You're not the only person using the mod, remember.
I was thinking with the crop grower you get to dedicate the block to a specific plant yourself. You just create more crop growers and rename them to the plant you want to grow in them.
maybe you can add seeds and plants to the random drop pods?
I'm not too sure about using a large amount of power.
something in this day and age is called "growtainers"
it uses solar power to power special light bulbs for hydroponic growing.
I wonder if this mod can be intergated with the hunting mod. ^^
hopefully keen does consider some form of hydroponics since every movie or game set in space has some form of hydroponics to grow food from.
Even system shock 2 had a whole deck for hydroponic!
Sure, it may not be totally realistic, but it is kinda fun.
I'm not certain about this, but I believe the hydroponics bay also took a sizable amount of power, so it's a bit balanced out.
Plus, if you need to find things like seeds or organic material from cargo ships or planets, people who play in asteroids without cargo ships are going to be left behind.
Being able to create seeds with a 'mutator' or something, to mutate raw organic material created with the hydroponics bay, at the cost of a lot of power and raw resources just for a small amount of functional seeds, might be a step towards realism that supports more players and playstyles.
