This was an intentional change that I made for version 2.0. Prior versions had 'rifle_fullautobutton_1' share the same sound as 'rifle_slideforward_1'. The reloading animation of the AMR-16 in PAYDAY 2 does not involve hitting anything at the side of the rifle which presented a problem: I had no substitute for that action in Left 4 Dead 2 . Therefore, out of possibly bad judgment (because I have zero knowledge of firearms in real life), I just based it off the sound file's name - "fullautobutton" - which I assumed meant that it was switching to fully automatic mode. That's why I used the sound of switching from single fire to auto fire in PAYDAY 2 .
However, after doing some light reading about reloading an M-16, I've realized that this change was a mistake and it had been correct since version 1.0! I will be reverting this change in the next update - whenever that is. Thank you for your feedback!
:)
(I believe this is not the appropriate place to discuss the major update, but thank you for the thoughts. I, too, am pretty excited about it)
It's the first major update the game has received in years, so I'm quite excited. It has actually encouraged me to consider updating this add-on. More news on that to come.
To everyone, thank you and I hope I get to work on my add-on soon. It's been a while.
Hello again, Cursed Hawkins ! I've recently been in-and-out with regards to releasing v2.0 (not v1.4) of this add-on (especially with the upcoming 'The Last Stand' update) where I either try sourcing the game files directly (I doubt it) or re-recording the sounds in a better environment, and all I can say for now is that I'm starting to plan for it (but I'm not making any promises). It's just been a few minutes since the release of the official trailer of the update, and I'm pumped!
If you've read my recent discussion , this add-on is pretty much past its prime and I've lost a fair amount of interest in maintaining it. But, never say never, as I might just return and "remaster" the add-on (as version 2.0) when I have enough time and feel like doing so, but no one should expect it to happen anytime soon. Thank you for understanding and subscribing to the add-on, please enjoy!
I haven't thought about looking for a custom map and recording it through there, but I'll keep that in mind. Although I think that "fan like sound" (buzzing) is a normal occurrence when recording through Audacity, but I may be wrong.

Funny you should mention it, because I have been planning to recommend that add-on to go with mine once I release the next version since it fixes some bugs (like the Dual Pistols firing sounds being flipped) and improves weapon sound utilization (such as letting the Deagle use its own reload sounds).
Heck, I'll do it right now: I highly recommend everyone to use Overhauling the Originals over the vanilla weapons, especially users of my add-on!
I currently have problems finding a counterpart for the AWP because of how distinct the weapon and its firing sounds are. The Scout, however, I've already chosen a counterpart for.
I'm going to take a guess here (since I'm no sound expert) and say it may be the sample rate between the two sounds [i.postimg.cc] that has something to do with it. You may want to consult somewhere else for that problem. Good luck!
The answer to your question is to convert the sounds from stereo to mono (Here's how in Audacity ) [manual.audacityteam.org]. I did experience the same problem as you when I was first making this add-on, it had me puzzled as well (especially since the original sound files packaged are on stereo , and that it worked well). Good luck!
Btw, I have a little question.. how did you manage not to distort the Css Mp5 Sounds (they are the best quality for the weapon in this workshop)? I'm trying to add Awp and Scout sounds but they don't sound like in the file (Yes is .wav and they last the same as the originals).. Would you mind telling me?
Thank you for the compliment, Rudy The Fox™! Enjoy!
I have no intentions of using replacement sounds for the five remaining weapons in the long run, only if its PD2 counterpart is released - then i will include it. I hope you understand, thank you.
Oh, and i think it's best i create a Discussion thread dedicated to these matters so as the comments section is spared from technicals.
I experimented with Audacity's features which allowed me to tweak each gunshot's reverb. Yes, i am fully aware of the gunshot problem of the Pump Shotgun and i am doing the best i can to get it replaced. Despite my soon-busy schedule, i will try to allocate some time to get it done. Thank you for the feedback!
i'm not sure, but maybe directly replacing the original files and rebuilding the sound cache could work, since survivor voice mods needs to use this method to work, but then it kind of destroys the purpose of "just subscribe and play".
I initially chose John Wick's underground shooting range as the recording spot because i thought it provided me the right amount of reverb for the gunshots (because even sounds reflect outside, against walls). By now, i'm starting to shuffle through different locations in-game (within the Safe House or even job locations) that would be as quiet as the underground safe house and provide me the suitable reverb for both indoors and outdoors (which may seem impossible? Nonetheless, i'll work on it.)
You'll be happy to know that i will continue to refine this mod in my spare time, and i try my best to get users' concerns unnoticed. I will see if i can do something about it.
I cannot silence out background noise completely since this was recorded, but i ensured that there would be no background noise with sufficient volume that would intervene with the actual gunfire shots. The noises you may be hearing after the shots could be the spent cartridges bouncing off the shooting booths (notable in the silenced SMG) or my poor attempt at cutting out the sudden pump of the Reinfeld 880 (Chrome Shotgun counterpart) - but i let those be because i believe people would not really pay attention to those minor "mistakes". I had to cut the gunfire at the exact length of the original Left 4 Dead 2 gunfire because i think it's required.
