it is WAD that they are very cheap now in vanilla they are so absurdly overpriced that they offer worse value then mercenaries and empires often cannot afford to fill out there cap and additional cap from training grounds and tech becomes worthless

this addresses that by making the retinues cheaper and the caps smaller so your always happy to get more cap even late into the game

its done by overwriting defines values it took a while to get the balance right so HRE is not too op and i had a reinforce rate at 0.2 to build retinues fast but it was too op in actual combat where you would loose half your army and it would be back 3 months later so it was nerfed to 0.1 which is still much faster then vanilla

"retinue cost and reinforce rate has been reduced/buffed" - how exactly is this done? Since it seems there is no cost for reinforcing the retinues, not one that makes a difference at lest.

idk that is interesting maybe there is something in defines that controls how many or how often they create retinues

I noticed the AI dont max out their available retinue. Is it a problem in the base game ?
Because I notice in my gameplay that the HRE has few retinue but when I check they have like 4K/16K retinue cap usage.

The changes are fine if you're playing a proper serious game. To be honest, I think having an event spawn at the start giving you an option would be nice if you're just playing casually.

i like those changes but i could buff the retinue cap more if you think the tech nerf reduced it too much

mainly the light infantry being size 100 rather than what it is now, but tech being nerfed can be a bit of a pain in the arse

you know what i am going to update this and as much as i dislike counts making retinues i also miss making them early my self so i am going to keep the new version with size 100 retinues but make light infantry size 500 and nerf tech into the ground

have you tried a new save game? maybe the old retinues are baked into your save file maybe you can just delete them and then replace them with vanilla ones?

if its a steam problem you can just deselect the mod in the launcher and then the mod should not load even if steam forgot to delete it

Yeah it because it overwrite the vanila retinues. I have add them manually from the vanilla file to the mod file and it work.

it has morale 3 instead of defense 3 not morale 2 instead of defense 2 but still good catch
this mod has been in limbo for awhile since i made a version with size 200 retinues and loads of balances changes to stop ai counts from building retinues

i might replace this one with that one

Hi great mod ! Just to let you know that I Found a mistake in the code : RETTYPE_CUL_NORTHGER has heavy_infantry_morale 2 time instead of heavy_infantry_defence

this mod makes similar changes so it would be unnecessary and it would conflict but it should work retinues reinforce in 6 months max org brings a 1600% percent bonus reinforce cost is 0.135 but this mod also buffs the retinues and nerfs your cap to make it not overpowered the idea was that players would valve retinue cap again instead of it just being a money sink that wasn't worth it

i am pretty sure that means your levy is too small a retinue mod shouldnt fix that try a martial education and war focus make sure all your holdings have atleast the militia training grounds

When I tried editing the retinues, all I got was the retinue screen changing the soldier composition and costs, however you still lost the original cash and recieved the old retinues.
Like I changed the Byzantine Cataphracts to only heavy cavalry. It made it slightly cheaper. You ended up paying the price for normal cataphracts and still had horse archers.

How'd yeh do this?

i fixed all retinues to 100 units of 1 type with cultural retinues that had mixed units i picked the unit i would prefer if i had the cultural retinue a good example is the dutch cultural retinue in vanilla it has 300 Light infantry and 100 Pikeman in the mod the dutch retinue now has 100 pikemen i did this with all the cultures its mostly intuitve but there are some things you wouldnt expect like how nubian and west african archers are now on par with english and welsh archers

Have you changed any of the cultural retinue compositions or do they have the default mix of units from vanilla?
