A www. .... rip, i really wanted to see those Carbon patterns on my colonists than simply being the best cloth in the game, F
ignis  [author] 4 Apr @ 7:09pm
I don't think you can have a texture from a material on clothes, only color.
Amro 4 Apr @ 1:21am
Unique carbon cloth texture? i really like the pattern, its a shame it turns into blank black on the regular tailoring table.
ignis  [author] 22 Oct, 2024 @ 1:33pm
I don't think already built structures would change.
Cross 22 Oct, 2024 @ 12:40pm
Hi there! Really enjoying your mod, been slowly converting as much of my base as possible to carbon-weave XD

I wanted to ask something. So I changed the XML to allow carbon-weave to have the Stony tag because I prefer the black over the synthdiamond, and I prefer stony/metal floors over wooden ones, but I was wondering if this mod were to update, and the stony tag would be removed again, would all my floors break apart?

I've tried creating my own patches of mods before, but I have no background in coding and I don't think I'm using the Xpaths right. :P
BRSaura 4 Oct, 2024 @ 10:21am
One of my favorite mods, I only wish the refining process were a bit more complicated instead of just dumping chemfuel in the station
ignis  [author] 27 Sep, 2024 @ 7:38am
You can use it as a stuff for recipes that need fabric, metal, wood or stone. If recipe needs specific material, you can't.

But I don't recommend using composite for armor, it has mediocre stats. Weave is almost as good as devilstrand. Diamond... Not sure, vanilla has no stone armors.
Gen1ELman 27 Sep, 2024 @ 6:37am
can i use carbon as material to armor?
5150 7 Feb, 2024 @ 10:12am
I really like this mod. There aren't many places to use chemical fuels later on, so it's nice to be able to make good use of this And it's light because it's an xml-based mode
Senor Sprinkles 19 May, 2023 @ 7:32am
Oh okay, thanks!
ignis  [author] 19 May, 2023 @ 7:09am
Long ago, deep drilling was able to reveal a massive chemfuel reserves. This was removed when ground penetrating scanner became operable station. VCE re-adds chemfuel to scannable resoures.
Senor Sprinkles 19 May, 2023 @ 6:47am
Under "Recommended mods:" it states "Vanilla Chemfuel Expanded — returns chemfuel to deep drilling." What exactly does this mean?
Deadcurze 10 May, 2023 @ 11:38pm
I don't think it's too far-fetched to be able to change the colour of carbon fibers without losing the chequered effect in a game where you can grow people in vats, produce robots in a garage, and build a fully-functional space ship in an open field.

That said, fair enough, it's your call - and good to know, @kongkim.

As for the limited effect, I figured as much; given that it's multicoloured I assume the two options are changing the tone of the whole thing or just changing one colour. To be clear though, I haven't the foggiest how that part of the game works, code-wise.
kongkim 10 May, 2023 @ 3:17pm
@Deadcurze My patch mod to this that is linked below your comment make it paintable.
But as @ignis say, it do not have much effect on the floor, but it do change a bit in color.
ignis  [author] 10 May, 2023 @ 12:30pm
I'm not sure how it can work, since its chequered look comes from the material structure. There is a reason why carbon fiber is always black. You can paint over it, but you won't have its signature pattern then, only paint.
Deadcurze 10 May, 2023 @ 7:00am
Have you considered making the carbon floors paintable (assuming, of course, that doing that isn't a hassle coding and/or graphics-wise)?
kongkim 17 Feb, 2023 @ 2:15pm
@ignis i really like your mod, but as said before i like a more vanilla balance.
So made a balance patch mod for this, and mentioned you also.
Maybe it will give you a few more subs to the mod :) Feel free to link to it if you feel for it.

Usernames Are Hard 16 Jan, 2023 @ 12:49am
Might I recommend a rename of synthdiamond to fullerite? Not only does it sound cooler, it is essentially a real life equivalent to what I’d seen in the mod.
Sen'val 21 Dec, 2022 @ 6:20pm
Man was tripping why I couldn't make diamond floors... didn't have stuffed floors installed, was about to ask what's up... But love the mod. Currently making my officer's quarters out of diamond, bedrooms, bathrooms, dining hall... then freaked out I couldn't do the floors. :D
ignis  [author] 26 Nov, 2022 @ 7:08am
You can:
- Use rimmsqol to change price yourself
- Change storyteller settings to make wealth less important or even use wealth-independant curve
- Add mods with better weapons and turrets to shred those raids
- Spend your wealth to turn your pawns into bionic supersoldiers
- Cheese raids more
- Use stone to build
- Get a mechanitor and build a dozen of superheavy mechs to bulldoze raids
- Get allies and call them to help you fight
- Use your own imagination
- Lower difficulty
ignis  [author] 26 Nov, 2022 @ 7:01am
Currently cost of composite is 4 per unit. It was calculated from work required to make it in the same way most crafted things do that. It is not that much - composite from rimefeller costs twice as much, and a lot of materials generlly are more expensive.
[岗] Señiorita woofers 26 Nov, 2022 @ 6:59am
Pls bro i really like this mod but my raids are 10 times stronger then before
[岗] Señiorita woofers 26 Nov, 2022 @ 6:58am
1 carbon wall is worth 4 times more than a normal wall
[岗] Señiorita woofers 26 Nov, 2022 @ 6:57am
i dont think the math adds up
[岗] Señiorita woofers 26 Nov, 2022 @ 6:55am
i have 4 carbon chairs in my dining room and its already deemed as a rich room
[岗] Señiorita woofers 26 Nov, 2022 @ 6:52am
my worth is exploding rn
[岗] Señiorita woofers 26 Nov, 2022 @ 6:52am
cmon man one chair is worth 200 dollars
ignis  [author] 26 Nov, 2022 @ 6:40am
Well, it can't really be cheaper than chemfuel you spend on it, so it would still cost at least 2.5 per unit. Sure, it is not 4, but still more.

Maybe consider invest into some better defense and gear mods? Vanilla is really imbalanced in what it can offer in terms of high-end stuff.
[岗] Señiorita woofers 26 Nov, 2022 @ 6:14am
hi can you change the worth of the carbon walls? They're worth 20 dollar each compared to a wood wall with 6 dollar. i'm getting 100 man raids with only ten colonists and my colony is worth 300 k pls fix
ignis  [author] 22 Nov, 2022 @ 12:12pm
Well, OP is relative. To other materials? Maybe. To breach raids it means to counter? I'd say absolutely not.
kongkim 22 Nov, 2022 @ 11:58am
Hi thx for the answer. I tried it out earlire today. its ok, but the diamond walls are way OP compared to other things in the game. And they are not that hard to make.
ignis  [author] 22 Nov, 2022 @ 11:51am
Carbon composite is basically a wood with stone stats. It i made from chemfuel with 1:1 ratio.

Carbon weave may be a bit OP, since there are no vanilla textile with such stats and it is basically devilthread with more HP. It i made from chemfuel with 1:1 ratio.

Synthdiamond is intended to use for walls, it is expensive but relatively powerful. Still barely OP since vanilla walls are still being easily destroyed by sappers, it can only delay them for a short time. It i made from chemfuel with 1:10 ratio.
kongkim 22 Nov, 2022 @ 3:41am
It looks good, but the HP seems a bit high? Is it balanced with other matrials?
Also what to it take to make it and how much?
Rince 2 Sep, 2022 @ 11:30pm
i love it, cheap and decent material, so cool
Bosh 2 Jun, 2022 @ 11:15am
Fixed it, just had to put it higher in the load order.
Bosh 2 Jun, 2022 @ 10:40am
Why cant I build carbon tiles? They dont appear in the floor tab even though I've researched carbon.
Lurmey 26 Feb, 2022 @ 3:43am
Ah I thought that might be the case. Thanks :)
ignis  [author] 25 Feb, 2022 @ 11:55am
Only basic vanilla power conduits can have short circuit, it is hardcoded in the event. Even underwater vanilla ones are safe.
Lurmey 25 Feb, 2022 @ 10:38am
Are the carbon conduits or underground carbon conduits immune to the Zzztt short circuit event?
Velar 17 Jan, 2022 @ 6:52am
Wood has a material multiplier of 0.1
Steel has a material multiplier of 1.0
C-Fiber has a material multiplier of 1.2
Plasteel has a material multiplier of 2

(10x mat. mult. )
W.Mask with wood = 1
W.Mask with CF = 12
(8x mat. mult.)
Steel b. shield = 8
CF b. shield = 9.6
Plasteel b. shield = 16
(556AP = 10pen)

This should mostly hold true for nonCE as well with CF far surpassing Wood for wood items. For metal material, c-fib is mid-tier and is in a good place.

Its strong for an early game wood helmet. It could be cool for a tribal playthrough for a high quality war mask for your chief though! But not a deal-breaker- would be better without woody by default though. (For vanilla and CE)

TLDR:
Mod works fine- but the carbon fiber material properties make wood items a bit too strong if used with c-fiber. This is certainly the case for CE, but will most likely hold true for vanilla but I haven't tested van.

Suggestion: Remove Woody from c-fiber material types.
Eqz 15 Jan, 2022 @ 11:54pm
@HoldTheCheese, this mod is listed in Third party compatible mods for CE as well: https://github.com/CombatExtended-Continued/CombatExtended/blob/Development/SupportedThirdPartyMods.md

However, looks like the issue of Carbon composite being able to be used as "woody" material in armor and produce war masks and wooden shields that exceed recon helmets/plasteel ballistic shields in RHA is still there. The simplest solution I know is remove Woody material class form Carbon Composite when used with CE.
Velar 15 Jan, 2022 @ 2:40pm
Excited to try this!

FYI: CE has a compatibility patch for this that is built into the current steam build.

ozfresh 15 Sep, 2021 @ 4:13pm
@ignis I dont know how I could do that, as it wont even let me put 2 different conduits on the same tile
ignis  [author] 14 Sep, 2021 @ 12:38am
You should not place several types of conduits on the same place.
ozfresh 13 Sep, 2021 @ 2:20am
Im not sure if this is the mod that is causing the errors as i have this mod installed as well as invisible conduits, but I have messaged them as well...

I keep getting the same message in debug logs: "Two power networks on the same cell" and then their coordinates. but my debug log is just spammed completely with this for maybe hundreds of lines. I at first blew it off because they were yellow and i had red errors. But after contacting those errors' mods, and those errors disappearing, all i'm left with is these (maybe) 100 errors repeating.

Please can you fix it? its crashing my game pretty badly
ignis  [author] 22 Jun, 2021 @ 2:16am
I think exotic trader, but rarely. It is not a regular stock, just sometimes added by tags.
Ender 21 Jun, 2021 @ 9:03pm
which orbital traders sell the synth diamonds i have been checking all and cant seem to find one selling them
ignis  [author] 27 Mar, 2021 @ 11:21pm
If you make chemfuel from corn, you'll get one diamond per day per 10 plants. This gives 4 silver per day profit per plant. Or you can make carbon and get half as much.

If you grow psychoid plant, you'll get one flake per day per 4.5 plants. This gives 3.1 silver per day profit per plant.

Now consider that processing of synthdiamonds is more labor-intensive, requires more research (electricity + biofuel + carbon) compared to yayo (drug production + psychite refining).
death016024 27 Mar, 2021 @ 10:32pm
Chemfuel*50($115)=carbon*50($200)=Diamond*10($400)
Too valuable.

ignis  [author] 17 Mar, 2021 @ 3:15pm
Update:
* A lot of defs are renamed to avoid mod collisions. It would cause some issues on existing saves (would have to rebuild everything done with diamonds and recreate relevant bills) but it was overdue.
* Diamond renamed to synthdiamond, which is now described as a plastic that looks kinda like a diamond.
* C-composite walls now can be built on weak soil (same as wood now), synthdiamond walls need solid ground like stone.
* Very minor stats adjustments.
