I don't know what I would do without this work of art. Thank you!

This fence is such a clutch, best residential fence network on the workshop.

Thank you very much for making it.
Greetings!

Hey mate this might be a long shot, but do you know why the shadows in my game might not be lining up with the bottoms of the fences? They seem about a meter out. Its like this for all network fences and stuff that i've installed so I dont think its on your end. Awesome asset anyway! ive just been using gradens to cover it up lol. Have a good day!

You got some good_ideas! (bet no one's made that connection before...) I crack me up.

Quboid 24 Jun, 2018 @ 6:59pm
Could you please make this reversible?
King DaMuncha 1 Jun, 2018 @ 9:08am
This is great, Could you make new version? colors? difference fences?
matthiaspowerbomb 1 Jun, 2018 @ 3:55am
This looks nice. I'd like to see a gray version, for those really weathered fences.

Gladly! Thanks for reading through it
Skignovilous 30 May, 2018 @ 9:25pm
I see, thanks for the detailed reply, I really appreciated. I guess that probably prop line tool + prop precision + pdelmos hedges are the best way to go then.
Thanks a lot and keep up the good work.
Badi_Dea  [author] 30 May, 2018 @ 8:34pm
How this fits in with making hedges is that for a flat object with a texture, like the vanilla hedges, it would be fine, no problem at all.
More detailed hedges uses more geometry, there are planes clipped into the mesh and textured with transparent areas to create little leaves and things sticking up here and there.
This becomes a problem with a network since the model is stretched, longer segments would have more sparce details than the shorter segments, those would end up with tiny little spiky branches.
Bushes, like you mention, would also be problematic because of the same reasons. The mesh needs to be able to accomodate distances from 8m to 64m, so small segments would be squashed flat bushes and long segments would be chunky stretched bushes.

The TL:DR of the whole thing is that, yes, it's entirely possible, but it's going to be real tough to match the current quality of prop hedges where these limitations aren't a problem.
Badi_Dea  [author] 30 May, 2018 @ 8:34pm
@Skignovilous : I didn't want to get into the technical details too much, yet here we are.
The first thing to keep in mind is that the Network tiling mod doesn't do anything about the model geometry, it's only the textures.
When a network is placed in game, the geometry is stretched or compressed to to equal the distance that is drawn.
The textures are applied to the model, but obviously if they are stretched to the same degree as the model, things would end up really blurry for longer segments. The game repeats or tiles the textures so that texel density is preserved along the entire length.
The Network Tiling mod is used to adjust how much the texture is tiled, so the creator has more control over how frequently the texture is repeated.
Skignovilous 30 May, 2018 @ 7:26pm
I mean, it can be default or ''low quality'' edges at first, and then maybe eventually better looking ones. Or maybe bushes. I just think the Network Tiling Mod is really user friendly to make ''fence-like'' structures.

If you can do it, I thank you!
Badi_Dea  [author] 30 May, 2018 @ 6:58pm
@Skignovilous : Yeah, hedges are possible, but it all depends on the quality. Hedges that look like the stock in-game hedges would be easy. Hedges that look like Pdelmo's would be much, much more difficult (due to a number of reasons)

@Yorkie Pudd : I'll consider releasing more fences if other asset creators aren't interested in it. There are a lot of excellent fence props that could be converted to networks with minimal effort, and I don't want to steal their thunder.

Thanks all!
Skignovilous 30 May, 2018 @ 5:38pm
Hey, thanks for the amazing assets. By the way, is it possible to make hedges that use the network tiling mod? We have power lines, walls, fences, it would be great to have hedges too. I'm not sure how hard it is to make it, but it would be great. Thanks in advance!
Yorkie Pudd 30 May, 2018 @ 2:03pm
This is perfect thank you. Would you consider making palisade fencing, those spiky security fences are all over the UK and it would be great to have an easy to place version in the game
Badi_Dea  [author] 29 May, 2018 @ 8:29am
@Streeto : Prop line tool was updated yesterday; but you don't need it for this asset as it's a network fence.
Thanks all!
Streeto 29 May, 2018 @ 4:52am
Very nice, just need PLT fixed now...
girlfromverona 28 May, 2018 @ 6:31pm
Oh, this is brilliant! Thanks.
Badi_Dea  [author] 28 May, 2018 @ 5:01pm
@willdog115678 : It's the shovel in the ground icon, it will be in the fences tab if you own Parklife, otherwise it will be in the water structures tab with the quays.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the comments

Where is the Beautification Menu I Dont Know What It Is Or What It Looks Like! Please Help!
Overlord 28 May, 2018 @ 3:02pm
Awesome. Great looking fence, terrain conforming and no props :) Also saving some ram because you dont need 4m 8m 16m versions of the same asset!
CityDave 26 May, 2018 @ 12:25pm
Beautiful!
Pres 26 May, 2018 @ 8:20am
Thank you!
Brandon 26 May, 2018 @ 6:17am
wow we are really eliminating the prop limit with all these fence and line networks, wonderful assets! many thanks!
[Delta ²k5] 26 May, 2018 @ 5:28am
Ah, okay, now I understand! The shader is quiet the same as before (from the castle walls) and is used via script - so using the template it would be linked to this template and require the dlc ;) thank you for the head up!
Badi_Dea  [author] 26 May, 2018 @ 2:42am
@[Delta ²k5] : Not at all in fact! The shader is usable for all versions. However, if you use one of the Parklife included fences as a template it will end up requiring the DLC.
[Delta ²k5] 26 May, 2018 @ 1:30am
um, isn't Parklife a dependency for using this shader? Nice work anyway! :) loving it!
Badi_Dea  [author] 26 May, 2018 @ 1:08am
Thanks folks, hope you like it!
@aubergine18 : This was a neat little test, I wanted to see how the shader worked and what was possible with it. I do have a need for a couple more types of fences in my builds - but I want to make sure other creators get an opportunity to make stuff like this too before I do anything else like this.

Thank you so much :steamhappy: Been waiting for something like this to come out!
