hope you enjoy this one, I understand Anduril is a long sword, but for obvious reasons I have had to make Anduril a little thicker and greatsword like, but the style is there :)

1H Spear made for Triggz, It is admin spawnable so please contact an admin when you're on.

Thank you for supporting the HU server and for giving me this piece to make, I was quite worried about poly count when you told me what you wanted, but somehow I managed to pull it off!

So its that time again, I didnt want to update so early because I wanted to add more decor items in to the game but Funcom has forced my hand as they removed some items my mod uses like the different weapon handles for example, so now weapons will be craftable again!

----Textures----

Bloodlust has been given new textures, the rust I made for the old model for some reason appeared white in game this has now been fixed.

---New Weapons----

I have replaced the old crude blade of desolation (uruk hai sword) it is now vastly improved poly wise and texture wise hope you enjoy this new model!

Replaced the Thunder and lightning protectors of the pack model from dual sword to a 2h sword and is now craftable in the forest feat, the old model was huge poly wish now it is less than 3k polys but uses a high poly normal map to make it stand out, I decided to go with a 2h sword for the new model as the Forest feat did not have a greatsword until now, new name for the weapon is Wolfblade.

Patreon Weapon - Aurora's dual swords have been completed and is now admin spawnable, thank you for your Patreon on the HU server hope you enjoy your custom model.

---New Decor Items---

Oil barrel - I got tired of putting oil in chests so I made an actual barrel for oil, though you can store other items in there, even, your enemies :D

Weighing scales.

Candle with candle holder.

Mystics Trunk - this chest has a capacity of 500!

Shelf with gold inlay

A new bed.

A new circular red rug

Mystics Orb ( I plan on making this dyeable in the future so you can pick the colour of the orb, but right now it is one colour, please bare with me as it can be tricky to implement :)

Update time.

For this update I have removed some very big assets, here's what has been removed.

The teepee.
Obsidian tankard
A bed
Jewelled Chalice
The human arbor

These assets although looking very simplistic in design, I believe I designed these in a way that wasnt game friendly, they were incredibly large the teepee alone was 46,000 verts, the human arbor was well over 100,000 so they had to go, I can do better now and they served their purpose.
I will recreate them in time they will be built better, look better and perform better.

--- Texture changes---

These weapons as you know from the last update have been worked on texturewise well in my new workflow I have added them under one texture, this means instead of using X amount of maps to get the desired look they now all use 5, this will give the same great looking textures without taking up even more space, increasing performance and reducing the size of the mod, something every admin likes to hear :D

I have also updated the textures on the damned tree, I considered getting rid of it but its vert count is low enough for me to be happy with.

Do not worry im not taking all the cool stuff away, it will be brought back better. But for now I has a gift for you all :D

Because Halloween is closing in I thought instead of staring at weapons all day long I would take a little break and make some spoooooky assets to decorate your home with.

I give you BOO! a cute little kitty cat that hides inside a glowing red pumpkin.
A coffin sealed so whatever is inside cannot escaaaaaape.
A headstone (gravestone1)
A monument (gravestone2)
A chest tomb (gravestone3)

These are all crafted in the artisans workbench when you have the darkness decors feat available at level 10.

There will be more coming, so let me know what other cool and creeeeeepy decors you want for Halloween :D

Trident of the sea should now appear on your back when you put away the weapon.

I have modified the scorched and the icecore blueprints a little, just to see if I can reduce the time they run for as they may be taking a little bit too much health (This will be getting tweaked further after I run some tests on some "willing participants" :D )

Lowered the ap of vicious breeze from 16 - 8 as you can craft a lot of them and they are very vicious, maybe a little bit too much, but if you have anything to report on them if they're below standard let me know, they still have good damage values for the weapon type.

For those that are interested how much the mod has been reduced in this update here is the size of it before
802,097Kb and this is the size after this update 760,362

I will add more Halloween decors, if there is any specific feel free to ask me in the mod discord under suggestions.

I will also be working on the weapons for the Patrons of the HU server so they can have them.

Changes to blueprints and crafting of DW weapons. ( Thanks to Reica and Aeliana of the HU server for the imput on DW weapon crafting)

I know we had an update yesterday but something just need to change I do apologise for that but hopefully this will be a welcomed update for many.

So after hearing about the crazy grind for the weapons and also trying it for myself and looking at the numbers I do agree that was a bit much, I have gone over the recipe tables and made some adjustments.

witchfire oil needed 100 oil + 20 witchfire powder, it now requires 30 oil + 3 witchfire powder for 1

Tempered steel needed 5 witchfire oil + 50 hardened steel and 50 star metal bars + 20 alchemical base, this has now been changed to 1 witchfire oil + 25 hardened steel and 25 star metal bars to make 1

weapons needed 10 tempered steel + a corrosponding handle and 2 Dragon powder this has now been changed to 10 tempered steel + corrosponding handle + ForgeFire.

The reason I wanted to add in ForgeFire was to show the incredible amount of heat the weapons are put under with the tempered steel ingots being fused together this gives a reason behind their strong durability, even if you put a master weapon fitting on the weapons they will have around 3k durability which makes it well worth it.
To make ForgeFire you need 1 Dragonpowder + 1 volatile gland and thats made in the DW workbench.

If you're playing on the isle of siptah map the best way to get witchfire powder is farm the glowing wights, it will still take some time and will still be dangerous but now it is no longer impossible to get the weapons, just takes a little farming rather than all of your time being taken up on it.

---- Blueprints----

Thanks to Reica on the HU server for pointing out the blueprints only gave +4 to an attribute when most legendaries give +5

What I have done here is is make the attribute points give +5 and iv also hidded the buff from the UI, I dont know about you but I like a clean UI, you will still get the 2 +5 attribute buffs they just wont be there on your screen when you have the weapon equipped.

Darkness Within weapons may not be the strongest, but with their stats, their durability, there +5 to 2 attribute bonuses they give so you can work in to your build they are hopefully competetive with other weapons out there.

Next update will be more changes to existing weapons, this could be retopologising, re-texturing or making a whole new model so bare in mind things will change, I need to do this as I want amazing looking models for those who use the mod, be that for combat or rp.

Update time.

So with this update there are a few changes.

Darkness withins crafting bench now takes 10 dragonfire powder instead of 20... I do admit it was quite a lot, weapons requirement for dragonfire powder has been reduced from 5 to 2.
I have reduced the amount of witchfire powder needed to make the oil but not by a lot, those who still have the recipe can use that for rp trades, but now its actually possible to farm it from the wights so long as the rng gods are with you.

5 weapons have been remade from the ground up these weapons are.

Bloodlust

Champions greatsword ( now named Holy Redemption)

Crimson Fury ( Now named Winds Song)

Fires Calling

and finally The Jewelled sword.

If you have had these weapons already they may dissapear that is out of my hands, though if you contact an admin on your server im sure they will be more than understanding and replace the weapon.

The reason for these changes are well, basically iv gotten better at designing weapons and I have a whole new workflow thats much easier for me and working really well.
Before the weapons were quite large files 9-15k which is quite large, the game can run it obviously but it can affect performance and lead to an increased file size, these 5 new weapons are all below 3k verts and imo look better, they have had good reviews from people in the HU server so im happy with that as they always give constructive critism whether I like it or not xD <3

What about the other weapons as theres more than 5 in the mod?

Good question have a cookie while I explain, so this update needed to happen for the armour pen stats that I royally screwed up and the crazy grind for the weapons and workbench costs, there are more than 5 weapons in the mod, but while they were ready and textured I thought it was best to replace their old models now.
I will still continue on replacing every weapon, please also be aware that some weapons will be completely and permanently removed as it may be more work to change a model and sometimes it is actually easier to just make a new one from scratch.

I did a big whoopsie with the armour pen of a lot of weapons, so no more 2k+ armour pen O.o
this has now been fixed.

Next update will be more changes to existing weapons, this could be retopologising, re-texturing or making a whole new model so bare in mind things will change, I need to do this as I want amazing looking models for those who use the mod, be that for combat or rp.

Patch fix.

Added a prerequisite for Darkness Decors (my bad and thanks to those on the HU server for pointing this out to me)
which means you will now be able to unlock that first feat leading on to the elements feats once you reach level 60 .

Tempered Steel now requires star metal as well as hardened steel bars to make (think of it like stacking and layering the metals)

I understand the procedure takes time, but as with any real weaponsmithing it does take time, a lot of it and this is how im representing that, its a lot of getting the best materials and making sure everything is done properly and this in itself takes time, but hopefully you will think the weapons are worth the wait :D

Next update (provided there isnt a patch needed after this) I will be bringing some new decorations in to the mod, bringing decors for specific elements and I will be adding LANCES to each element also, imr eally hyped to get designing my very lances so I hope you look forward to that too.

Quick update referencing how the weapons are made.

I know everyone has been hit with a lot of mod updates because of the Siptah update Thank you for your support of Darkness within, and all of the other mods, as you can imagine we have all been working really hard toupdate and continue our projects so you get to keep the things you love.

Now on to what this update is for.

I believe this update will be quite welcomed, I made weapon crafting BUT only if you had a very specific legendary weapon, some of these weapons were quite hard to get and made even hard on Siptah, after playing on the HU server getting legendaries were trickier than I thought they would be, top that off with having a very specific legendary weapon to craft a specific DW weapon made it near impossible.

Here is what I have done so you can craft your own DW legendary weapons, please bare in mind these weapons are all statted to a specific vanilla legendary, they do give you 2 attribute bonuses a debuff to any unfortunate player you use them on and they have a decent amount of durability, making these weapons well worth it after you reach level 60, so please bare in mind I needed to come up with a way to make you work for them.

I have made 2 new items you will need to get to forge these weapons the first being Witchfire Oil, this oil is a fusion of oil and witchfire powder... shocking I didnt see that coming >.>
Basically the idea behind this was you wanted to be using a high quality oil on the metal you are working with which makes the metal harder and more durable withstanding the rigours of the exiled lands (hence why the durability is better than vanilla legendaries)

Second item is Tempered Steel, this steel is made up of layers and layers of already hardened steel making it even stronger to withstand the stresses put on the metal during the smelting phase.

Thought of this all by myself *gives self a cookie*

As im sure you can understand trying to work out how to implement things, making the items worth the grind but then working out how much is too much and too little etc, theres always room for improvement and I may in the future work on this further to streamline it better, make it harder or so to craft the weapons, time will tell but I will let you know in an update before I make any changes, I do like how this better than just loading everything on to the admins to work out how they will implement, it gives them more time to enjoy the server they play on and they can focus their attention on other things such as events.

I am sorry I havnt added anything new to this update but I really wanted to fix this as players are getting to decent levels now after 4 days of the Siptah update and I would like them to enjoy the things I make for you all.

SIPTAH UPDATE.

With the Siptah update many new changes have happened to Darkness Within.

The elements are staying but I realise it was quite a lot of work for server admins to implement it all.
I have worked very closely with the admins and spoken to the amazing community on the HU Unconquered server, so here is the outcome.

There is now only one crafting bench and this is craftable by the players only at level 60.
right now it costs 200 hardened brick and 50 dragonpowder to make.

In order for the players to craft a weapon they must choose a feat and then access the bench to see what they need.
all weapons need 10 dragon powder + a specific legendary weapon.

I chose this option because it will get players out and about when they go to find their weapon of choice, with this in mind I play on an rp server so people could potentially run in to each other, but it can also have other rp effects such as trading various elemental weapons that others cannot get or trading legendary weapons other find but do not want / need but know others will need them.

All weapons have been adjusted to the particular legendary weapon stats needed to make it, obviously my weapons will also give 2 attribute buffs + a debuff to your opponent so players can work it in to their builds therefore expanding on that legendary weapon making it worth while for players to get them.

Textures have been updated also, aboslutely love the look of *Trident of the sea* now I will be aiming for this weapon even if for a show piece.

two weapons have been removed, piercing fury and trident of atlantis.

elemental workbench and holy workbench removed also.

All armours + decorations are now availble from level 10 and the first feat costing 1 point ( except from fire imbued armour, I am working on speciffic imbued clothing for each element, male and female this will probably happen next update, bringing in more decors)

I will most likely be adding more recipes for the weapons in the future, but for now I would like to see what new things Siptah offers and so I can incorporate the new items in to the mod recipes :D

Corruption debuff should now work

Poison debuff should now be cureable

Fire element weapons will now give str + agi buffs instead of survival

Forest element will now give Grit + 2 Survival buffs

Various materials updated and some cleaning up of old files which has further reduced the size of the mod.
