This mod, although others as well, has allowed me to play at Legend difficulty which would not have been possible with either vanilla or WOTC.

i am not sure but does this mod also increase the number of timed loot? i think since using this i have muiltiply of these.

@Tecness Thank you. In my file, the line "RequiresXPACK=true" was in there twice, before and after the "tags=Gameplay, facility" line. I simply deleted one of those lines and it worked. I didn't change or add anything else.

I notice in your file that line is only there once, so I think that's the fix.

For those of you having issues getting this to show up on the new 2K launcher, I got it working by
changing the WOTC_ABetterStart(LITE).XComMod file found in \steamapps\workshop\content\268500\1134713272 to this;

What changed exactly? I added the contentImage= line and added a space inbetween tags=Gameplay. That's it. One of those two things is the reason it wasn't showing up.

Haha :D! Yeah, thought so... I now call upon a small Genie at startup just by pressing "^" that fills my inventory with all I could wish for :P. Thanks for the answer though, and: great mod ;)

Unfortunately I could not do that. I could set the starting supplies, alloys, etc. but cores were something you could only up the count on during game play. I know it feels like a cheat (but then again if you are using my mod that judgement ship has sailed) you can use the console command to give yourself resources like cores and corpses and the like. (search for xcom 2 console commands to get a list).
Personally I get more impatient getting enough advent corpses to be able to build the first plated armor upgrade. It's only a frustration because with A Better Start you can practically level out plasma and exsosuites before hitting your first mission after the start up mission. What?! I have to actually play the game to collect resources.. [WARNING: A Better Mods can lead to feelings of entitlement.]

Hey, just a quick question: any way to add Elerium Cores to my inventory? I want to start with a few of them so I can build Ammunition faster... had very few drop for me last time around with Loot Pinhata (dont know why, was constantly out).

yes, love the mod, but would love it more if it were MCM compatible instead of ini edits. with all the mods i use, if i had to edit all those ini.s after every update of any mod or game. wow.... :D

Thanks for the reply. I have done all of that again. I am still getting the error in the log file but the mods are loaded in game and working as intended. So im not sure why they are showing that error message.

Bignutt, darn sorry this happening to you. I really don't know what to say other than to unsubscribe to the mods and then purge the config directory like you did. Once the game has cycled subscribe to them again and see if they come back. I have never seen this in testing nor have I seen this error come up before. Maybe the download got corrupted after subscription.

tgchaplain, read over the comments i put in the ini file (XComGameData.ini) the time scalers work are multiplied against the cost of time. So by setting them to 1.0 will make them work in normal time. Set it to 0.5 will make it take half the time.

When i try and load these mods either by themselves or with others i get this message in the log file

In the XComGameData.ini file (path listed above in the notes) search for "time_scalar" you will see how those have been tweaked. They are multiplied to the icomplete_points a research project requires to finish.. basically this means the smaller the scaler number the faster the time.

Hi, how would i slow down research a little, i am blazing ahead way too fast, i hit magnetic weapons more or less in few turns making the start weapons redundant too quick.

Yep, it's all listed in the table above. Every version of these mods work with the vanilla game.

The values were a range with the min=25 and the max=35... I had them at mix=5 and max=10.. in both the full and lite versions I reverted them to min=25 and max=26 this way you get it at least as soon as they want you to have it show.

As for the black market - I do have an issue indeed with the global map being freezed in my first new game.
Most likely its due to the market showing up in the first week, possibly blocking other activities to happen.

Just starting a new game and the issue is gone, with the market popping up on the second month only...

Sonycman, you can check the notes for the full detail but I went to the extreme in correcting the points to complete error on PsiWitch. I decided to bag all of the points to complete changes as I believe it was causing issues with event triggers happening faster than the game devs expected. It's no big loss as adjusting those values was a new addition in this WOTC version. All prior versions of A Better Start just changed the time scalars in the GameData.ini

A new update was released this morning so you should see the change reflected on future games for the PsiWitch autopsy.

Wow, good catch. Yes, it was a forgotten a missed 0. I'll get this updated and can do it immediately however I want to collect up all the misses from the first week and then push them... I hate to frustrate the folks that might be already updating the ini files in place.

WOTC Compatible versions of my A Better' MODS have been released!!!

A lot of additions were made by WOTC that made upgrading a few of these a bit more tedius.. I'm looking at You, A Better Arsenal!
