Small edit for the Austronesia 3 Update

(to make Solomon Islands the British name of the islands)

Update: 16 Jan @ 12:50am

Austronesia Update 3-

Several islands now have no culture, including the Cocos islands, Chagos Archipelago, Bourbon/Reunion, Mauritius, & the Seychelles. When owned by Arabs (or the Maldives) these will have one set of names, when owned by Malay or Pacific cultures they will have another.

Christmas Island, Leeward Hawai'i, & Midway appears with their Austronesian names due the culture there, if you own these as British cultures the names of these and other islands (like the Marshall Islands, New Caledonia, Easter Island, Cocos Island, Society Islands, Solomon Islands, New Britain, etc. will switch to these English names).

Cocos goes by Mony as it was first recorded, given the etymology is unknown I have assumed it may be a regional name and included the word island infront in the Malay name.

Island names changed for Malay & Pacific culture groups when owned

If you're curious how I came to certain names that are a bit more unusual I can explain-

I named New Britain- Tolai Pia meaning the Land/Place of the Tolai
Futa Fera is Lua for one's home country or island
The Malagasy names for the islands around them I have constructed as well
Nosy means Island or Islands (Anen means Island in Marshallese & Ane means Island), Pulu is a term for island(s) in Malay)

Pulu Tumbang- Central/Middle Island
Pulu Niuy- Coconut Island
Ane Epoon- Named for Ebon, which was a name the Marshall Islands went by, but this name is in Marshallese
Nosy Riandrano- Waterfall Island (Mauritius) named for it's famous "underwaterfall"
Nosy Tendrombohitra Afo- Mountain of Fire Island named for the volcanic activity this island boasts
Nosy Andafiavaratra- Northern Islands

Anen Kio (Wake) is actually the official Marshallese name

I also added a few more Polynesian names to the pool of names

Zhang Update

Added a large number of Zhang names, although many are spelled in the Chinese form, some are spelled in Zhang stylisation

Added new Hlai culture to the same group, present in one province, and animist. Their surnames are unique, but due to a lack of information on Hlai names, I reused the newly edited Zhang names for men and women, with one added female name I was able to find.

Made Merina graphically Polynesian

Added some new names to the Melanesian pool

Austronesia Update 2-

New Micronesian Culture in several islands
Wake is now Micronesian, but with 0 pops

New Formosan Culture in Taiwan

1 province in Papua has been switched to Moluccan, reflecting the Austronesians who are the majority there, closest linguistically to Moluccans of the groups in-game

The Bismarck Archipelago is now Melanesian culture

New Solomon (representing the non-Austronesian languages of the Solomon Islands) culture not added to map yet, but playable with a custom

Added some new names to the Polynesian Filipino, Papuan, Moluccan, Melanesian, & Maori pools

Merina has been moved back to African techgroup for now, I have plans to make their appearance Polynesian, but techgroup East African, to prevent them being oddly discovered by Polynesians

Further plans also exist for another group adjacent to Formosa as well as some new nations,

Polynesian Update (Austronesia Update 1)-

Added basically 4x the amount of Polynesian names all taken from historic lists of rulers of places including Hawaii, Tonga, Samoa, Rapa-Nui, Tahiti, Raiatea, & Bora Bora. This includes many dynasties. I removed any hyphens in the names, but kept all the 'Okinas (this is what the apostrophe letter in Hawaii is called, it is why Hawaii you may have heard pronounced Havai-e, which is how it is said in Polynesian).

I also removed the generic dynasty pool names from Orangasli that were Polynesian, I will check these later and place them in the correct groups, I would imagine Paradox took them from Polynesia though, but I will double check.

I will eventually consider adding some nations (atleast 1, maybe 2), and changing some dynasties around. For example, in much of the game the big island of Hawai'i's dynasty would be the Hame dynasty (so named for the semi-legendary founder of the island's nobility).

Update: 24 Nov, 2024 @ 9:36pm

Added 2 surnames to Muscovite (Orlov & Panin)

Update: 20 Nov, 2024 @ 7:01pm

Skewbald Horde (Strong People of the Great Moose) added, with a flag I made using the center of the Selkup flag & a public domain moose clip art which I then changed around a bit to look more real and less cartoony

I have also added some new names to Samoyeds & others (which SKW is the primary of now as there was none)

Historical Friend of Siberia

The two northmost Siberian provinces now are owned by SKW in 1510, and uncolonized prior

(As of now SKW does not have unique ideas, and is instead using horde ideas, but later I will add unique ideas to them)

Pegaia Orda (Russian name for the Skewbald Horde) province is not anywhere close to where they were, but rather in the area inhabited by the Siberian Tatar tribe called the Chat
I have renamed this province & its capital to be more accurate, switched the culture & religion, made the land held by the Shaybanids, not the Oirat, and later by Siberia

additionally religions were fixed for other Siberian provinces

The northmost Tuvan province now goes to Mongolia when they conquered much of the Oirats

Update: 18 Nov, 2024 @ 5:38pm

Added a few new names to some German cultures
